GREETING CARD OPTION

After logging into For-Mail, click the ‘create mailing’ option on the homepage.

Check the box next to Greeting Card and click ‘next’.

SET YOUR PREFERENCES FOR YOUR

GREETING CARD

Give you mailing a name (so you can easily find it in My Mailings in Admin if you wish to view or repeat it) Standard (3days) or First Class (2days) delivery?

Send immediately or defer to a set date?

Choose the address name format; eg Andy Sample or Mr A Sample.

Choose “Managed” to be advised of any undelivered cards returned to sender. This costs 2.5p + VAT extra per Greeting Card sent.

CHOOSE OR DESIGN YOUR GREETING

CARD

You have a choice here – you can :

a. upload from your PC a template Greeting card that you have already designed b. use a template Greeting card you have already saved in your For-Mail library, or c. design a new template using the For-Mail editor

Upload from your PC

Clicking next will take you straight to the ‘edit mailing list’ (shown in section 4).

Or choose a template from the For-Mail

library

Simply click on an image of a Greeting card template you have already used and saved into the For-Mail library.

Select your existing Greeting card template from your PC.

Choose a font for the name and address.

c.

Or ‘Design Greeting Card’ using For-Mail

You can create Greeting Cards within For-Mail.

Select the template layout (Landscape, Landscape with border, Portrait or Portrait with border) of the Greeting card here, the 4 options are shown in the image below.

Next you will be asked whether you wish to upload an image of your own or select a picture from the For-Mail picture gallery.

Click the ‘design new greeting card’ option to start a Greeting card from scratch.

Click your preferred template here and you will be taken to the next step.

This shows the layout preview of your selected template.

To upload your own image, click the “Upload image” option.

Once you have uploaded or picked your image you will then be taken to the template designer.

Note that if you wish to have text as well as pictures on page 1 of your Greeting card, as shown, you have to create that as an image and then upload the image as the background photo

Page 1 is the picture side of the Greeting Card.

Page 2 is the opposite side of page 1 which will be blank.

For the picture side, select an image from the For-Mail picture gallery or upload one from your PC. It must be a .jpg, .jpeg, .bmp, .gif, .png, .tif or .tiff.

Crop or rotate your selected image.

Opting to ‘select image’ will take you to the For-Mail picture gallery, where you can choose one of our pre-saved images

The ‘upload image’ option will bring you to this screen where you can browse your directory for images

Once you have your image for the first page of your Greeting card, move onto page 3 where you can edit your personal greeting including tags.

Please Note: Page 2 is the opposite side of page 1 and will always be blank.

On the final page of your Greeting card (page 4), you have the option to edit the address font.

Page 3 (the Greeting) you can edit To, Greeting and From message element.

Edit functions for different elements

Select tags to use within the To and From elements.

Page 4 (the address) you can edit the font of the address.

Click “Next” button to proceed.

The page displayed below is the final chance to make changes to your Greeting card before moving on. It also allows you to download the Greeting card as a word doc or PDF for you to save to your PC.

Download your new Greeting card as a word file. View your template. Note the address and any variables will be loaded in later.

Go back to amend either side of your Greeting card Clicking ‘save template’ will take you to the next page.

Download your new Greeting card as a PDF file

Upload a different picture from your computer if you wish.

Start your Greeting card design again.

ADD A NAME AND ADDRESS

Once you have saved your Greeting card template or selected one from your library it’s time to add the names and addresses. You’ll see the screen below called “Edit mailing list”.

If you are just sending to one or a few recipients and you don’t already have a spread sheet of their contact details, choose “ADD NEW ADDRESS” and fill in the relevant fields for each recipient as in the example below.

If you have a file of contact details (e.g. an Excel, Text or CSV file) you can bulk mail them by uploading the file. See the Appendix for how to do this.

CHECK YOUR ADDRESSES

After you have added all your addresses For-Mail will check and correct them when you hit the “Validate” button to avoid poor address penalties.

For-Mail validation result: The ABC Limited address is fictional so it shows a yellow “?” This means it would incur a postal surcharge if sent out. The Forth address was correctly validated so the cross has changed to a tick:

VIEW AND APPROVE THE PROOF

With the document and addresses in place and validated we move on to the approval stage.

Click on “VIEW PROOF” below the document image and check all pages of your mailing proofs (up to 3 per mailing).

View a summary of your mailing or download an excel copy of your validated mailing list to save to your PC.

Click here to view your proof

Make any changes to your mailing by clicking any of these links.

PRICE CHECK AND FINAL APPROVAL

The second part of the approval screen is the mailing cost.

View your mailing summary and cost then click ‘approve’ to move on to the payment section

Enter a PO reference here. When you click ‘pay on invoice’ the mail will be sent and you can check
