The Tuscany Initiative for Hydrogen
Mobility and Beyond
The Regione Toscana is participating in Hyer and will avail itself to this aim of the support of the Consortium Pont-Tech, whose representatives will take part to the Association´s activity on behalf of Regione Toscana.
Pont-Tech is partner in the management of the "Pole of Innovation for Mechanics and Vehicles" established by Regione Toscana.
In the framework of Regione Toscana´s strategy to promote Research and Innovation, the Poles of Innovation are main Players to sustain the Industrial research and the Experimentation within the enterprises in the region and in co-operation with others outside the Region.
PONT-TECH:
An interface in R&D projects and Technology
Transfert
PONT-TECH is a no profit public-private consortium for
Industrial Research and Technology Transfer and a Research Organization according to the "Community Framework for state aid for Research and Development and Innovation" (2006/C 323/01).
The mission of Pont-Tech is to promote the economic and territorial development by supporting the technological
innovation and the industrial research by the enterprises, with particular with regard to SMEs.
Actions are focused on the experimentation and the transfer of strongly innovative knowledge so allowing the growth and the competitiveness of industries

The Framework
A MEMORANDUM OF INTENTS was signed in 2007 among The Government of Toscana, the County of Pisa, the Town of
Pontedera, the Universities of Pisa, and Pont-Tech on
a)
Promoting an “Hydrogen district” where performing Researchand Manufacturing activities on the use of Hydrogen in mobility systems;
b)
Performing Research and Experiments on innovative endothermic engines, Fuel Cells Systems and Hydrogen as aclean energy carrier for stationary applications
c)
Dealing with the general issues (e.g. distributioninfrastructure, regulations, components production, safety etc.) to promote Market applications of Hydrogen Technologies
d)
Experimenting methods and technologies to couple Hydrogen and Renewable Energye)
Experimenting methods and technologies to produce Hydrogen from industrial processes sub-product (e.g. inWHY IN TUSCANY?
•
Historical and current presence of Industries
in Vehicles, Transport and Mobility (e.g.
Piaggio, CMASA, Fiat, Whitehead-Motofides,
Continental, TRW…)
•
Experience in GAS production, storage and
transport
•
Presence of outstanding Universities
specialized in engineering for vehicles and
mobility
•
An highly committed Regional Government
and collaborating Local bodies
Within the framework of the Memorandum the following main projects have been developed:
