This Quick Installation Guide covers the basic installation of the PRO 5000 CPE. For more information, refer to the relevant sections in the Product Manual.
Overview
The PRO 5000 CPE is a WiMAX subscriber station designed to provide Internet access for a home or small office. The PRO CPE includes an outdoor unit (ODU) connected to an indoor unit (IDU). The ODU provides the WiMAX Internet link, and the IDU serves as the gateway for a local Ethernet wired and wireless LAN.
The indoor unit includes one standard RJ-45 Ethernet switch port for LAN connections, and one 8 PIN RJ-45 Ethernet port for connection to the ODU. This cable provides a dedicated Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) power supply to the ODU, as well as a data link between the antenna located in the ODU, and the IDU. The IDU should be connected to an AC power connection.
The PRO CPE provides a web-based management interface for the configuration of all features. Packages Content

ONLY experienced installation professionals who are familiar with radio equipment for outdoor/indoor, local radio regulations, relevant local building and safety codes and, wherever applicable, are licensed by the appropriate government regulatory authorities should install outdoor units and antennas. Ensure that outdoor units, antennas and supporting structures are properly installed to eliminate any physical hazard to either people or property. Failure to do so may void the product warranty and may expose the end user or Service Provider to legal and financial liabilities. Even where grounding is not mandatory according to applicable regulation and national codes, it is mandatory to ensure that the outdoor unit and the antenna mast are grounded and suitable lightning protection devices are used so as to provide protection against voltage surges and static charges. In any event, the Supplier and its resellers are not liable for any injury, damage or
regulation violations associated with or caused by installation, grounding or lightning protection
NOTE
The MAC Address indicated on the box and in the web interface is the LAN MAC address. For provisioning, you need the WAN MAC address, which is the LAN MAC +1.

Installing the CPE
Before installing the CPE, verify that you have all the items listed in the package checklist. If any of the items are missing or damaged, contact your WiMAX service provider.
Select a Location
The ODU should be pole-mounted outdoors and aligned so its antenna faces the nearest WiMAX base station. When selecting a suitable location for the unit, consider these guidelines:
• The ODU should be placed as high as possible to achieve the best possible link quality.
• Place the ODU away from power and telephone lines.
• Avoid placing the ODU too close to any metallic reflective surfaces.
• Be sure to ground the ODU with an appropriate grounding wire (not included) by attaching it to the grounding screw on the unit and to a good ground connection.
The IDU can only be mounted indoors. It should be mounted on any horizontal surface, such as a desktop or shelf. Be sure to select a suitable location for the device within 100 m (328 ft) of the ODU. Consider these guidelines:
• Select a cool, dry place, which is out of direct sunlight.
• The device should have adequate space (approximately two inches) on all sides for proper air flow.
• The device must be near an AC power outlet that provides 100 to 240 V, 50 to 60 Hz with proper grounding.
• The device should be accessible for network cabling and allow the status LED indicators to be clearly visible.
• The overall length of the Ethernet cables from the ODU to the IDU and from the IDU to the PC must not exceed 100m.
You must plan a cable route from the ODU to the IDU indoors. Consider these guidelines:
• Determine a building entry point for the cable.
• Determine if conduits, bracing, or other structures are required for safety or protection of the cable.
• For additional lightning protection, it is recommended to use a lightning arrestor immediately before the Ethernet cable enters the building.

1 Power on the IDU by connecting the AC power adapter and plugging it into a power source. Check the status indicators for correct operation.
2 Connect the ODU PoE port to the ODU using the supplied IDU-ODU outdoor-rated Ethernet cable. Make sure the length does not exceed 100 meters (328 ft).
3 Connect PCs to the IDU’s LAN ports using Ethernet cables. Alternatively, you can connect the LAN ports to an Ethernet switch or other devices.
Use Category 5 or better cables and make sure the length does not exceed 100 meters (328 ft).
4 For units with external antenna - Connect the CPE to an external antenna using a coaxial RF cable: Connect one end to the RF connector (marked ) at the top panel of the unit and the other end to the antenna. Ensure proper sealing of connectors.
5 Set the PC's IP settings to 192.168.254.250, then follow the instructions below to access the web interface and start the Setup Wizard.
6 From a connected PC, use a web browser to access the IDU’s web interface. The web interface allows you to configure WiMAX settings.
7 Open your web browser and type the IP address 192.168.254.251 8 Type the default password “installer” and then click the LOGIN button.
9 Configure the basic parameters required for connectivity with the BTS. The following table includes the basic parameters and their default values.

Basic Parameters
SAU (Subscriber Unit Alignment Unit)
The SAU (Subscriber Unit Alignment Unit) is a miniature plug-in device that can be used with the PRO CPE Outdoor Unit during installation and maintenance to support an easy antenna alignment process and provide status indications. For more details refer to the CPE Manual.
