cottages

Cottages at Homewood are meticulously designed and maintained to provide residents with the most comfortable living accommodations. Our spacious cottages all have 2 bedrooms and 2 full baths, a fully equipped kitchen, a garage with extra storage space, and a year-round sunroom or sunporch. They also include full-sized washers and dryers, grab bars in all bathrooms, smoke detectors, an emergency call system, and extra wide doorways throughout.

At Homewood, there are a variety of options and upgrades available beyond just paint and flooring so that your cottage will be as unique as you are! Gas fireplaces, extended kitchen peninsulas, upgraded cabinetry and appliances are just a few of the many upgrades that can be requested. If we can do it, we will add any upgrade you can dream of. For example, do you love to garden? Our Maintenance staff will help you get started by building some raised beds in your yard. No two cottages are exactly the same which enables you to make your cottage more than just a house – make it your home.

Cottages are leased by the resident, with Homewood retaining ownership of the unit. Three rental options are available: Straight monthly rental, life lease, or a life lease hybrid. When life leasing your cottage, you are opting to pay the amount of the life lease up front, thereby eliminating monthly rental fees. One of the greatest benefits of life leasing is that you have prepaid your biggest living expense in today’s dollars and you can live in your cottage for as long as you are able. You only pay a monthly service fee. There is also a small monthly meal minimum requirement, cable, phone, and gas and electric expenses. Life leasing is transferable from a cottage to an independent living apartment.

When you rent a cottage, you have a monthly rental fee plus a monthly service fee, meal minimum, cable, phone, and gas and electric expenses.

The life lease hybrid is a combination of renting and life leasing, the details of which can be discussed with a marketing representative.

The monthly service fee includes maintenance of your cottage, grounds, real estate taxes, water, sewage, garbage removal, access to the amenities and programs at the Community Center and most planned events.
