RBS Accountancy Ltd provide Chartered Certified Accountancy services to over 300 clients in East Anglia. Several attempts to manage an inter-nal IT system via different providers had resulted in unreliable slow net-working. A 5 site Physiotherapy Practice client of RBS, recommended TEqLOGIC Logic Portal following their positive use of the outsourced Hosted PC Desktop.

TEqLOGIC provided a demonstration of “Logic Portal” - the hosted PC Desktop from one of RBS’ own PC’s—Logic Portal was faster than RBS’s network using RBS’s own PC’s to connect to the service!

TEqLOGIC were immediately engaged to migrate RBS’s IT system to Log-ic Portal. The line of business applLog-ications RBS required migrating were enterprise level and mission critical to RBS and their clients. TEqLOGIC’s background in advanced computer systems enabled a ro-bust, full and accurate migration.

Solution

TEqLOGIC Logic Portal was deployed in mid January 2010, at a busy time for self assessment deadlines. Logic Portal is a fully managed Hosted Computer Network into which RBS plug existing computers. On connection computers are accelerated to behave like an expensive high end computer displaying a unified standard Hosted PC Desktop.

RBS no longer have to run and support an internal IT system as all serv-ers are hosted securely at our state of the art Datacentre. Backups are taken care of as is all security patching. Microsoft Office software up-grades are included free of charge. RBS now have a Remote Access / Business Continuity solution, that enables RBS to fully focus on client requirements whilst enjoying the ability to work flexibly on all of their line of business applications. There were no upfront costs with the pay as you go model, with IT now an OPEX cost in place of CAPEX.

About / Problem

Created in October 2007 from the private client practice of Glenisters. HPW will continue the long tradition of serving clients in Hammersmith and the environs. Our history dates back to 1906 when we were founded in Hammersmith by Louis Oliver Glenister. The Lyric theatre is the site of the first office, and we continue that association with the Lyric to-day.

As a new startup from a previous law firm, the Partners and staff of Hubbard Pegman & Whitney LLP were used to networked IT. The re-quirements were specific including Microsoft Office with Exchange for shared email, calendars etc, TFB accounts and Practice Management systems, PDF writing inclusive of merging different document types. Further requirements was for Laserforms and BigHand digital dictation.

Solution

TEqLOGIC Logic Portal managed services was deployed with support pro-vided by Vector Projects Associates (VPA). Logic Portal delivered the brief entirely using thin client computing. No IT staff are required on site and there has been no requirement for outlay on expensive servers or high end PC’s; the modern desktop depicted in the picture on the right is being accessed from PC’s that have just 256 mbs of RAM and which are over 6 years old. Lawyers have been able to concentrate on clients, working either from the office or from home inclusive of digital dictation.

Updates to Accounts, Digital dictation, etc have not incurred any addi-tional charges from TEqLOGIC or VPA, who have either handled the process or worked with the provider, negating the requirement for HPW to get involved with technical aspects. The hosted system has been up-graded to the latest version inclusive of the latest Microsoft Office FOC.

Media Icon provide media sales and marketing services. Media Icon have the capacity to man-age an entire product life cycle. This includes revenue earning potential, test marketing and launch .

Media Icon’s in-house IT solution was performing slowly and had become unreliable. The Directors decided to compare the merits of replacing the in -house systems with a hosted version. Media Icon were already using MediaPro, an application cloud hosted by TEqLOGIC and Vector Projects Associates, so were aware of the benefits of IT outsourcing.

Media Icon selected TEqLOGIC Logic Portal—a hosted PC Desktop with full support provided by Vector Projects expert analysts. This had the dual benefit of enabling Media Icon to combine MediaPro exports with Microsoft Office, a previous issue. Email and documents were imported as well as Blackberry mobile email being implemented.

A couple of months after implementing Logic Portal, Media Icon up-graded to Total Office. This introduced a top end Cisco phone system, that could be plugged in anywhere, complimenting the anywhere access hosted PC Desktop.

Digitex provides access to a wealth of software tools and services that address the needs of both media buyers and sellers creating a hub of information and data that is accessible to both sides of the trading di-vide, clients include heavyweights such as Channel 4.

Digitex’s requirements were at the top end of complexity. They re-quired for themselves a full technology fit out consisting of a full PC desktop, mobile email and a telephone system; in addition hosting of their specialised media trading system for their own clients to access. Amongst other technical issues the previous hosting solution had print-ing problems, causprint-ing servers to reboot and customer inconvenience. TEqLOGIC and Vector Projects Associates (VPA) committed to providing Digitex a first class solution, that was feature rich and well supported.

Solution

TEqLOGIC Total Office was implemented in summer 2009 for Digitex’s internal use. This provided Digitex with a complete hosted computer network for their staff with mobile email and telephone system. Total Office is a high end solution that delivers blue chip performance levels. Email, document sharing, Accounts, project management, backup, re-mote access, business continuity, mobile email and support is included. The second part of the service was to host, manage and maintain Digitex’s state of the art Media application—MediaPro. This consisted of installing a File / FTP / Oracle server, 2 SQL Database servers with 42 databases in use, complimented by 6 MediaPro PC applications such as CRM, for Digitex customers to use on a daily basis.

TEqLOGIC and VPA have delivered a crash resistant integrated system for Digitex and their customers.

ICPS The Body Challenge Ltd provide clinic and community Physiother-apy services to thousands of customers in Essex. It is important for budgets to be spent on clinical equipment for patients as a priority. The IT brief was to provide a fast reliable computer network without unnecessary hardware equipment on site. Specifically the leading medi-cal practice management system and exercise delivery program had to be accessible in real-time for every treatment, from multiple locations including home. Microsoft Office documents needed to be shareable between staff members. Business continuity and patient confidentiality were also vital requirements. The Telephone system similarly had to be easy to use with high end features and scalability.

Solution

TEqLOGIC Total Office was implemented in spring 2007 and has proved virtually 100% reliable. The Hosted PC Desktop exceeds the brief as ad-vanced email archiving is included as well as secure web browsing. Broadband links at each office enable the Hosted PC Desktop and Tele-phone system to operate like a regular network. Staff rely on the dia-rised practice management system every day to prepare for treatments, and whilst the patient is onsite to book follow ups in real-time; some 10,000 treatments to date.

The Hosted Telephone system provides voicemail to email, music on hold, night service and free calls between locations with the simplicity of just plugging into the network connection. The Hosted Telephone System and Hosted PC Desktop provide an advanced technical solution based on a simple cost per user per month basis.
