The surface of a freshly ground component may appear to be fine, but unseen damages on or below the surface, when gone undetected, can lead to serious problems for the end user.

Undetected grinding burn or heat treatment defect may cause:

Internal quality failure on production line (extra costs: rework, scrap)

External quality failure

(warranty cases, brand value loss)

RoboScan L provides fast and flexible measurements

with high repeatability for horizontally oriented, up to

2500 mm long parts.

Measurement programming software

Measurement programming software takes care of running the robot when wanted programs are created. Creating measurement programs is made easy. Measurement programming software is connected with ViewScan measurement data analyzing program. Measurement programming software depends on the part to be measured.

As standard there are two options:

Stresstech Teaching App

suitable for vertically oriented parts like hypoid gears, bearings/

Html based human-machine interface

Suitable for shafts e.g. for measuring camshafts lobes and crankshaft journals.

Three (3) ready meade measurement programs are included to standard system.

More programs can be purchased as an options.

Part indexing

Laser indexing/Infrared camera indexing for sample orientation definition.

Shaft bed

The system has a movable sample bed on the guide rail to support the shaft, while preparing for the measurement. The distance between the supports is adjustable.

The bed is equipped with easily exchangeable support V-blocks.

RoboScan M standard system features 2/2 Controls

Touch screen with integrated control panel including following buttons:

Emergency Stop push button Start

StopAcknowledge/reset safety System initialization Interrupt measuring Step-by-step mode

3 empty spots for e.g. “Robot home position” option Horizontal rotation unit with manual chuck

RoboScan M is equipped with an ABB MU-200 motor unit, which rotates the sample. The stand is equipped with a 3-jaw chuck with as an option exchangeable custom jaws. Chuck can be replaced with drive head.

Tailstock

The tailstock clamps the part to be measured between the centers automatically when the safety enclosure doors are closed and a measurement has begun. The whole

tailstock is moved automatically on the linear guide for adjusting to samples of different lengths.

Keyboard and monitor mount

Measurement programming software Stresstech Teaching App

Stresstech Teaching App is used to create and modify measurement programs for samples. Measurement program module is created for each different type of sample to be measured. The ViewScan software

association function will call this program module when the template is selected from ViewScan.

Part dimensions are taught manually by moving robot

correct positions. Measurement parameters like

measurement cycle and scan speed is determined in

Teaching App .

(11)

RoboScan L

Measurement programming software Html-based human-machine interface

The new html-based human-machine interface (HMI) includes a recipe manager which is used to edit and manage part data. This part data defines measured part surfaces based on values from part blueprints instead of having to teach each move point to robot manually. All the created recipes are stored in the system hard drive as separate files for easy backups.

Depending on the systems level of automation the system can be either operated via Viewscan or the HMI.

In Viewscan controlled solutions the associated recipe

(part data) is loaded when the measurement template is

opened in Viewscan before the measuring cycle can be

started. Alternatively in the more automated solutions

the system can automatically open the associated

template in Viewscan once the measuring cycle is

started.

RoboScan L

Mandatory accessories: Barkhausen noise sensor

Barkhausen noise sensors are available in many different types, shapes and sizes. Sensors are completely customizable to suit any operation. All sensors require sensor fixture, inbuild or fixable.

For RoboScan there are manual and automated sensor fixtures depending on sensor type and automation level of the system. Sensor fixtures have proximity switches for crash detection. The crash detection switch is activated if the sensor´s inwards linear movement is too large. One fixture depending on the solution can be equipped up to 2 sensors for

multichannel measurements.

Advanced design in sensor fixtures guarantee steady contact between sensor and part to be measured. Measurement contact is one of the most critical key factors when performing Barkhausen noise measurement.

Options for sensor/tool change Automated sensor/tool change

Sensor storage rack for 3/4 sensors

Automated robot sensors are docked to the sensor storage rack in the safety enclosure. The robot automatically picks up the needed sensor from the rack for the measurement.

Pneumatic marker and fixture for robot

Pneumatic marker is usually used to mark the first measurement

position of the sample before starting the measurement. Marking can

be excluded from a measurement program, if necessary.

Automated sensor cleaning brush

100250 Special jaws for chuck

100260

Options for hardware, manual and inline use

Special jaws for chuck

Special jaws can be designed for parts that cannot be clamped to standards jaws.

Automated sensor cleaning brush for robot

When the sensor is used for measurement, dirt from the sample surface is gathered and the results may become unreliable. The brush removes the dirt from the sensor. It is used when the sensor has travelled the distance defined by the user.

Light curtain safety system for RoboScan

The light curtain is equipped with a safety stop function. To be able to run automatic measurement, the light curtain must not be interrupted. Interrupting the light curtain stops all automatic movements. When the light curtain is not activated, only manual operation is possible.

Pneumatic chuck for robot

Pneumatic chuck automatically clamps the part to the rotation unit. Pressure sensors recognize whether the chuck is open or closed.

RFID detection for shaft bed V-blocks

The V-blocks have RFID detection for the PLC to check that the installed pair of

V-blocks is the same as in the measurement program Light curtain safety system for RoboScan 100224

Options for software

ViewScan option: Other language module

ViewScan option: 2D code reader module and 2D code reader With barcode reader support it is possible to associate barcodes to measurement

templates of different parts. This automates selecting a template and reduces thepossibility of choosing a wrong template. Furthermore, it is possible to add more information to measurement comments. Extra information can be coded into the barcode and ViewScan will extract it as defined. The extra information can be handled in several different ways.

Barcode support adds the following features to the standard ViewScan:

Opening a template that has been associated to a barcode

Parsing the barcode and filling in the comment field with values from the barcode

Passing the barcode to a TCL script, with which it is possible to fill in more sophisticated values to the comment field.

ViewScan option: Batch support module

A batch of measurement templates that are executed automatically one after

Options for software, inline use

Line integration software

The system can be built to support automatic loading and unloading of the part. Includes software functions as well as interfaces for software and safety connections to the loading system. Functions either according to Stresstech specification or customized to customer needs. Software communication to the loading system is via fieldbus, for example EtherCAT or Profinet*. Safety connections are hardwired* and includes safety door/light curtain status and emergency stop button status in both directions.

Other options

Safety

During the normal automatic operation of RoboScan, the operator access is provided either through physical door or light curtain. If the door of the safety enclosure is open or the light curtain is interrupted, automatic measurement and

movement of the robot are prevented by the hardware safety interlocks. When the door is open, only manual operation is possible.

RoboScan system also includes an ABB safety option called

“SafeMove”. This option limits the robot working area in both manual and automated operation.

Emergency stopping

Pressing the emergency stop buttons the system stops immediately, leaving the power on in the control systems.

Safety features of inline systems are designed on a case-by-

case basis .
