Best safe and secure
practices
For cards transactions
Maintaining the card and PIN number
Using a card is highly valuable and provides opportunities compared to cash, security always being higher when using cards. A lost or stolen card does not necessarily mean losing money, if it is used following best practices of security.
A card is a tool that enables you to make payments and withdraw cash, therefore you should treat your card with due care, in the same way as you would treat cash. Do not allow your card to be photocopied or photographed, be careful since the card front and back side contain sensitive data such as: card number, expiry date (front), three digit code – CVV2 (back), etc. which may be misused if fraudulent persons obtain them.
Keep your PIN secret and treat your card with due care,
Memorize your PIN, do not keep your card PIN or other card related data in a computer, mobile phone or on paper. Never store your PIN and card together.
Do not record or use your card PIN in such a way that would enable it to be revealed to another person.
Never show your card PIN to anyone (including bank staff, police, etc.)
Using the ATM
Be careful during use of ATMs, never complete a transaction if anything is unusual about the ATM, pay special attention to any equipment attached on the card reader. Cover the PIN keyboard with your other hand while entering your PIN, in this way you will keep your PIN secure from observation by unauthorized persons or equipment. If during use of card you notice anything unusual about the ATM, even if you have already initiated a transaction, cancel it and inform the ProCredit Bank Call Center. Avoid using an ATM that looks suspicious or unusual in any way. When using an ATM, look for scratches, glue or remains of adhesive tape which can be indicators of criminal activity on the ATM.
Become accustomed to the look and feel of ATM, outside appearance and standard signs.
Do not accept assistance from strangers when operating with ATM card. If your card has been confiscated by an ATM of a different bank, please ask for immediate blocking of your card by informing the bank call center.
Never give your card to anyone, treat it as you would treat cash.
Using POS (Sales Terminals)
When using your card, every time you submit it for payment, remain present while your card is being used and never allow it to be outside your line of vision.
After the transaction has been completed, an invoice will be printed.
- In some stores you may be asked to sign the payment slip in addition to entering your PIN.
- Ensure that your name, transaction date, card number (last digits) and the invoiced amount is accurate before you sign the slip, by comparing the amount with the fiscal voucher.
It is suggested that you always keep the invoice and fiscal voucher until the payment is reflected in your account balance.
Be careful during using the POS, do not perform a transaction if you see anything unusual about the POS, look for any attached equipment.
Immediately inform the ProCredit Bank Call Center.
Cover your PIN keyboard with the other hand while you enter your PIN number, in this way you will protect your PIN from unauthorized persons or equipment, and from observation by camera which may be installed at the points of sale.
Internet Use
During internet purchases, when you are entering your card data, ensure that your computer screen is well adjusted so you are the only one who can see it.
Try to avoid use of public computers for purchases. It is recommended that you connect from your home or from your personal computer and ensure your applications such as ‘Firewall’ and Anti-Virus/Spyware/Malware are updated and active.
Do not respond to electronic messages/telephone calls that request information on your bank account, PIN, iPIN, internet password as even ProCredit Bank, VISA and MasterCard will never request such confidential information through electronic mail or telephone. Limit disclosure of your personal data such as your personal number, passport number, full date of birth, card number in a web page, communication window or social network (e.g. Facebook, Twitter) or elsewhere in order to reduce the risk of your identity theft.
Do not give your card details if you receive an offer by phone/email or phone message for a product/service/promotion or investment opportunity you have not initiated, but even if you initiated it, before proceeding with payment, please take every measure to stay on the safe side (check the company validity, ask for further documentation, consult with your bank, etc..).
Any time you make a payment or purchase via the Internet, please read all company terms and conditions carefully since upon confirmation and completion of payment you are entirely subject to those conditions.
