“Teaching is a calling, not a job.

My instructors helped me wrestle

with this call, and gave me

the tools to fulfill it, preparing

me for influencing students

in a variety of contexts and a

constantly evolving school system.

I was encouraged not only in

my teaching career but in my

relationship with Christ. Biola’s

School of Education is more than

a selection of programs; it is a

training ground to fulfill God’s

call to teach.”

EDUCATION.BIOLA.EDU/CREDENTIALS

Whether you are still preparing to enter the teaching field, or already have vast experience in the classroom, Biola’s School of Education enables you to earn your credential alongside peers who have a heart for excellence, compassion and care of students. Our Teacher Preparation Program is authorized by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing to provide the Preliminary Multiple Subject Credential, Preliminary Single Subject Credential, Education Preliminary Specialist Credential (Mild / Moderate) and Clear Credential.

CHILD DEVELOPMENT PERMITS – 6-18 UNITS

EDUCATION.BIOLA.EDU/PERMITS

Our Early Childhood Education Program offers state-approved coursework required for five of California’s Child Development Permits: Assistant Permit, Associate Teacher Permit, Teacher Permit, Master Teacher Permit and Site Supervisor Permit. Teaching children at the infant, toddler and early elementary-age levels ensures a rewarding career, as early childhood educators shape the pathways on which these students will progress for the remainder of their academic career. During this foundational time in children’s lives, teachers need the know-how to help them succeed through balancing play, learning and socialization.

CERTIFICATES – 12 UNITS

EDUCATION.BIOLA.EDU/CERTIFICATES

For some educators, another degree program is not the right course of action. That’s why we have created institution-sponsored certificate programs in Curriculum & Instruction and Special Education to show your expertise through an intentional path of coursework.

“Professors and staff went above

and beyond to ensure I met

all the requiremnts for my

credentials. More importantly,

they made sure I was equipped to

teach, model and share the love of

Christ in deed and truth with all

my student and colleagues.”

JOANNA FULLER

(B.A. ’10, MUTIPLE AND SINGLE SUBJECT CREDENTIALS ’10)

“Clear and wise thinking about

educational policy is increasingly

important as it gains salience in

the public square. Without such

thinking, Christians will be unfit

to be the life-giving influence

that they are called to be. Biola

has given me the mindset,

opportunities and equipping to do

just that — to think clearly and

wisely — and to love the truth

that sets individuals and societies

free.”
