Palmer Imaging Arena, owned by Black Bear Sports Group, Inc. is a multi-purpose sports facility located in Delmont, PA. Opened in 1997, the 125,000 square-foot facility includes three NHL-sized ice rinks, with one of the ice rinks converting in March through August to dry floor concrete /sport court. These ice rinks are complimented by two meeting/party rooms that support a variety of corporate and community functions as well as group outings/field trips. Palmer Imaging Arena’s mix of surfaces provides for a host of programs, program drop ins, leagues, themed events, expos, trade shows, shows and concerts. The facility is home to many user groups along with a variety of on-site businesses including Wallace Fitness Center, KoSports Hockey, and Vocelli Pizza – Delmont.

We offer multiple packages designed specifically for schools, park and rec groups, after school activities and day cares. We can custom tailor a package to suit your needs with options such as ice skating, ice hockey instruction, or whatever else you think of. If you can think it, we can do it!

Palmer Imaging Arena hosts numerous public skating

sessions each week, as well as multiple special skating events throughout the year. Budget-friendly and always fun, public ice skating is great for all ages and experience levels, and a perfect addition to a healthy lifestyle.

Check out the facility schedules page on our website to view our public skating calendar and get ready for an exhilarating experience that you won’t forget! Don’t worry if you don’t have skates, we have rentals for a small fee.

Palmer Imaging Arena offers multiple programs for people with a desire to master the skill of ice skating, learning to ice skate for fun, or to become a hockey player/figure skater. Our instructional staff are trained professionals with a passion for ice sports. Their infectious attitude will give beginners a needed comfort level to succeed, while keeping each class fun and rewarding.

KoSports Hockey will make available a hockey equipment starter kit with options to rent, lease to own and or buy for the first time participants. Your program manager will contact all registrants for a hockey equipment fitting with the professionals from KoSports Hockey before the first session. We also have a limited number of loaner kits available for use at no cost for first time participants.

LABATT THE NEXT SHIFT A LEARN TO PLAY HOCKEY PROGRAM FOR ADULTS

Labatt The Next Shift Program is for the adult who has never ever played

hockey before. It combines off ice instruction with on ice skills sessions (80%) and instructional game time (20%). The program is co-ed, non-checking, for people over 18 years of age, and is set in an insanely positive and judgment free atmosphere. No ice skating or hockey experience is required in order to participate. Over the course of the program, participants will learn the fundamental skills of ice hockey, make new friends and learn the greatest game on Earth. On the final week, participants graduate by playing in their first organized hockey game—The Next Shift Cup—and will receive a jersey upon completion. Friends and family are encouraged to attend as the new hockey players graduate into the world of hockey.

For participants that do not have hockey equipment, KoSports Hockey has a limited number of affordable hockey equipment starter kits with options to rent, lease to own and or buy for the first time participants. Your program manager will contact all registrants for an invite to a hockey equipment fitting with the professionals from KoSports Hockey before the first session.

ADULT HOCKEY LEAGUE

The Adult Hockey League offers players of numerous playing levels an opportunity to participate in organized play from A-C levels of play. Playing seasons run multiple times per year and consist of a ten game season + playoffs. The A-C levels are team Adult Hockey League will take a limited number of teams on a first come - first serve basis.

ADULT HOCKEY ROOKIE DRAFT LEAGUE

The Palmer Imaging Arena Adult Rookie Draft League is a league meant for true beginners over 18 years of age. It is the next step for adults who completed our Labatt Blue Next Shift program. It is a draft league so you will sign up individually and will be placed on teams. This league will consist of 10 games and will be played on Friday evenings.

OVER 35 SATURDAY NIGHT ADULT HOCKEY DRAFT

LEAGUE

The Saturday Night Over 35 League is an Adult League specifically for players 35 years of age and older. Individual registrations are accepted and teams are formulated by draft. This league plays Saturday Nights Only. Guaranteed ten game regular season with top teams playing for The Bottleknocker Cup Final.
