Your Destination,

includes sightseeing Turin will astonish you with daring styles that, from the late 17th century, transformed Turin into one of the capitals of Baroque art. You also can discover the history of Italy by visiting a city that became, from Roman camp and medieval town, the first capital of Italy, in 1861. Turin is the capital of the wines, both red and white, that perfectly match its traditional dishes. Discover the pleasure of coffee in all its forms - cappuccino, marocchino and above all the bicerin, a characteristic Turinese drink- while comfortably enveloped in the warm atmosphere of the city's historic cafés. And what to say about romanticism. Turin will delight you with its romantic corners and evocative angles, so special for passing unforgettable moments, together with the lights of the city night: the lights of the moon and the lights of the candles illuminating restaurant tables on the hill or along the river.

Food and Meals Turin cuisine: Turin invites you to taste the unexpected combination of natural products and ancient traditions, the

basis of an inimitable gastronomic culture. Some examples? The agnolotti, fresh pasta filled with meat or vegetables; the bollito, seven different slices of boiled meat to enjoy with spicy sauces. Treat yourself with a dessert, clearly made of chocolate, or miniature pastries for small or big sins of gluttony: a unique experience for your palate, your sense of smell and your sight! There are plenty of restaurants in which to indulge in these dishes all over the city, as well as any number of cheaper eating places serving the kind of food you can find anywhere in the country. For food on the run, there are snack bars and takeaways on Via Nizza, some tempting delicatessens on Via Lagrange and a superb rosticceria on Corso Vittorio Emanuele II for DIY lunches. For a drink, a snack, a pastry or an ice cream, you should also look in on one of the city's fin de siècle cafés, which are a Turin institution. The prices are a bit high, but the

atmosphere more than compensates.

Spring clothing for day Light weight coat for evenings

This fact sheet and Joining Instructions Passport, money, plane ticket.

What to wear for dancing: We recommend that you bring shoes with a leather sole for the dance classes. You may

also be wise to bring shoes with a rubber sole as the floors in the evenings might be somewhat “fast” and they will give you an alternative. Your shoes should be comfortable and supportive. Wear lightweight cotton socks to avoid sweaty and blistered feet! It is probable that you may get through quite a few clothes in the classes and dancing at night so bring a variety of outfits. Wear comfortable loose clothing for the classes. Some of the Festival events will be quite smart – do bring some smart outfits with you for the evenings.

At Your Destination Banks and Money: The easiest way to buy obtain euros is by using a credit card at one of the numerous cash points. You can buy small amounts, as often as you like, at any time, without queuing. You will need to know your P.I.N. Bank opening hours are normally 9.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m. Banks will change cash, travellers cheques and will sell you currency on your credit card providing the lines are open. You will always need to show your passport at a bank.

Tipping is not generally common in Italy as in Britain. There is no need to tip taxis but it is usual to leave a 5 - 10% tip

at a restaurant if you are particularly pleased with your dinner/lunch.

We feel our tour hosts work hard to give you an exceptional holiday and sometimes you may find that they add some special touches which are beyond the call of duty. If you agree with us, you might wish to show your appreciation by way of a tip. You can do this by putting money in an envelope on your own or by getting together with other guests. This evidently is entirely at your discretion.

Making friends with the locals and people not on the holiday: If you make friends with a local and would like

them to come along to the activities organised by us, then just ask your Tour Host and except for the dance classes and provided they pay their way there should not be a problem. We are here after all to interact with the locals. Generally, however, we discourage people who are not on the holiday from coming out with us or joining the activities and we ask for your discretion is this respect.
