We hope you all had a relaxing and safe Spring Break. We are happy to have had come back to such great weather, until now...

Thank-you to our Parent Advisory Council for their support during I Love to Read Month. They planned and executed a very successful Read-a-Thon. We would like to thank all families who supported this event for our school.

Once again, we held our Parent Conferences virtually via TEAMS on Thursday, March 18th and Friday, March 19th. Despite having a few minor technical glitches on the Wednesday, March 17th kindergarten conferences, these were all resolved, and conferences proceeded smoothly. We would like to thank all parents who participated in the conferences.

Prior to Spring Break, students were fortunate to participate in an outdoor Spring Activity Week orga-nized by our Physical Education Staff, M Boulley and M Kilpatrick. Despite a few cold days, all students had a wonderful time. Mme Comte and Mme Dudar were happy to be involved in the activities to sup-port our kindergarten students.

In addition, we also held another Spirit Week the last week of March. Students and staff had a great time taking part in the various daily themes.

Students and staff were encouraged to wear red to mark Autism Awareness day, which fell during Spring Break, but which we celebrated on April 6th. We will also be celebrating Friendship Day on April 14th. For this event, we are encouraging staff and students to wear pink.

For the week of April 12th–16th, we will be hosting our final PBIS blitz of the year. This blitz will be a re-fresher for students on healthy practices while at school during this pandemic. Students who receive a blue ticket will redeem them in the office for an emoticon École Centrale stress ball and a sunshine email from administration.

Our final bus evacuation practice for all students will be held on April 27th. In addition, our kindergarten students will also have their bus evacuation on April 28th in the morning. All students will be required to wear a mask for this practice.

Remember, April 22nd is Earth Day for more information

please go to

https://www.earthday.org/

Earth Day is a name used for 2 similar global observances. While some peo-ple celebrate Earth Day around the time of the March Equinox, others ob-serve the occasion on April 22 each year. Earth Day aims to inspire awareness of and appreciation for earth's environment. It's not to be confused with

Earth Hour.

What Do People Do ?

The April 22 Earth Day is usually celebrated with outdoor performances, where individuals or groups perform acts of service to earth. Typical ways of observing Earth Day include planting trees, picking up roadside trash, con-ducting various programs for recycling and conservation, using recyclable containers for snacks and lunches. Some people are encouraged to sign peti-tions to governments, calling for stronger or immediate action to stop global warming and to reverse environmental destruction. Television stations fre-quently air programs dealing with environmental issues..
