The Core i5 Range of processors are mainstream processors, used in applications where

the highest performance i7 cores are not required. Still featuring impressive multi-gigahertz

core clock frequencies, the i5 range have smaller 4M—8M caches and, in the majority of

cases, offer a cost saving by dispensing with the Hyper-threading functionality which is built

into many of the higher performance cores. Despite this, Core i5 processor cores feature the

same automatic performance “Turbo boost” technology as their bigger brothers, allowing the

cores to increase their core frequency when additional performance is required. The range
