WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANTS

(2)

The company was established by Ing. Jan Topol in 1990, originally as a design office for water management structures.

With the implementation of its own internationally patented technologies, the company‘s activities gradually focused on the production of containerised wastewater treatment plants and the independent supply of treatment technologies. The company was transformed in 2000 into TopolWater, s.r.o.

The company maintains its leading position through excellent development of new technologies which it now has patented worldwide. The company is ready to provide wastewater treatment plants for capacities ranging from 1 house to a neighbourhood with up to 50,000 residents at the highest technical level.

Ing. Jan Topol

founder of TopolWater, s.r.o.

ABOUT COMPANY

The company specialises exclusively on the issue of wastewater treatment. Only by focusing research and development in a single area is it possible to achieve the highest technical level of products and services, from consulting and design preparations, on to delivery of the equipment and the service and operation of wastewater treatment systems.

(3)

The company’s business activities are focused on exporting its pro- ducts around the world. Foreign sales have accounted for a majority of the company’s overall sales in recent years and are primarily completed through authorised dealers in individual countries.

After award of numerous international patents, company management turned its focus on perfecting the design of its products and delivering sophisticated controls and ease of use.

The development of municipal treatment plants is moving towards greater automation, comfortable control and remote control.

We hold an ISO 9001 quality certificate and we promote the same idea that Charles Rolls, the founder of Rolls - Royce, put forward more than a hundred years ago: „Success is always based on qua- lity and never price. People remember poor quality long after they have forgotten about the low price.”

Over the years, the small family-owned business has been

transformed into a medium-sized enterprise, employing more than a hundred employees and exporting its products to many countries around the world. However, we still preserve the values of

a family-owned business which is not just short-term profit, but whose goal is to gain and maintain the long-term trust of customers and business partners.

CORPORATE PHILOSOPHY

This type of plant is based on a system with SBR reactors. This technology is delivered in concrete tanks with capacities for population equivalents from 300 to 50,000. The operation of the treatment plant is controlled by an industrial computer which optimizes the operation of the treatment plant in real time depending on the amount and pollution of wastewater and monitors the functionality of individual components. A matter of course in the implementation of municipal treatment plants is the offer of complete services, from the creation of the project, implementation of the work, ensuring trial operation to the subsequent operation of the wastewater treatment plant.

COMPANY PROGRAM

THREE MAIN PILLARS

MONOBLOK-T AND FLEXIDIBLOK MUNICIPAL WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANTS

These plants are specifically for establishments that are primarily focused on the food and meatpacking industries and agricultural enterprises. They are also based on SBR technology, but the biological stage is preceded by a number of different levels of chemical and mechanical pre-treatment stages, depending on the nature of the specific wastewater.

INDUSTRIAL WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANTS

TOPAS domestic wastewater treatment plant technology is protected by a number of international patents. These systems are used in single-family dwellings and holiday homes, by municipalities and at smaller establishments as compact, stand-alone plastic containers. They excel thanks to high efficiency, reliable operation and fully automated control over the treatment process which is optimized depending on the quantity and quality of wastewater. These systems are typically produced for population equivalents of up to 500.

(4)

TOPAS wastewater treatment plants are designed to treat all biologically polluted wastewater for population equivalents (PE) of 2–500. They are primarily used in:

single-family dwellings

holiday houses and cottages

workshops and commercial premises

bed & breakfasts, hotels and restaurants

smaller settlements

reconstruction of non-functioning plants

installation in cesspool and septic systems.

TOPAS technology is patent-protected across Europe and in most developed countries in the world. It makes it possible to equip state-of- -the-art technologies with even the smallest sizes of treatment plants and thus produce a virtually unattended installation.

MAIN ADVANTAGES OF TOPAS TECHNOLOGY

Control unit with Wi-Fi connectivity – provides full control over the wastewater treatment plant with the ability to configure the system and check its status using an app on a smart device (mobile phone, laptop or tablet). The unit is ready for smart home integration.

Ease of use – the control unit continuously monitors the quantity of wastewater and automatically optimises wastewater treatment plant operation without the need for operator intervention.

Recreational use – the wastewater treatment plant automatically switches to a special mode when flow stops completely

(i.e., in a holiday houses) which ensures full biological functionality.

WWTP TOPAS was tested by an independent special laboratory to maintain function for three to six months without inflow.

Energy savings – all energy consumption depends on

the measured volume of wastewater. The electricity consumption is minimised during reduced or no wastewater inflow.

Operation flexibility – the accumulation tank at the inlet ensures the equalization of the impact inflows.

Automatic sludge removal – the control unit enables regular pumping of excess sludge from the bioreactor into a separate sludge tank.

Sand filter

– the built-in sand filter is used for mechanical tertiary treatment of biologically treated waste- water – usually before subsequent use or use in irrigation.

Chemical dosing

– based on the amount of wastewater and the required quality of the effluent, chemicals are added to remove phosphorus or to adjust the pH.

UV lamp

– eliminates viruses and bacteria, thereby disinfecting the water for subsequent use, such as in a pond or reservoir.

GSM/IoT module

– for data transmission and remote control of TOPAS treatment plants.

TOPAS plants are produced from plastic or steel- plastic sandwich panels. The treatment plants are installed directly in the excavation without the need for concreting on a compacted bed or on a concrete foundation slab, depending on the size of the wastewater treatment plant.

Unique design of sandwich-panel tanks – static loading is carried by the steel while the welded plastic is responsible for waterproofing and corrosion protection (patent protected).

Self-supporting tanks

– all types of treatment systems are fully self-supporting with no need for concreting.

Flexible inflow depth

– inflow depth is fully adjustable to match site requirements within a range of 0.4 to 1.5 m below the terrain.

Above-standard additional equipment Plant construction

TOPAS DOMESTIC WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANTS

The technology offered by TOPAS is a unique application of the best available technologies with fully automated controls for the smallest domestic wastewater treatment plants.

This guarantees the maximum reliability of the plant itself with no special user qualifications required.

TOPAS wastewater treatment plants are tested in accordance with European legislation and have the relevant conformity marking:

TOPAS WWTP SYSTEM WITH CONNECTION TO CENTRAL MONITORING APPLICATION

TOPAS 5–10 WWTP SYSTEM INSTALLATIONS

WITH CENTRAL MONITORING FOR MUNICIPALITIES (IN CZECH REPUBLIC)

TopolWater has developed and offers the ability to connect all its TOPAS WWTP models to a central monitoring application. It is used to remotely monitor the status of all connected plants. The WWTP control unit simply sends updated data to the monitoring application on a regular basis or on-demand. The application permits the visualisation of the statuses of all WWTPs in a transparent, tabular form and basic values are shown in graph form.

We supply the central monitoring application not only to municipalities but also to business partners and service companies that use it for remote monitoring of the treatment plants installed and operated by them.

“ TopolWater offered us a comprehensive municipal sewerage design, including monitoring services for a period of ten years. The project was completed in 2019 and a total of 28 treatment plants were installed. Cooperation with

TopolWater was constructive, both at the time of implementation and during the provision of subsequent service and operation.“

– Jan Klaus, Mayor of Vlkaneč – Přibyslavice

“ The central monitoring application for domestic wastewater treatment plants is very beneficial for us. We have the necessary information regarding the operation of individual treatment plants and any malfunctions. WWTP TOPAS have a self-supporting tank without the need for a concrete slab and the inlet height is adjustable. These factors lower construction costs and simplify installation. We handle the central monitoring application and regular maintenance service ourselves. TopolWater provides us with the necessary assistance and support.“

– Ladislav Příhonský, Councillor and Monitoring system Administrator for the municipality of Janůvky

M U N IC IP A L W A S TE W ATE R TR E ATM ENT P L A NT S

• High outflow water quality

• Fully automatic operation

• Remote control of WWTP operation by a central dispatching

• The treatment system may be placed into service at inflow rates of as little as 10 % of design capacity or upon delivery of water from cesspools

• Low WWTP operating costs

MUNICIPAL WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANTS

MONOBLOK-T, FLEXIDIBLOK

Treatment plants of this type are designed for municipal wastewater sys- tems for population equivalents (PE) of 300 to 50,000. All treatment plant tanks are typically right-angled and are combined in a single structure.

Treatment plants rated for PE of up to 5,000 are fully covered.

The operation of the treatment plant is controlled by an industrial computer, which optimizes the operation of the treatment plant in real time depending on the volume and quality of wastewater. The WWTP control system also supports a remote data connection to a central dispatching via phone line, mobile operator or the Internet. This allows for effective management and control of several WWTPs by one experience technologist.

This is a major advantage for safely operating treatment plants as it reduces dependence on qualified local staff. The system is fully automatic with minimal requirements in terms of specialised staff. This can be done by remote data transmission to the TopolWater central dispatching or to the WWTP operator.

The use of SBR technology significantly reduces space requirements compared to conventional technologies.

Compact structures are utilised. The entire treatment plant fits in a single block, either fully or partially covered.

Treatment plant operation does not require the constant presence of an operator and is fully automatic.
