The staff member in charge of each activity must present nominations in writing with a brief motivation.
The committee will review the policy annually in the second term of each year.
Aims of the committee
The task of the committee is to ensure that criteria for awards remain constant from year to year and to ensure consistent application of such criteria.
Standards should always remain of high. The number of awards must be directly proportional to the team’s overall performance in that year.
If a new activity is to be considered for awards, a complete memorandum on the activity, selection criteria and aims of the activity must be submitted to the committee.
It must be clearly understood by learners and teachers that the awarding of any award is not merely a reward for an activity well performed, but rather recognition of overall excellence of achievement, behaviour and loyalty towards the school. The committee has the right to remove an award of learners who do not continue with the activity without sufficient reason, or those whose behaviour is not a credit to the school
