We are dedicated to the goals of educational excellence, preparation for college & careers, & the development of a high level of citizenship.
Moriah Central School proclaims its instructional technology mission to be the provision of a technological environment that promotes learning and opportunity for all students in our community. We are dedicated to the goals of providing faculty, staff & students the resources necessary to use technology as a tool to achieve educational excellence & preparation for college & careers.

Plan Summary
Moriah Central School is committed to integrating various technologies with existing instructional strategies to improve student achievement in alignment with the new standards. We recognize the need to restructure the learning environment to provide student-centered learning, problem solving, and exploration. We must continue to investigate the best ways to provide easy and ready access to technology that will enable staff to meet the educational and operational goals of the new standards; to ensure the availability of technology to students(including those with disabilities and English language learners); to encourage communications within the school, the district, and the community. Technology has become an essential part of school and community learning. It not only accommodates different learning styles, but can also motivate students to become more active in the learning process in the classroom and beyond. Teachers can facilitate student-led exploration, discovery, and research through technology. At present time, we have computers with internet and network capability in every classroom, and we have an acceptable use policy in place for students. We have computer labs at both elementary and secondary levels including two mobile labs. We have interactive white board technology in every classroom. We have 2 networked color laser printers, 7 multifunction printers and many networked laser printers. Additional cameras, imaging, e-readers, tablets and multimedia devices have also been purchased. We also have a distance learning lab in place.
Objectives
As we plan for the future, we look with pride on our accomplishments. Much remains to be done, however, as technology is ever-changing. The primary areas of focus are:
PreK-12 Instructional Program Development utilizing district wide hardware and software
To use technology to improve student literacy levels and English Language Arts skills and mathematics Strategies: Increase integration of effective early literacy software for pre-K through grade 2
Strategies: Utilize standard based assessment programs to generate baseline assessment data and allow for ongoing progress monitoring for the school year

3. Please summarize the planning process used to develop the instructional technology plan. Please include the stakeholder groups participating and outcomes of the instructional technology plan development meetings.
The planning process for the District involved multiple meetings which included multiple stakeholders(teachers, parents, administration, network technicians and staff). Over the course of multiple meetings, the current infrastructure and hardware were discussed as well as a list of potential technological improvements and professional development was generated to ensure staff and students had the necessary tools for 21st century learning objectives.
June 24, 2014: Discussed the need for additional mobile devices, but was put on hold due to lack of funding. March 17, 2015: Updates were made to the technology plan.
June 17, 2015: A technology survey was created to assess the needs of students in the classrooms and what types of devices and professional development would be beneficial. Work was done on the technology plan and the technology plan survey.
July 7, 2015: Results from a technology survey were also shared with the technology committee to ensure all stakeholders had an opportunity to share concerns, make requests, and provide an explanation on how the increased availability of technology equipment and improved infrastructure would support the improvement of student academic success in the classroom. The main challenge in the District is the lack of appropriate funding needed to close the gap between our current level of technology and the District's goals. We also face challenges in the area of professional development opportunities related to technology as much of our current professional development is geared towards Common Core instruction. We are also facing challenges related to enough wireless access to support the wireless devices that we would like to add to the District.

Currently, students with disabilities utilize technology to help enhance their individualized educational programs. Students are instructed at an early age the basic components of a computer and taught basic typing skills that the student will use throughout his/her academic career. For students who have severe high needs, a more complex assistive technology program may need to be designed and implemented to help student academic achievement. The District currently utilizes BOCES assistive technology services to help those students who demand a high assistive technology educational program. Staff also receives professional development on assistive technology devices and software that allows students the opportunity for academic growth.
The District would like to purchase one-click mice and utilize touch screen devices and headphones for our students with disabilities to help enhance their education. The use of this adaptive technology would provide improved access for our students.

After surveying and interpreting results, the District will focus on availability of individual technology devices that will open the door for a wide range of learning opportunities within individual classrooms. Some of the technological devices the District is seeking to obtain are additional mobile lab units consisting of tablets and laptops which will allow staff and students the opportunity to expand how students research and interpret
information for classroom activities that align with the common core learning standards. Areas that we hope to improve on include differentiated instruction, consultant teaching, project based learning activities, remediation and enrichment, interactive lessons and the ability to progress monitor student learning on a daily basis.

Professional Development in technology is an integral part of the district wide plan. Participation in BOCES, in-house and out-sourced training provides ongoing adequate training to the District’s staff. The District will also utilize webinars designed around specific software for various programs. The District will also be utilizing professional development opportunities through NERIC to expand on staff knowledge in the areas of Office 365 and SmartNotebook.
Professional Development webinars will be utilized for training on Hands On, an Rti software program designed to track and help in the ongoing progress monitoring of students in need of additional help. This training will target staff, parents and students.
Hands on training will be provided for iReady, a standards based assessment tool used to assess students on CCLS. This is also aligned to our APPR for staff evaluation on improvement of student mastering of CCLS. This training will target staff, parents, students, and administration.
Professional Development webinars will be utilized for TeacherEase, SBRC aligned to CCLS. This training will target staff, parents, students and administration.
