This trust makes grants available to UK registered charities for a range of projects. The project area changes each yearand for 2015, only applications in the areas of Community and Medical will be accepted.

The Dan Maskell Tennis Trust

This scheme will make grants available to help disabled people in the UK to play tennis through the purchase of wheelchairs, tennis equipment and grants for coaching.

Grants of up to £1,500 for a group, club or project are available; however please not that organisaitons must make a contribution towards the purchase of wheelchairs.

Disability groups and programmes, clubs, schools and associations in the UK are eligible to apply. Application forms are available to download from the Trust’s website. However prior to applying for assistance, applicants are advised to consult The Tennis Foundation and/or their local

County Tennis Association.

Scotland - John Watson’s Trust

This scheme awards grants to under 21-year-olds with either a physical or learning disability, or who are in a situation of deprivation. Support is provided towards educational purposes and is awarded to individuals, groups and organisations working with eligible young people.

Creative Scotland Youth Music Initiative

This scheme provides financial assistance to individual musicians, music facilitators, music groups and youth organisations in Scotland for professional development and training activities that will extend and improve music making activities for children and young people.

Big Lottery Fund’s Heroes Return 2 – Ends in 2015

The Heroes Return 2 funding programme is scheduled to end this year with the last date of travel being 31 December 2015.

This scheme provides Lottery funding to help World War II veterans who saw active service and are resident in the UK or the Republic of Ireland to take part in commemorative visits (within the UK and overseas) to mark the anniversary of events that led to the end of WWII. The grants cover travel and accommodation expenses to enable veterans to make trips back to places across the world where they served. Funding is also available to take part in an official commemoration in the UK.

Applicants can apply for a fixed amount grant of between £165 and £8,140.

Veterans who fought with, or alongside, British Forces in World War II and who are resident in the UK, Channel Islands and the Republic of Ireland may apply. War widows and widowers of veterans are also eligible for funding, and carers and spouses can receive funding to travel with veterans. Applications will be prioritised according to date of travel so that those applications with early travel dates are dealt with first.

The final date to travel is 31 December 2015. Therefore applications should be submitted far enough in advance to allow for processing.

Girdlers’ Company Charitable Trust

Four Winds Trust

John Rayner Charitable Trust

The Church of Scotland - Go For It Fund

It aims to encourage creative ways of working which develop the life and mission of the local church and are transformative for both communities and congregations.

The following grants are available:

1. Small Grants:

• Research Grants of up to £1,500. • Pilot Grants of up to £5,000.

• Step Grants of up to £5,000 per annum. • Training Grants of up to £1,500.

• Help Grants of up to £2,000.

2. Main Grants

Grants up to £45,000 are available, over a three year period, with the possibility of continuation funding for a further two years.

Funding is only available for one project from one church at any one time.

Match funding of at least 50% is required for Main Grants and Continuation Grants. If however, the projects for these grants predominantly support people who are among the country’s poorest, the match funding required will be 20%.

Applications are welcomed from Church of Scotland congregations or organisations very closely associated with them. Applicants will also need to show how they are actively working with other partners, including other churches, to bring about change.

Application forms are available to download from the Church of Scotland website; however applicants should first complete and submit the Eligibility Questionnaire.

Applications for Small Grants may be submitted at any time. However the next deadline for receipt of applications to the Main Grants scheme is 26 February 2016.

Scotland’s Churches Trust

This scheme aims to assist congregations of any denomination in Scotland in the preservation and upkeep of church buildings which are in regular use for public worship, principally by raising funds for their repair and restoration and by acting as a source of technical advice and assistance on maintenance and repair.

Funding is available for congregations of any denomination in Scotland with no minimum or maximum amount specified. Funding is typically for between £500 and £5,000; however applicants are required to provide the remainder of any costs from alternative sources. Application forms are available on request from the trust.

Applicants should give their name, the name of the church, a summary of the work required and the likely timetable.

Henry Smith Charity - Main Grants

This scheme provides financial assistance for projects involved with health and social welfare in the UK, including the Isle of Man and Channel Islands.

The Main Grants Programme, which is open to organisations in the UK, provides grants of £10,000 per year or over. There are two types of Main Grant:

1. Capital Grants - One off grants for purchase or refurbishment of a building or purchase of

specialist equipment.

2. Revenue Grants - Grants of up to three years for running costs (including salaries and

overheads), or the running costs of a specific project (including staffing costs).

Application forms are available to download from the Charity’s website; however please note that only one grant per organisation can be supported at any one time.

Moffat Charitable Trust

Grants of up to £25,000 are available for one year funding for organisations with a total income in the last financial year of less than £250,000.

The trust prefers to offer a contribution towards the total funds required for core funding requests, but, in general, prefers to fund a specific project.

The major categories under which the trustees consider support are as follows:

Care - examples include palliative care, care for older people, people with disabilities, and people

with mental health issues.

Children/Young People - especially projects which assist under-privileged children and

promote child healthcare as well as programmes which are involved in the development of vulnerable/disengaged young people.

Community - with particular regard to charities working to improve the quality of life for those

living in disadvantaged areas.

Education/Training - the trust is interested in supporting projects covering travel and tourism

and those involved in business development.

Sport/Art - particularly projects which help young people develop and progress in their chosen

sport and encourage young people to participate in artistic activities.

Grants can take the form of core funding (including salaries and running costs) and project grants. Applicants should submit an initial enquiry form which is available online or to download from the trust’s website. Once the enquiry form has been reviewed, successful applicants will be invited to complete an application form for discussion at the next trustees meeting.

The Thompson Family Charitable Trust

This scheme provides grants to registered UK registered charities and schools.

Funding is provided at the discretion of the Trustees and can range from £250 up to an exceptional amount of £500,000. Although average grants tend to be between £1,000 and

£50,000 with a few grants of £100,000 and £200,000.

W M Sword Charitable Trust

This scheme provides grants to voluntary and community organisations active in Scotland.

The trust will support organisations that help children and young adults who require assistance due to sickness, disability or hardship. In particular, the programme aims to support children and help them to achieve their full potential.

Therefore grants, for costs associated with eligible projects, are made to individuals or organisations that:

• Assist children and young adults; and

• Are based and operating in Scotland.

New Start Up Scotland

New Start Up Scotland aims to provide mentoring and financial support to entrepreneurs that would not normally be via traditional banking relationships. The programme’s main aims are to:

• Foster a culture of entrepreneurship in Scotland.

• Give a boost to UK economic growth through supporting the development of new businesses.

• Build-in success for new ventures through the provision of expert advice and support. New Start Up Scotland aims to achieve these goals by providing pre-application support to entrepreneurs, affordable loans on clear terms, ongoing mentoring and support, and access to useful product and service offers that would not normally be available to new businesses. Loans of between £500 and £25,000 are available over a period of 1-5 years. The average loan amount awarded is £6,000.

Loans are offered at a fixed interest rate of 6% over a term of up to five years.

ScotRail Reopens Station Community - Regeneration Fund (SCRF) Scotland

This scheme aims to make use of disused station buildings in Scotland as either: a business meeting passenger or community needs; or a community project which contributes to the local community.

The Station Community Regeneration Fund (SCRF) is a £1.5 million initiative funded by Transport Scotland and ScotRail to encourage the re-use and regeneration of disused railway station

buildings.

Grants of between £5,000 and £75,000 are available.

Funding will only be provided to projects that are able to demonstrate how they will deliver at least one of the following Scottish Government strategic objectives:

• Wealthier and fairer.

• Healthier.

• Safer and stronger.

• Smarter.

• Greener.

Grants can be used to contribute towards the costs of any structural repairs and to assist with the costs of fitting out station premises for their intended use.

Andor Charitable Trust

This scheme aims to fund charitable organisations based in the UK to deliver a wide range of projects, including those focusing on:

• Medical and ancillary services (including medical research).

• Education.

• Helping the disabled.

• Helping the aged.

• Relieving poverty.

• Developing the arts.

Funding is at the discretion of the Trustees. Previous grants have been for between £1,000 and £10,000.

Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation

This scheme makes funding available to not-for-profit organisations, including charities, companies and community trusts, for projects in the areas of culture and the arts that make a real and

ongoing difference to people’s lives in the UK.

The Trustees are prioritising projects that enable people to develop their abilities and careers. Applications to fund projects that provide professional training, apprenticeships and work place experience in all areas of the arts, from stone masonry to stage electricians, will be welcomed.

Arts and Business Scotland

This scheme offers a £1 for £1 match funding scheme for any first-time sponsorship from private businesses backing the arts in Scotland.

It is open to arts organisations in Scotland who attract an eligible business to sponsor an aspect of their work. The main objectives for the programme are to:

1. increase the number of businesses sponsoring the arts in Scotland;

2. encourage cultural organisations to approach businesses which have not sponsored the arts before, or have not sponsored for at least three years;

3. encourage non-Scottish based companies to sponsor arts activities in Scotland. Eligible sponsorships can apply for a £1 for £1 matching award.

The maximum award is £40,000 and the minimum award is £1,000.

W M Mann Foundation

The Trustees prefer to focus on smaller local charities where relatively modest donations can make a difference. A particular emphasis is given to charities which benefit young people.

Central Social and Recreational Trust

This scheme makes grants available for sports clubs and organisations in the UK to provide or assist in the provision of facilities for recreation or other leisure time occupation for the

benefit of disadvantaged children who are under the age of 21 years.

Grants will generally be no more than £1,000 although the trustees will consider applications above this figure in exceptional circumstances.

Sports clubs and organisations that are affiliated to their governing body, i.e. Amateur Boxing Association of England, National Association of Clubs for Young People, Football Association, are eligible to apply.

Funding is available for the following:

• Equipment for the use of all members of the club.

• Maintenance of properties, as long as the property is owned by the club or there is a significant lease period.

All young people who are to benefit must be under 21 years of age. The Trustees will consider applications where the large majority are under 21 years.

The Richard Overall Trust

This scheme makes grants available to advance the physical education of disabled young individual people so that they can enjoy and progress in their chosen sport.

• Equipment - such as specialist sports equipment.

• Training - instructors and the use of gymnasiums.

• Clothes - track suits or footwear.

• Transport - to include fares or the hire of a specialist vehicle.

• Attendance - the purchase of tickets to sporting events.

Youth Business Scotland

This scheme will support young people, aged 18 to 30 years old, to start-up and grow a business, by providing funding and professional mentoring support. It will provide loans to businesses that have been trading between one and three years, can demonstrate commercial viability and growth potential, and have a gap in their required funding.

Loans of up to £7,500 and grants of up to £1,000 are available. Loans are charged at 4% –

repayable over a maximum of three years; however capital repayments can be initially deferred for up to six months.
