Hook: 3 mm
Yarn: Cotton, size 1, superfine, yardage: 50 g = 170 m.
I used: 52 g for size ”small” (grey/beige), 78 g for size ”medium”,
(mint), 96 g for size ”xxl” (pink). Brand: Mayflower.
Though you can use any yarn/hook size you want!
Stitches: Double crochet (dc), chains (ch), slip stitch (ss), single
crochet (sc), decreased double crochet (dc dec), increase (inc),
Stitch pattern: The double crochet stitches are not crocheted
through the loops in the stitch but in the holes between each stitch
Decrease: By crocheting 2 stitches together to one.
Increase: By crocheting 2 stitches in one stitch.
After each round: Finish with 1 ss in the 2nd
ch in the beginning
of the round, ch 2 and turn over your work. The 2 chains doesn't
count as a stitch but is made to connect the round. The 1st
made in the hole between the 2 chains and the last double crochet
from the round before. The round is finished by skipping the last
hole on the round.
After every row: Finish with 1 dc in the last hole, ch 2 and turn
over. The 2 chains here counts as the first stitch.
Size: Can be crocheted in all sizes – is crocheted after
Start by crocheting the one bra cup from the center and out in
rounds, then you crochet rows on half of the bra cup and the back
strap is made out from the side.
Lastly you crochet the neck strap out from the top of the bra cup
and you crochet a strap to weave through the two bra cups.
MEASUREMENTS (video 1:04)
Measure yourself over the bust – from one side to the other – over the
fullest part of your bust.
Divide by 2
1) 31 cm / 2 = 15,5 cm
The diameter of the bra cup needs to measure 15,5 cm
When you crochet the bra cup you stop when the diameter of the circle has
2) Below bust:
Measure yourself all the way around your body – below your bust.
Subtract 20 cm
2) 75 cm – 20 = 55 cm
bra cups + the length of the back strap needs to measure 55 cm in total.
3) Length of the back strap:
To find out how long the back strap needs to be, you need to add
measurem 1 + 1 and subtract from measurement 2. Then divide by 2.
3) Measurement 1+1 – measurement 2
15,5 +15,5 = 31 cm
55 cm – 31 cm = 24 cm
24/2= 12 cm
BRA CUPS (video 1:53)
Is crocheted from the center and out in rounds. You turn over after each round. The 2 chains doesn't count as a stitch but you still crochet into the 2nd chain. When the
circle reaches measurement 1 in diameter you stop.
Round 1: Ch 4, connect to a ring with 1 ss in the 1st ch, ch 2. Make 12 dc into the ring
= 12 dc on the round.
Round 2: Make 2 dc into each hole = 24 dc on the round. You skip the last hole on each round and make the first dc in the first hole.
Round 3: *Make 1 dc in the first hole, 2 dc in the next*. Repeat from * to * = 36 dc on the round
Round 4: Make 1 dc in each hole = 36 dc on the round
Round 5: *1 dc in the first 2 holes, 2 dc in the 3rd hole* repeat from * til * = 48 dc on
Round 6: *1 dc in the first 2 holes, 2 dc in the 4th hole* repeat from * to * = 60 dc on
Round 7: *1 dc in the first 4 holes, 2 dc in the 5th hole* repeat from * to * = 72 dc on
Round 8: Make 1 dc in each hole = 72 dc on the round.
Round 9-xx: Continue as explained above with 3 rounds of inc followed by 1 round
without inc until you have measurement 1 in diameter. Chain 2 and turn over.
ROWS UNDER THE BRA CUP
Here you are going to crochet rows under the bra cup.
The 2 ch in the beginning of each row counts as the 1st stitch.
For every row you make 3 extra stitches spread out on the row. You decrease with 2
stitches at the beginning and 2 stitches at the end of the row. Stop when you have
the length you want.
Row 1: Make 2 dc dec, then 1 dc in each hole (+ 3 extra stitches spread out on the row) until you have 4 stitches left on the row. Make 2 dc dec, ch 2 and turn over. Row 2: Repeat row 1 until you have the length you want.
BACK STRAP (video 10:47)
Now you crochet on the side of the rows that you made under the bra cup.
1 row measures around 1 cm.
1. Number of stitches on the bra cup / 12 = extra stitches to crochet on row 1 (video 11:41) 2. Number of stitches on the first row of the back strap – 4 = total dec (video 12:56)
3. Number or rows in total on the back strap / number of total dec = how often you dec (video
Exaxmple: 84 / 12 = 7 11 - 4 = 7 12 / 7 = 1,7
Therefore I dec on every 1,7th row (around every/every other row)
Row 1: Ch 2 (first stitch), then make 1 dc into the same row and 2 dc into each row. When you reach the bra cup make the number of stitches that matches the
calculation 1. Crochet as usual between the stitches, ch 2 and turn over your work.
Row 2: Make 1 dc dec, then 1 dc into each hole, ch 2 and turn over. You only dec in that side of the row.
Row 3-xx: Crochet back and forth and dec as often as calculation 2 and 3 says, until you have 4 stitches on the row and the back strap matches your measurement 3. Ch 2 and turn over – make 1 dc into each hole.
Crochet back and forth without dec, until the whole strap measures around 90 cm.
NECK STRAP (video 14:58)
The neck strap consists of 7 stitches and 20 rows. Afterwards you make 1 dc dec in the beginning of each row until you have 4 stitches left on the row. Afterwards the
thin part of the strap is made.
Firstly find the middle of the bra cup (it doesn't have to be perfect). Mark the 1st and
Row 1: Make 1 ss around the first hole, ch 2 (first stitch), then make 1 dc into each of the next 6 holes, ch 2 and turn over.
Row 2: Make the 1st dc in the first hole, then 1 dc in each of the next holes, ch 2 and
Crochet rows with 1 dc into each hole until the strap measures around 20 cm. Now dec with 1 dc dec in the beginning of each row until you have 4 dc left on the row.
Continue crocheting rows with 1 dc into each stitch, no dec, until the full length of the strap measures about 70 cm. Break off the yarn and crochet the other strap the same way. Break off the yarn.
STRAP (video 17:36)
Ch 200 lm and make 1 ss into each chain, break off the yarn. You can also just chain
180-200 and not make any slip stitches (if you want the strap to be thinner).
Now weave in the strap through the two bra cups (video 18:36). Leave a couple of holes between each time you weave it in.
Try on the top to see how much you want to be able to close up the front of the top. You can also crochet an edge over the bra cups making 3 single crochet around each hole and skipping 2 holes to create a more solid edge.
Make 1 more bra cup. The bra cups needs to be mirrored and not identical. So before the last round on your second bra cup don't turn over, instead continue in the same direction as the round before.
Now you can weave in the loose ends.
