T HE S HEPHERD S C ORNER

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE. We know the nearly past two decades for our nation have been shaped by the longest war that we ever faced and this on-going struggle with terrorism throughout the world.

While we constantly pray for peace, we know that the price of peace is most immediately paid for by those women and men who are willing to risk their lives and serve in the various branches of the military to keep us safe.

General Douglas MacArthur said, “The soldier above all others prays for peace, for it is the soldier who must suf- fer and bear the deepest wounds and scars of war.”

We pray for the safety of all those who defend and pro- tect us, and we pray for an end to violence and war. To- day, as we mark Veterans Day, we also add our words of thanks to those willing to make this great sacrifice for us, who serve our nation so tirelessly, and who are will- ing to make even the greatest sacrifice so that we may be free – especially those who are members of our par- ish, of our community, among our family and friends.

To all these wonderful veterans - thank you for your service.

CONGRATULATIONS MARIAN MEDAL WINNERS.

One of the greatest honors as a pastor is to be able to nominate parishioners to receive the Marian Medal each year. This wonderful award, given by Bishop da Cunha, acknowledges the deep commitment of so many to the lives of their parishes. The hardest part of this honor each year is that we can only pick one person. But I am pleased to announce the Marian Medal honorees from the parishes of our collaborative this year:

Ms. Norma Brandt – Good Shepherd Parish Mrs. Donna Carney – St. Mary’s Cathedral Mrs. Cecilia Wrobel – St. Stanislaus Parish

Each have lived lives of tremendous faith and dedication to the Church and we are so deeply grateful for all that they do for our communities. Please join us at St. Mary’s Cathedral on Sunday, December 1 at 3:00 p.m. as we honor them and all the recipients throughout the diocese!

Peace, love, and prayers,

Fr. Tom
