“This is what the Lord asks of you: to act justly,

to love tenderly and to walk humbly with your God." Micah 6:8

God, It Is Good to Give

Thanks to You

Psalm 92 reminds us of the foundation for all prayer – offering thanksgiving to God. Only with the eyes of gratitude can we see God’s presence in our lives, 24/7. In Israel, the palm tree can live two hundred years and grows like the cedar of Lebanon, which lives even longer. This is the length of life promised to those in right relationship with God. Praying today’s psalm encourages us, if we are “planted in the house of God,” to grow and flourish.

It is good to give thanks to God, to make music to your name, O Most High, to proclaim your

loving mercy in the morning, and your truth in the watches of the night. The just will flourish like

the palm tree and grow like a Lebanon cedar. Planted in the house of the Most High,

they will flourish in the courts of our God.

Still bearing fruit when they are old, still full of sap, still green, to proclaim that God is upright. In God, my rock, there is no wrong. [Verses, The Revised Grail Psalms,

Rededication Mass on July 25

We are going to celebrate all that is new, including our ability to gather together as a Community in Christ after COVID-19. We also want to rededicate the Church and give thanks to God for our ability to renew our Parish with the beautiful renovations to our Worship space.

Thank God for all of the blessings bestowed on us. Please save the date.

We have great things to celebrate. Good Shepherd Parish is inviting all parishioners to join in celebrating a rededication Mass

on July 25, at 11:30am, (this replaces the 9:30am Mass).

National Catholic

Youth Conference

On Thursday, November 18 through Sunday, November 21, Good Shepherd will be sending eight teens, along with Corinna, Bryan and some teens from St., James to the National Catholic

Youth Conference. Current 8th -11th graders, please consider this amazing experience

in a distinctly Catholic setting surrounded by other Catholic

teens. Encounter Christ, experience church and be empowered for discipleship. Covid safe practices will be in place. Contact Corinna Ramsey in

the CF office to get more information and fill out a registration form on the Good Shepherd parish website or app.

Current COVID Mass Protocols

• Those who are vaccinated can choose mask optional and no so-cial distancing needed. (We have opened up a third section)

• Both West and South doors will be open for entrance and exit. • We ask that all wear masks when

not seated (upon entry, while go-ing to Communion, while walkgo-ing around, upon exiting, etc.) • The Southwest side of the

church, (section in front of the Blessed Sacrament Chapel) and Narthex will be "mask required" sections.

• The North side, Southeast side of the church and part of Daniels Hall will be "mask optional" sec-tions.

• Those who wish to sit on the Southwest side “mask required” section will be seated by an usher.

• Songbooks and music issues will be used.

• Once on the altar, the presider may remove his mask, except while at the altar for consecration. • Readers and the cantor may

remove their mask while at the ambo.

• Gift bearers and Eucharistic ministers will wear masks during distribution.

• Communion to the homebound will be offered.

• Sanitizing will continue.

We have new Mass protocols to assure our parishioners feel safe and

comfortable. We ask you to remain flexible as additional new directives emerge. As you have done for 14 months, we ask that you continue to respect our approach to ensure we continue to offer a safe and welcoming worship site welcoming all the people entrusted to our care.

An invitation to grow in faith and understanding, and deepen your prayer life! One way to do this is through a small, faith-sharing

community. Such a community meets regularly on Mondays, at 11:00 a.m. in the Mary of Magdala Chapel. For more information, call S. Joann at

262-345-3904 or e-mail her at

julkaj@mygoodshepherd.org.

Camp Food Drive

They feed thousands of people each year. Due to COVID, we cannot serve in our normal way so we asked them how we can help. They asked us to have a food and grocery bag drive, so we will be collecting non-perishable food and plastic grocery bags from now until June 20th. Please bring your donations to Mass and put in the baskets at the entrances. Thank you for helping our youth help others! This summer our youth are participating in our Matthew 25 Work Camp serving others. One place that we normally serve is the St. Hyacinth Food Pantry.

Parish Card Ministry

Thanks to the talent of several of our parishioners, we are able to keep parish family in touch with us and reach out with a little bit of God’s blessings through a monthly card ministry. Our faithful and talented card designers gift us with

beautiful handmade cards for those who are not able to come to Church regularly. If you or someone you know is not able to join us in our community celebrations please let us know. Call the Parish Office at 262-255-2035 and let us know if we can help brighten someone’s day.

Generations of Faith (GOF) Registration is Starting Now.

If you are a parish member, you should have received your registration in the mail. If you are not a parish member, you can pick up a registration on the bulletin boards in back of church or find them on our website. GOF is a Christian Formation program for the entire parish, so whether you have children or not, you are

welcome and encouraged to join GOF. If you are a family who has a child in 2nd, 10th or 11th grades, attendance is required as part of your Sacrament Preparation. If you have any questions, please contact Corinna, Mike or Becky in the Christian Formation office.

Join the stewardship commission for "Welcome Back" &

Father’s Day fellowship after Masses next weekend. Grab your to-go root beer and cookies, or stay around for a little while and visit. We will meet under the south canopy by the peace garden.

Welcome Back and Father’s Day Fellowship

Arise Milwaukee partners with numerous parishes throughout the Archdiocese of Milwaukee to bring a dynamic, engaging, & Christ-centered encounter to the parish. Our hope is to provide parishioners with an opportunity to meet Christ in a powerful way through the sacraments and intimate prayer.

"We have a moral responsibility to speak out to create a world where the next generation will be spared, where the dignity of all people is respected and where human rights of all people are protected. We cannot ever lose sight of the reality that we are our sisters’ and brothers’ keepers." A quote from Sister Dianna Ortiz, OSU.

golferwarren2@att.net or 262-573-3948.

Good Shepherd will be holding an election for the Parish Trustee Secretary position. The Trustee Secretary position will expire in June of 2023.

This position is highly important to the operation of the parish. You can review the Parish Trustee Secretary Position by going to this link on our website http:// www.mygoodshepherd.org/parishlife_administrativeservices_pastoralcouncil.html Please consider this position seriously, if you feel called to serve the parish. Or, if you know someone that you believe would make a great trustee, please talk to that individual and encourage her/him to consider it.

We need more adults to chaperone our middle and high schoolers with our Matthew 25 Local Work Camp this summer during the week of June 21-25. If you can help on any of those days or all 5 days it would be appreciated. You don't need to be handy; you just need to have a love for helping others and spending time with teens. To register, check out our Good Shepherd website, parish app or contact Corinna with questions. ramseyc@mygoodshepherd.org

Service Minded Adults Needed

This summer we are going to be working on our Parish library to organize it a little differently and to dust it off and spruce it up. We are looking for someone who would be interested in helping over the summer for some days here or there to do some inventory, to review and update a database, to see what audiovisuals we may be able to convert to DVD or mp3 files, and more.

If you might be interested in this, please contact Marguerite at 262-345-3898 or thompsonm@mygoodshepherd.org

Vacation Bible School is Back This Week

Our new normal is still evolving. As we continue to emerge from the pandemic, we keep

seeing signs of our return to a somewhat normal routine. This week you will see another as

we again hold our annual Vacation Bible School (VBS) after a one-year hiatus due to

Covid 19. VBS (or Son-days back in the day) has been a fixture of the Good Shepherd

Summer routine for a long time. At this time last year, we were still hoping that we could

hold VBS in August, but as we know now that was a pipe dream. A lot has happened since

then that enables us to move forward with this fun event here at Good Shepherd. We are

grateful for all that has been done to make this possible. We are especially grateful for the

adults and teens who have stepped up to help make the event come together this year.

During the week, the kids will be learning about the ways that the power of Jesus helps us

to navigate the challenges of our life on earth. Through the stories of Ananias, Paul, Peter

& John, the first Christian Community at Jerusalem, and Jesus’ sacrifice for us, they will

explore how God is present in and works through things that we might find difficult at the

time but lead to great rewards if we are open to God’s love. We will be discovering these

important lessons through fun and engaging activities. We will sing, dance, and play our

way through each morning.

We are looking forward to a safe and fun week with our K4 through 5

th

Grade students. So,

if you see a bunch of young people playing around the parish during the morning or hear a

joyful sound, let it be the sign of new life. Praise to God for the human gifts and talents that

have given us a vaccine, given us the guidance to be safe, and the leadership to navigate

the challenges, particularly of our Archbishop, during these past difficult months. As we

continue to come out of the restrictions of our pandemic life the warmth of Summer

reminds us that God is good, all the time!
