Installing AT&T GNC 6.8.0 for Broadband VPN Access
To start the installation, run the install program, netsetuppro.msi, from the CD or from the hard disk location containing the program.
Getting Started
1. Welcome window. Click ‘Next’ button to continue.
License Agreement
2. License Agreement window displays the standard license agreement for the AT&T Global Network Client. To continue with the installation, you must agree to the terms and conditions specified in the license agreement by clicking on the ‘I accept the license agreement’ radio button and then clicking the ‘Next’ button.
Fast Path Code
3. Fast Path Code. A fast path code is NOT REQUIRED for this installation. Click the ‘Next’ button to continue.
Select Installation Type
4. Select Installation Type window allows you to select the type of installation. Click on the ‘Typical’ radio button and then click the ‘Next’ button.
Ready to Install
5. You will now see the Ready to Install window. Click ‘Install’ to begin the installation, or ‘Back’ to make any changes.
Updating System
6. Updating System window is displayed while the files are installing. Please be patient as this may take a few moments.
Installation Finished
Once all the files have been installed and configured, you will see the Finished window. Click
‘Finish’ to complete the installation of the AT&T Global Network Client.
You may be prompted to Restart your computer at this point. Go ahead and restart if you are prompted to do so. If not, continue with setup.
Setting Up the AT&T Global Network Client
1. To start the application, click on the icon, AT&T Global Network Client, as shown. This shortcut by default will be created on the desktop after completing the installation program.
2. The welcome screen lists the requirements for establishing a network connection. Click the
‘Next’ button to continue the setup.
Account and Userid Window
3. Enter your account information into the text boxes shown. If you do not have this
information, please check with your administrator or review your IVANS Welcome letter. After entering your Account and User ID, click ‘Advanced Login Properties’ to continue.

4. On the Network screen choose My Company’s Intranet with service Standard SecureIP as shown.
The next several screens you do not have to change. Click ‘Next’ on the DNS, WINS, and Domain Suffix screens. Click ‘Finish’ on the Windows Logon screen.
This will return you to the User ID window shown in step 3. Click ‘Next’ to continue.
Automatic Connection
5. Choose ‘No, I will select the connection type.’ Click on ‘Next’ to continue.
Connection Type
6. On the Connection Type screen, choose the Broadband (LAN) option and An existing Internet
connection as shown below. Click ‘Next’ to continue.
Location Window
7. The location window, as shown, will display information about your current location. By default the country will be United States. No need to change that field unless you are outside of the United States. Users in Puerto Rico should leave the country as United States. Enter your 3-digit area code in the ‘Area code’ field and the 3-3-digit exchange (first 3 3-digits of the 7 3-digit phone number of your current location) in the ‘Exchange’ field.
For example, if your phone number was 813-555-1212 you would enter 813 in the Area Code field and 555 in the Exchange field.
Click ‘Next’ to continue.
Setup Complete
8. Setup is now complete. There is an option, as shown in, to start the AT&T Global Network Client automatically. By default this should be set to ‘No, do not start this program
automaticaly.’ Do not change this setting. Click on the ‘Finish’ button to complete the setup.
AT&T Global Network Client Connection Screen
To start the AT&T Global Network Client application click on the shortcut located on your desktop as shown..
Type in your password, and press the ‘Connect’ button to initiate the connection.
Once the AT&T Global Network Client is connected successfully you will see the following screen. To disconnect click on the lower left button with the square symbol (if you move the mouse pointer over the button you will see the message ‘Click to disconnect from the network.’
Firewall Note
The Firewall installed with the AT&T Global Network Client for VPN protects it from being accessed by other computers on the network. However, firewalls can prevent certain networking programs from functioning properly. It is recommended that you turn off the firewall while connected to your local network.
To disable the firewall, the AT&T Global Network Client must be completely closed. Click on the Windows Start button on your desktop and go to Programs. Go to the AT&T Global
Network Client folder and click on Firewall Settings. You will now see Figure 11: AT&T
Global Network Client – Firewall Settings. Click on the Turn Off button to disable the firewall. To re-enable the firewall you will need to click on the Turn On button.
Installing AT&T Passport IP
Select the “AT&T Passport link” on the CD, or open the passport install file that you downloaded from the Internet, whichever is applicable. Install software to your computer following the instructions listed below.
1. Select “OK”.
2. Select “OK” to accept standard default for installation directory (usually C:\PAS13)
3. Select “AT&T Passport TCP/IP and PASPRINT”.
4. Remove the selection check for “AT&T Passport Asynch” as this is not needed. 5. Select “OK”.
NOTE: If you receive a box asking you to install “PURE 32 Encryption”, Select “YES”.
6. Select “OK” to select the program group “AT&T Passport for Windows 95”. (Note: This is a
label for the work group and this default is acceptable.)
Installation complete.
Passport IP Setup Instructions
Select “Start” (windows start button), go to “Programs”, go to “AT&T Passport for Windows”, then go to “Passport IP”.
Connection Setup
1. The “Connection Setup screen” is the first screen to appear in Passport IP.
Note: If this is your first time launching Passport, the application automatically starts at the
connection configuration.
2. Select the following fields on the Connection Setup Screen. a. Select your primary server from the drop down. b. Select your backup server from the drop down.
Note: Do not select New York, San Francisco or Schaumburg as servers.)
c. Check the “automatic reconnect’ option.
d. Check the “connect when loaded” option if you want passport to connect automatically when launched
e. Check the “load distribution” option. f. Check the “Logs Connection” option.
g. Once the fields above are selected, click “OK”.
NOTE: If “connecting to server” appears, select the “ESC” escape key to terminate the
connection attempt.
Session Setup
1. The “Passport – A” screen appears. Click “Setup”, followed by “Session Setup”.
2. The “Session Setup – A” screen appears. Complete the following information: a. Type a “Title”. (A title for the session may be entered, but is not required.) b. Type your Account, User id and Password.
c. Select the following options: “Log When Activated, Full screen Update, Numeric Field Support, Original 3270 Attribute Rules”.
d. Once you have completed the required information, select “OK”.
e. You are then required to type the password again (exactly as previously typed). f. Select “OK”.
Printer Setup
1. The “Passport- A” screen appears. 2. Click “Setup” followed by “Printer Setup”.
3. The Printer screen appears.
4. Please complete the following information.
a. Select “Use Windows Print” as your desired printer output type.
b. Note: If “Use Windows Print” is selected, you may click “Setup” and “Font” to customize your Windows Print features.
c. Click “Advanced setup”.
5. The “Advanced Printer Setup” screen appears.
6. Select the following options: a. Use “Form feeds”.
b. Enable PASPRINT Function c. SNA LU1/LU3.
d. Click OK.
7. Click “OK” to complete setup procedures.
8. The “Passport – A” screen appears again. Click “Setup” followed by “Save Setup”. This will save the setting for future use.
9. Passport is now ready for use.
Passport Auto-Start Instructions
This feature is used to auto launch Passport IP upon connection.
1. Start the “AT&T Global Network Client”.
2. From the Net Client dropdown menu, select “Show Login Properties”. This menu can be
accessed by either clicking on the down arrow at the upper right corner of the window, or by clicking the AT&T globe icon in the upper left corner.
3. Select the “Auto start” tab.
4. Check “Override Defaults”, “After Connecting” and click the “Add” button to the right.
5. A configuration window will appear. Select “Browse” at the bottom.
6. The “Look in” field should list “Programs”. Select the program group for “AT&T Passport for Windows 95” and select “Open”.
7. The “Look in” field will now show “AT&T Passport for Windows 95”. Select “Passport IP”
and click “Open”.
8. The Configuration window will show the Passport session you have chosen. Place a “Check” in
“Advanced Options” at the bottom.
9. Select “Initial Size” to “Maximized”.
10. Select “When reconnecting” to “Always restart”.
11. Select “Connection options” to “Disconnect if this program ends”. 12. Select “OK”.
13. The “Auto-start” Tab will now show “PASYI” set to launch after connection. 14. Select “OK”.
15. Click “OK” again to exit the Log-on properties page and your auto start setup is now complete.
