SOLUTIONS

Students who must be away from school due to health issues need to stay engaged and on track. Traditional homebound programs can be expensive to operate and difficult to staff. The FuelEd Homebound Education Program tailors a learning program for each student by seamlessly combining our extensive online course catalog, engaging technology that can be accessed anywhere, anytime, and a full range of support services. More than 100 districts today use our homebound education program as an engaging, cost-effective alternative to traditional programs.

In many districts, students—and their funding—are leaving for other education options such as online academies, charter schools, and homeschooling. Hundreds of districts have partnered with FuelEd to offer full-time online schooling to retain current students or reach new ones, to provide greater scheduling flexibility to families, and to serve increasingly diverse learner populations. Our full-time school programs are tailored to your requirements and provide everything you need for a successful program: award-winning curricula, technology tools, instructional services, teacher training, community outreach, and implementation and technical support.

Our online credit recovery program provides you with a flexible solution that helps high school students get the credits they need to graduate. Whether taken during the school year or in the summer, in a blended or full-time online environment, the FuelEd Credit Recovery curriculum uses a diagnostic-driven model that allows students to test out of the material they previously mastered so they can focus on more difficult concepts. Our certified teachers are available for real-time academic chat support in all 19 credit recovery subjects. Our flexible pricing makes offering this quality program easy and affordable.

With Fuel Education’s broad catalog, you can offer more course options—like Mandarin Chinese or AP® Microeconomics—that may be an excellent fit for

smaller classes. Our courses can be delivered at home, in-school, or anywhere the Internet is available. Choose from hundreds of courses, including six world languages, a wide variety of AP® and STEM courses, and more than 40 engaging

electives. When paired with our expert instructors—who can provide a temporary or permanent online teaching solution—you can affordably enhance your catalog and help your students prepare for the next level in school, their career, or college.

In today’s world, exceptional language skills prepare students to excel as 21st-century global citizens. Our partnership with Middlebury Interactive Languages™ means your students receive the best of world language pedagogy combined with top-notch online learning expertise. Our FuelEd Middlebury course offerings—Spanish, French, German, Mandarin Chinese, Japanese, and Latin—can be used in a full-time online, blended, or traditional classroom environment. We can train your teachers in the Middlebury immersion method of world language instruction, or you can use one of our certified teachers.

For students who have been expelled, have behavioral or psychological issues, or need alternative education for other reasons, our Alternative Learning solution provides a personalized learning experience that allows them to work independently, and at their own pace. Our program seamlessly combines our extensive online course catalog and interactive technology that can be accessed anywhere, anytime.

Some low-performing students need just a little help to get back on track while others need to learn prerequisite content that goes back more than one grade level. The FuelEd Anywhere Learning System has assessment tools that automatically identify learning gaps, even across multiple years, based on each state’s learning standards and Common Core State Standards. It then prescribes targeted content to address the deficiencies, so that teachers can provide an engaging learning path with differentiated remediation for each student—even in a traditional classroom environment.

Blended learning with Fuel Education offers the best of both worlds: award-winning, flexible curricula with a comprehensive online learning management

platform, plus face-to-face interaction with teachers and mentors when and where a student needs it. Our blended learning solutions are used by hundreds of school districts across the nation and can be offered as part of the school day, in-class, or after school—taught by your teachers or ours. Whether students are struggling or are seeking greater academic challenges, blended learning is a great way to provide more course options and greater scheduling flexibility.

Students who fall behind in reading skills in elementary school struggle not only in language arts but in other subjects where reading comprehension is important. The MARK¹² Reading program helps students in grades 3–5 who are reading two or more years below grade level. With engaging multimedia, interactive elements, and age-appropriate reading materials, MARK12 helps

students master multiple topics before moving on. It includes training support, assessment tools, and progress reports to help teachers bring their students back to grade level.

Young children are naturally eager learners who delight in exploring the world around them. EmbarK¹², an innovative one-year program recently introduced by K¹²®, our content partner, helps schools and districts give children ages 3–5

the academic foundation they need for a successful entry to kindergarten. This award-winning program combines engaging interactive online lessons with hands-on learning materials, offline activities, and high-quality children’s literature. Already used successfully in KinderCare Learning Centers across the nation, EmbarK¹² offers more than 1,200 fun, flexible activities that address essential learning concepts.

Full-Time Curriculum

for Grades K–12

The award-winning curriculum from K12 , our content partner,

currently totals more than 24,000 lessons and 100,000 multimedia components—designed especially for a full-time online environment. Unlike many course providers, K12 doesn’t just scan a textbook

and call it an online course. K12

courses have been designed and developed for online delivery from the outset, and use research-based methods to address the different ways that students learn. The courses use animation, game simulations, avatars, threaded online discussion groups, video lectures, online lessons, offline materials, and multiple forms of

assessment to help students attain mastery and demonstrate progress against learning objectives. K12

courses are integrated within a year and across years, so that lessons and skills learned in one course are continued in other courses, making this curriculum perfect for a student taking a full schedule of online courses.

FuelEd Anywhere Learning

System (ALS)

for Grades 1–12

With more than 5,500 lessons and 200,000 pages of objectives-based interactive content, FuelEd ALS is a powerful tool for highly targeted prescriptive learning and remediation.

ALS Summative and Formative Assessments make it easy for teachers to create customized learning paths for struggling students who need remediation as well as advanced learners who need accelerated coursework.

State and National Standards—

and Common Core State Standards

Our team of more than 180 curriculum specialists continually reviews state and national standards, including the Common Core State Standards (CCSS), to ensure the courses we develop are appropriately aligned. Since June 2010, we have developed each new course to fully align specifically to CCSS. We also continue to revise our courses developed prior to June 2010 to meet these standards. When the time comes for your district to implement the Common Core State Standards, you can be confident that with our courses, you will be in compliance.

FUEL EDUCATION ONLINE LEARNING SOLUTIONS BY GRADE

ALS can prescribe content based on assessment results across multiple grade levels to precisely target each student’s learning needs—whether they have significant learning gaps or they’re looking to extend their knowledge to more accelerated content. Much of the ALS content has been redesigned for use on the iPad® to deliver untethered

learning. With more than 90 language arts, math, science, social studies, and high school electives titles available on the iPad, ALS is well-suited for schools supporting a wide range of student devices or schools moving toward a Bring Your Own Device environment. This added flexibility makes it easy for students to work on their individualized learning plan in the

classroom, at the library, in learning labs, at home, or anywhere with Internet connectivity.

Middlebury Interactive

Languages™

for Grades K–12

The Middlebury Interactive suite of world languages—Spanish, French, German, Mandarin Chinese, and Latin—are available in multiple levels and are ideal for your blended learning program. We’ve partnered with Middlebury Interactive to deliver an immersive approach to world languages. The curriculum was developed at Middlebury College’s renowned language schools, which for nearly 100 years has helped business leaders, diplomats, and educators master world languages. The fun and engaging courses integrate

the five C’s—communication, cultures, connections, comparisons, and communities—at varying degrees of immersion while leveraging interactive exercises, tasks, and practices. Using age-appropriate topics and engaging themes, students learn to communicate proficiently and develop a strong foundation in grammar and vocabulary. Middlebury courses are aligned with national standards set by the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL)—and many are available on the iPad.
