Offering customers a

better shopping experience

Automatic Scanning checkout by Wincor Nixdorf is the next generation

of checkout automation developed to delight shoppers and provide a

completely new shopping experience.

More time for staff = better service for customers

The entire checkout process is simplified and attending staff can quickly help customers with interventions or any special assistance to either load shopping onto the belt or pack, without interrupting the scanning process. Automatic Scanning is perfect for customers that need to manage large baskets of shopping, especially at peak times, as the staff who are relieved of scanning the items can make the checking out process as easy as possible for their customer.

Automatic scanning is so easy

A simple concept that has a whole wealth of benefits: customers place their shopping directly onto the check-out belt and as the items pass under the 360° scanner, the system automatically scans and registers the items, up to 60 per minute. Once all items have been scanned and are in the bagging area, the customer can make their payment either using integrated payment modules or use a separated payment system. As the first customer makes their payment, the next customer is able to commence scanning their goods, completely reducing checkout time for all customers.

Transform checkout staff

into customer experts

Automatic Scanning systems take care of scanning shopping items so that

staff can spend more time taking care of customers.

Automatic scanning reduces the number of times items need to be physically handled with many benefits:

▪Time spent manually scanning items is completely eliminated and given back to the consumer for a faster more efficient checkout

▪Automatic Scanning delivers the highest levels of accuracy, scanning items at speeds up to 60 items per minute

▪Automatic Scanning reduces checkout operator’s risk of suffering repetitive strain injuries due to the repeated movements of entering information on a keypad or moving product over a scanner ▪Automatic Scanning frees employees from the

majority of manual handling; operators need only to deal with a small number of interventions, such as oversized items, unreadable barcodes, or age restricted items

New options for secure payment

Making a payment on the Automatic Scanning systems can be handled in many ways: integrated with tradi-tional payment modules, such as a cash drawer and card payment terminal, payments can be handled by a cashier. For additional security and accuracy, Automa-tic Scanning systems can also be integrated with newer payment technologies such as cash management and cashless payment modules. Wincor Nixdorf offers a broad range of self-service payment solutions that can either be integrated into the system or work in union with the systems, separating the scanning and pay-ment process for additional efficiencies. Self-service payment systems improve transparency and lower risk of robberies and tampering. Combined with automated cash handling solutions for the cash office auditing processes are more compliance and the end to end process is secured and optimized.

Enabling better service

Automating standard tasks such as item scanning and the payment processes enables in-store associates to take the time needed to provide customers with an elevated standard of service. Customers value the extra service provided by associates and in return maintain their loyalty.

More choice, more efficient checkouts

Self-service checkout solutions are already employed by many retailers to reduce queue sizes and serve customers with smaller baskets quicker. Automatic Scanning adds an extra dimension to these checkout areas by providing a highly efficient automated solution for customers with large shopping baskets. Self-service checkout solutions allow customers with smaller baskets to choose how they would prefer to shop and Automatic Scanning offers that choice to all customers.

Looking after what’s important

Shopping items are handled many times during a shopping trip, with the majority of handling happening during checkout.
