VET Quality Training Framework Monitoring Audit – Axiom College

Standards audited Essential Standards for Continuing Registration 15, 16, 17, 18, 20, 22.2, 23.

Axiom College participated in a VET Quality Framework monitoring audit conducted on 13 and 14 February 2013. The audit focused on the qualifications and units of competency selected by ASQA from organisation’s scope of registration as listed below.

The audit identified evidence of compliance with most requirements of the VET Quality Framework, however some areas of non-compliance were also identified. The following is a summary of the audit findings (including each area of non-compliance).

Training and Assessment Strategy (TAS) The TAS provided contained misleading information in client group/s statement regarding the requirements for BAS registration.

Course structure exceeds packaging rules by 1 elective unit. There is no information provided in the TAS to suggest flexibility in the selection of elective units to support the additional units listed.

qualifications listed, meets the requirements of the relevant training package and qualifications, including packaging rules and any entry requirements as described

The misleading statement has been removed. The course structure meets the packaging rules, so no change has been deemed necessary to the units. Clarification of the choice of electives has been added to the course structure.

The TAS has been updated to include the instructions that enable flexibility in the selection of elective units.

The assessment / marking guide for FNSACC403B Make a decision in a legal context has been provided.

TAS

All units available for selection are listed in the Packaging Rules section of the TAS, and the instructions are not explicit as to their selection. It is implied that the ‘list below’ is the full range of

electives to be used.

The TAS now includes only the units that Axiom College is offering, which includes all core units and 5 electives, of which any 4 electives may be chosen.

The TAS Course Structure section has been updated to include the instructions that enable flexibility in the selection of elective units.

organisation provided did not address all requirements of the unit of competency, in particular, the required knowledge, skills and required range statement; the assessment tools/tasks did not provide clear information to students and assessors about assessment requirements. In addition, some assessment tools/tasks did not have sufficient criteria defining acceptable performance, in particular the observation checklist.

TAS: Training and Assessment Strategy did not specifically detail the strategy for online delivery

The assessment tasks provided were the online version. Given the qualification is assessed holistically assessment, it was difficult to determine how each unit of competency requirements are met. Assessment tasks not pitched at the correct AQF level; no clear information about assessment requirements provided to students; criteria defining acceptable performance for some of the tasks were incomplete

Provide a Training and Assessment Strategy that details the online delivery, the training and assessment

arrangements and outlines the macro level requirements of the training and assessment process

A new Training and Assessment Strategy has been developed specifically for the Online program.

This mapping matrix summary includes an overview of the key critical evidence aspects of each unit.

Additionally, for these two specified units, a complete set of Activities relating to each unit is provided.
