Under the multi-award winning FutureFlow Alliance, Comdain Infrastructure was

responsible for the planning and installation of a 27 kilometre, 500-1200 millimetre HDPE water pipelines to Katandra. The pipelines have capacity to deliver up to 150 mega litres per day to approximately 60 customers previously serviced by irrigation channels.

Replacing channels with pipelines to reduce seepage, leakage and evaporation means there is more land available for farmers.

Community, landholder and key stakeholder coordination and communication delivered fast-track authority approvals and successful project outcomes.

Gisborne Recycled Water Treatment Plant: Stage 1B Upgrade Works

Client: Western Water

Comdain’s role: Primary contractor

Stage 1B of the upgrade works at Gisborne Recycling Water Treatment Plant comprised modifying the inlet works, upgrading the sludge lagoons and drying pans and converting one sludge lagoon to a stormwater overflow storage pond.

Comdain Infrastructure’s responsibility covered civil works, supply and installation of mechanical equipment, all electrical, instrumentation and control requirements, and testing and commissioning.

One of the biggest challenges in the

successful upgrade of the plant was ensuring the plant remained operational throughout the project and that there was minimal impact on the daily work of the plant operators. Careful forward planning and ongoing communication and collaboration with plant operators were the key to this.
