1. Refer to: Air Cleaner (303-12A Intake Air Distribution and Filtering - 2.0L Duratec-HE (125kW/170PS) - MI4, Removal and Installation).

Refer to: Battery Tray (414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables, Removal and Installation).

2. Unlock the electrical connector.

2. Push the electrical connector lock outward.

3. NOTICE: Take extra care not to damage the wiring harnesses.

NOTE: Make sure the component terminals are not bent or damaged.

Disconnect the electrical connector.

4. Remove the bolts.

5. Remove the clutch actuator motor.

3. NOTICE: Make sure the mating faces are clean and free of corrosion and foreign material.

Inspect the transmission housing surface for wear or damage.

Clutch Actuator Motor B

4. With the vehicle in N, position it on a hoist.

Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview (100-02 Jacking and Lifting, Description and Operation).

5. Remove the retainers and the shield reinforcement.

6. Remove the retainers and the underbody shield.

7. Unlock the electrical connector.

2. Push the electrical connector lock outward.

3. Disconnect the electrical connector.

4. Remove the bolts.

5. Remove the clutch actuator motor.

8. NOTICE: Make sure the mating faces are clean and free of corrosion and foreign material.

Inspect the transmission housing surface for wear or damage.

Installation

Clutch Actuator Motor A and B 1.

1. Clean the clutch actuator motor.

2. Apply High Temperature Nickel Anti-Seize Lubricant to both clutch actuator motor surfaces where indicated.

Material: Motorcraft® High Temperature Nickel Anti-Seize Lubricant / XL-2

2. Apply High Temperature Nickel Anti-Seize Lubricant to the transmission housing surfaces where indicated.

Material: Motorcraft® High Temperature Nickel Anti-Seize Lubricant / XL-2

3. Install the clutch actuator motors in the transmission case and make sure they rest against the case all the way.

4. Install the clutch actuator motor bolts.

Torque: 44 lb.in (5 Nm)

5. NOTICE: Take extra care not to damage the wiring harnesses.

NOTE: Make sure the component terminals are not bent or damaged.

1. Reconnect the clutch actuator motor electrical connector.

2. Push the electrical connector lock.

3. Push the electrical connector lock.

6. Position the underbody shield and install the retainers.

7. Position the shield reinforcement and install the retainers.
