THE SPIRITUALITY OF MARRAGE

Throughout the Church’s history, there has been crisis and confusion over Church teaching. Today, there is crisis and confusion surrounding the Sacrament of Marriage. As Augustine Institute President and Professor Dr. Tim Gray explains, this crisis presents an immense opportunity, as it encourages us to explore and discover the depth of this mystery, described by Pope Benedict XVI as “a Gospel in itself.” When lived faithfully and well, marriage serves as a bold witness to the love and saving power of God. AVAILABLE IN THE LIBRARY

2021 K of C weekly raffle tickets are now available!! Tickets are $ 10.00 each and good for drawings all year. Proceeds help support Tipp City Knights of Columbus Council 5129 charitable endeavors. Only 1,000 tickets are sold so get yours now before they are gone. For tickets, contact Tom Miller at 937-416-9861 or Tom McClurg at 937-524-7762.

As we all know, our situations have changed due to COVID-19. We are modifying many things we do at church. One of the things we are doing this winter is cutting back on snow removal to help save money. Based on Mass attendance, the back lot which is currently not used is not going to be plowed or treated this winter. We will continue to treat all the walks and lots normally used. We will also monitor Mass attendance, adjust as necessary and also adjust for possible larger gatherings such as Christmas.

We are live-streaming! You can now watch your home parish and Priests by going to our St. John the Baptist Facebook page (https://www. facebook.com/StJohnTippCity) or our new YouTube Channel (https://www. youtube.com/channel/UCsfCFwlg3pelu0dcn4d4NFw).

INFORMATION DESK

ST. CHRISTOPHER

Holy Hour is the second Monday of the month on the following date: January 11th. The Blessed Sacrament will be exposed at the

altar from 7:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Come for the whole hour, or for any part of the hour.

On behalf of our sisters and brothers in the 1,100 mission dioceses, the archdiocesan Mission Office is very grateful for the sacrifices you made for the World Mission Sunday annual appeal to the Holy Father’s Pontifical Mission Society. Your support this year is especially appreciated as the Covid-19 pandemic is ravaging these struggling dioceses, where medical supplies, facilities and workers are badly lacking. If you wish further information and would like to donate regularly or through your will, contact Dr. Mike Gable at mgable@catholiccinnati.org.

SPIRITUAL

Gospel Jn 1:35-42

John was standing with two of his disciples, and as he watched Jesus walk by, he said, “Behold, the Lamb of God.”

The two disciples heard what he said and followed Jesus. Jesus turned and saw them following him and said to them, “What are you looking for?”

They said to him, “Rabbi” – which translated means Teacher – “where are you staying?”

He said to them, “Come, and you will see.” So they went and saw where Jesus was staying, and they stayed with him that day.

It was about four in the afternoon. Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter,

was one of the two who heard John and followed Jesus. He first found his own brother Simon and told him,

“We have found the Messiah,” – which is translated Christ – Then he brought him to Jesus.

Jesus looked at him and said, “You are Simon the son of John;

you will be called Cephas,” – which is translated Peter.

REGISTRATION for

the 2021-2022 school year at St. John’s will begin on Tuesday,

January 12, at 7:00 in the evening

for members of our parish and those who have already had children in the program. This year we will be doing a drive-up registration. We will have you drive up where you usually drop off and start the line. You must stay in your car and only one family per car. At 7:00 we will begin giving out registration packets and taking down your first and second preferences for classes. We are probably going to keep the numbers at 9 per class. This year we have really seen an improvement in the children with the smaller classes and more one-on-one time with the teacher. We cannot guarantee any specific classes that night and you will be notified as to what class your child will be in. Please try and be as flexible as possible as we try to navigate this process. You will have until Friday to fill out the forms and get them back to us along with the non-refundable registration fee of $50.00. We will not assume your child is returning for the fall of 2021 unless you return the completed registration forms and fee. If you know someone in the community who would like to register, please have them call the center at any time or email ssexton@stjohntippcity.org to put their name on our waiting list. They will be called during open registration which begins on January 15.

MINISTRY TO SURVIVORS OF ABUSE (REPORTING) – The Archdiocese

of Cincinnati regards child abuse in all its forms as gravely sinful and criminal. Anyone who knows of or suspects child abuse by a legitimate member of the clergy or hierarchy, employee, or volunteer of the Archdiocese should first report the abuse to the appropriate secular legal authority and then to Ms. Teresa Maley, Coordinator of Ministry to Survivors of Abuse of the Archdiocese, at 513-263-6623 or 1-800-686-2724, ext. 6623.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR HEART OF MARY RESPITE AND COMPANION SERVICES – Tired of
