Sample warehouse management questionnaires for
a new implementation Project.
Here are some of the basic questions you can use to make detailed questionnaires. Some time business users not giving the answers in direct as needed for the
requirement gatheration.
They will give indirect or turn around answers which is difficult to map or some time difficult to understand.
So we need to ask the repetitive questions to get our required answers..Otherwise @ end of implementation they will tell our expectation is different from the existing configuration or system setup.
So final answer will be "we are not satisfied" with this and finally money matters.. So we need to take more attention during requirement gathering phase and I cans say this phase is more vital than all other phase and we can take it more critical. Here is the phase where consultants need more expertised act and need more patients in collecting the data from the users..
Normally experienced guys will have the ability to bring the answers form the business owners mind. I can say it is an art and it is not a work. They will just chit -chat with the business owner..
Once requirement is gathered we can easily map the process followed/existing process to SAP and sort out the GAPs in implementation...
Sample Questions
How many physically distinct warehouses do you want to create in SAP?
Which Warehouses are to be assigned to which Plant, Storage Location combinations?
R/3 system?

c) Which 'Region' does the Warehouse belong to?
d) Weight UOM at Warehouse Level?
e) Volume UOM at Warehouse Level?

g) 2nd Default UOMs to use...?
h) Time/ Performance UOM
i) Blocking Indicator ("" "", ""A"" or ""B"")
j) Partial Picking - Multiple Processing option ("" "", ""1"", ""2"" or ""3"")
k) Message/ Notification for Capacity Check ("" "" - No Notification, ""F"" - Error, ""W"" - Warning)
l) Message/ Notification for Capacity Check ("" "" - No Notification, ""F"" - Error, ""W"" - Warning)
m) Message/ Notification for Capacity Check ("" "" - No Notification, ""F"" - Error, ""W"" - Warning)
How many Storage Types are identified for creation, in each Warehouse?
List all Picking Area in your Warehouse.
1) How many Doors are defined in the Warehouse?
2) Do you want Goods Issue to be processed via door?
3) Do you want Goods Receipts to be processed via door?
4) Do you want cross-docking activities to be processed via door?
5) Do you want direct stock allocation to be processed via door?
1) List all the material Staging Area in your Warehouse
2) Do you want Goods Issue to be processed via staging area?
3) Do you want Goods Receipts to be processed via staging area?
4) Do you want cross-docking activities to be processed via staging area?
5) Do you want direct stock allocation to be processed via staging area?"
List the storage bins that are used in your Warehouse.
List the Blocking Reasons.
A) Do you want to create Storage Bins Automatically?
B) Indicate the Fire containment section"
List the storage type indicator for material
A) Define the Storage unit type for Material
B) What is the Capacity usage of storage unit type?
C) Specify the unit of measure load category?
List the Storage Section indicator
State the Special movement Indicator
List the Bulk Storage Indicator
Activation of Storage type Search

A) Do you want material data to appear on inventory list?
B) Do you want to display storage bin during entry of counted results?
C) Do you want to display material during the entry of counted results?
D) Which input method you want for inventory count?
E) Specify the deviation percentage between book inventory and physical inventory?
F) Do you want to allow input of quants on the next page?
A) Define the Inventory procedure to be used for the storage type?
B) Do you want the inventory to take place when the stock is placed in the empty storage bin?
C) Do you want the inventory to take place based on zero stock check, i.e. When the remaining quantity is removed from the bin?
D) Do you want to carry out Zero Stock Check?
E) Do you want to define cycle counting inventory method for this storage type?
Define the difference and documents limits:
A) State the movement type for posting positive inventory difference?
B) State the movement type for clearing negative inventory difference?
C) State the maximum number of items in system inventory record?
A) Specify the Inventory Management movement type for posting(positive)/clearing(negative) Inventory differences?
B) Do you want to prohibit posting from all storage types other than one storage type(999)?
List the Fire Containment section in your Warehouse?
List the Hazardous material Warnings you want to use in your Warehouse Management?
List the aggregate state of hazardous material
List the Region Codes
List the Storage Class for Hazardous material
Do you want to activate automatic Transfer Order creation?
Do you want disallow Goods Movement (Goods Receipt, Goods Issue, Posting Change) for Storage Type?
