ITTF Event VisionThe following report is filed as a steering document and Event Vision for all the involved parties in the 2008 event – The Swedish Table Tennis Association – The local organizing committee (BTK Rekord) – participating teams, their managers and the ITTF Junior commission.
The 2008 Cadet Challenge and Junior Circuit Finals will be organized in Helsingborg- Sweden hosted by the Swedish Table Tennis Association (SBTF) and the local elite club – BTK Rekord.
For all the key ITTF Global Junior Programme events it is the ambition of the ITTF Junior Commission to establish a strong EVENT VISION.
“It is the ambition of the ITTF Junior Commission to work in close sync with the Swedish Table Tennis Association and the local organizers in order to present the 2008 ITTF Cadet Challenge & Junior Circuit Finals as an high level, well crafted and properly structured international sporting event”
We are also committed to providing:
• Full exposure of junior and youth table tennis using all the available media channels.
• Establish a strong Event ID – promoting past success and future ambition of Swedish Table Tennis.
• Excellent organization
• A strong push to highlight the development aspects of the ITTF Cadet Challenge and to continue to develop young table tennis athletes from all continents.
• Maneuver funds and support towards the event by exploring all possibilities. • Continue the success of this event and give all the young players a
memorable and educational stay in Helsingborg, Sweden.
• Present a special edition of the Future Spin Magazine as the official program book.

BTK Rekord is one of Sweden’s most prominent Table Tennis club and currently the only club who operates both a male and female team in the Swedish Elite league. BTK Rekord is one of the most active organizers of table tennis events in Sweden With the help of the city of Helsingborg and the Swedish Table Tennis Association they are committed to providing a solid organization for the 2008 JCF & ICC.

ITTF Cadet Challenge Official Camp INFOThe training camp will be coordinated by the ITTF Junior Commission and attendance is mandatory for the invited teams. Hospitality is paid by the ITTF directly to the organizers.
Host City: Helsingborg
Arrival: No later than Friday 24 Oct / morning Camp closure: Monday 27 Oct - NOON
• Well equipped venue/ training environment: 30-32 tables avaliable • Hotel/Accommodation: Comfort Hotel
• Coaching: ITTF will appoint a Head /Guest coach to run/coordinate the training camp.
• Number of athletes expected (including The Swedish National team): 32 Cadet Boys and 32 Cadet Girls.
• Funding scheme: The ITTF is contributing a flat fee of US 16500 to each continental team to cover airfare, prep camps and basic participation. Fees applying to this camp (approx US 80 $ day/person) can be deducted from the final payment and the local organizers should prepare a complete invoice to the ITTF.
A “NEW” camp formula will be introduced and expert coaches used during the camp. It is suggested to run 2+2+2+1 scheduled sessions. Each of the morning sessions will be in the shape of a live clinic run by expert coaches whilst the second session will be in the hands of the involved coaches for individual team building sessions with the incentive to share playing experiences. This is done to ensure a more involvement by the coaching group.

Travel to Helsingborg – Sweden
It is strongly recommended to make travel arrangements to the Copenhagen Airport, which is the closest international airport. Travel via Stockholm / Arlanda connecting to ANG-HEL is also possible.
The ITTF will instruct all the Cadet Challenge teams on how to reach Helsingborg from Copenhagen – Airport. The local organizers will arrange for transfer with train or bus to reach the final destination. Helsingborg is approx 1 hour by car and train from CPH Airport.

We appreciate the efforts from all Cadet Teams to arrive as a unified team from traveling from one point of origin.The ITTF CM and the Swedish Table Tennis Association will share information and stay in close contact when it comes to arrival and departure. The local organizers will execute pick up and delivery using smoothest possible travel arrangements.

Venue
Idrottens Hus is the long serving indoor sport complex in Helsingborg and home to elite level teams in Basketball, Table Tennis, Floor Ball and Handball among others. Spectator capacity – seated approx; 2000

The venue is well equipped with sufficient meeting rooms (ITTF ) and restaurant areas that could be used for food serving should that be doomed the most efficient model for lunch.
Two halls – separated by a curtain and a stage formation will be used for the event; Hall A – Measurements 48 m x 24 m – (planning; 8 competition tables)

ITTF Recommendations;It’s quite clear that extensive work has to be done in both hall A and hall B in order to improve the visual impact and to reach ITTF standards.
1. Hanging Curtains in both ends of the hall A – upgrade – wash or replace. Important – if the color preference is not a big issue , to match some of the existing colors in the equipment set up – either blue or floor /red.
2. Blank solid surround – cover with some kind of color matched cloths. 3. Flower arrangements on the floor.
4. Welcome Banners.
5. Flags of participating countries.

Transport Hotel – Venue
The local organizers will use shuttle transport between the hotel and the playing venue. Special transport will also be available for ITTF staff and Executive.

EquipmentJoola (Tables), Butterfly (Official Ball) and Stag (Flooring) is the ITTF partners for this event. Contractual rights are in effect and include exclusivity inside the venue as Table Tennis Brands. Equipment for the 2008 ICC and IJCF will be delivered directly to the local organizers.
The overall equipment order will be coordinated by the ITTF CM and should include; • Sufficient high class balls for the complete event including the training camp.
• Two sets of centre court equipment (pyramid surrounds) including two special Event ID tables from Joola.
• Court set with Umpires tables – Surrounds and towel boxes • Six courts for competition / Hall A
• Ten practice tables with a set of surrounds for the training hall.
• Sufficient flooring to cover both hall A and hall B / delivered from Stag.

The ITTF will formally invite the participating continental teams and also allocate two wild card teams according to the official ITTF U 15 Ranking to be released 1 AUG 2008.

De fasta ITTF sponsorernas barriärer leveras färdigtryckta. Blanka pyramid barriärer tillhör BTK Rekord- SBTF och skall tryckas i matchande färger. Notera att det finns gott om reklam plats även i övriga match-hagar. Trycket där måste dock göras i form av avtagbar film eller att dukarna till normala hagar beställs blanka och trycks i Helsingborg. ITTF rekommederar generellt att en officiell tryckare engageras.
Umpires and Referees
Please note that all arrangements will be confirmed by the ITTF Director of Development and the ITTF Umpires and Referees Committee.
Basic approach;
Two international referees; (Hosted in singles room) • Sweden – nominations TBD
• Japan – host 2009 Umpires;
• Twelve foreign umpires / invited by the Swedish Table Tennis Association and hosted Monday 27 Oct evening until Monday 3 Nov in double occupation. (Pocket money according to international regulations to be paid)
• Six Swedish International Umpires
• Six Swedish National (potentially regional) umpires Noterat:
En internationell domarkår skall inbjudas enligt ovanstående. SBTF-BTK Rekord ansvarar för värdskapet av domarna. Fickpengar – US 20/dag skall betalas enligt internationell standard.

Opening Ceremony; City Hall – hosted by the city of HelsingborgVarious options were discussed. The most suitable option is to use the city hall for a welcome reception/ dinner on Monday 27 OCT 19; 30. The ceremony would include welcome speeches and exchange of gifts, entertainment, and presentation of the participating teams followed by a dinner.
A more detailed script will be communicated later.
ITTF will also host the local organizers / key persons and the Swedish Association for a thank you dinner later in the event.

Inblandade parter undersöker möjligheten till en officiell öppnings cermoni i Stadshuset – Måndag 27 OCT kl 1930. Ett mer detaljerat schema kommuniceras senare. Lagpresentation + middag och lätt underhållning samt key partners som talare skall ingå. ITTF kommer att vara officiellt representerade.
Frågan är som sig bör ställd till Helsingborgs Stad/Kommun att ta på sig värdskapet , vilket är cutym i sammanhanget.
ITTF Awards and Prize Money
The ITTF will arrange for all trophies to be avaliable in Helsingborg.
Cadet Boys and Cadet Girls singles winner will be awarded the Michael Bachtler trophy. The Local organizers will supply medals according a list presented by the ITTF Competition Manager
Prize money for the ITTF Junior Circuit Finals will be paid from the ITTF Ottawa Office directly to the involved associations , players after the conclusion of the event. Noterat;
Lokal arrangör / SBTF ansvarar för medaljer, lokala priser samt enkla blomster arrangemang samt tar ansvar för pris – cermonier med design och formula. Dessa arrangemang skall godkännas av ITTF Competition Manager.

ITTF Cadet Challenge - ParticipationParticipating and confirmed CONTINENTAL teams: Latin America, North America, Europe, Team Asia, Team Africa, Team Oceania
Participating and confirmed NATIONAL team: Team SWEDEN
ITTF U 15 Cadet Team ranking selection: The ITTF Junior Commission will following the release of the Aug 1 U 15 ranking list compose a special ITTF U 15 Team ranking list to invite two additional Cadet NATIONAL teams to join the competition. The teams shall not come from the same national association.
ITTF Junior Circuit Finals – Participation
The top eleven athletes on the ITTF Junior Circuit Point Standing will be invited to participate in the finals . Basic eligibility requirements inlcude proven particpation in at least two continents The host association are entitled to one wild card in each category.
Preparation of the ITTF Cadet Challenge Teams
The Official Training Camp is now mandatory following a decision made by the ITTF Junior Commission in 2006. We expect FULL attendance from all the involved teams. The cost of the training camp will be deducted from the ITTF to continental teams US 16500 contribution.
We would also like to stress the importance of a solid preparation phase for each team as additional benefit.
For continental teams traveling from abroad – there are several options in Sweden or in Europe that could be of interest.

Team uniforms / Presentation:Please make sure that all playing uniforms are printed clearly displaying the ITTF “With the FUTURE in Mind logo. No regulations for size – please make sure that the logo is printed in the front of playing shirt in the proper colors matching the uniform.
Please be advised that the ITTF Junior Commission would like to see creative and innovative solutions for the display of names on the playing shirts. Please push the suppliers to make the ITTF WCC a showcase event targeting young and upcoming stars dressed properly.
