LEVEL: Step 2 (Teachers Aides & Teaching Assistants) The Roman Catholic Archbishop of Perth Non-Teaching Staff Enterprise Bargaining Agreement 2012 – Category C 40 week (during term time) work

HOURS: 37.5 hours per week with flexibility to accommodate after hours work as required

ORGANISATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

Position reports to: Curriculum Team Leader Technology & Enterprise Supervision of: N/A

Internal Liaison: All departmental staff and students.

External Liaison: Community groups, College suppliers, general public, parents or guardians.

• To efficiently support the technical and administrative needs of the Home Economics area of the College.

KEY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES Organisation and Preparation

• Preparation of foods for practical cooking lessons. Individual portions of foods are to be measured and put in Food Technology Room.

• To be available in the Home Economics Department when all lessons are taking place. • Laundry from kitchens to be washed in machine.

• Assist with sewing machines, overlockers, supply and preparation of material for staff. • Ordering of textiles stock.

• Prepare Textiles patterns as required by teaching staff.

• Balancing and organisation of petty cash and receipts/invoices via the Accounts Department. • Assist with classes as required.

• Assist where required at designated College functions. Food Ordering and Stock Control

• Ensure Food units have adequate supply of liquid detergent and cleaning supplies. • Liaise with administration staff for supplies, order forms and other requirements. • Undertake shopping each week and source special items when required.

• Collate food orders throughout the week and collate food shop through the electronic database provided.

(To ensure a clean and healthy environment) • Tidy up at the conclusion of practical lessons.

• Wipe units, sinks, stovetops and ovens as required in Food Technology Rooms. • Maintain hand washing area by refilling soap and paper towels.

• Check units in Food Technology to ensure equipment is maintained at a high standard by students. • Clean sewing machines and overlockers as required

• Wipe and clean work benches in the Textiles Technology room. • Display boards arranged in discussion with teachers.

• Other duties as directed by the Curriculum Team Leader Technology & Enterprise.

EXTENT OF AUTHORITY

Authority to act within established practices and to make decisions within clearly established guidelines.

• Familiar with both overlockers and sewing machines.

• Ability to utilise and manage an automated management system.

• Demonstrated competent level of computing and administrative skills including word processing and spread sheets.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information.

• Ability to maintain both paper-based and electronic records and filing systems.

• Ability to deal with ambiguity, pressure and change and readily adapt to new environments and subject matters

• Demonstrated commitment to contributing to a positive and constructive team environment. • Demonstrated high level of organisational ability and initiative including capacity to set priorities

and work to deadlines.

• Ability to work effectively in a busy environment.

Essential

Suitable qualifications and experience in the field of Home Economics Desirable

Current WA “C” class drivers licence. Personal Attributes
