JOB DESCRIPTION

PROJECT MANAGER, COURSE DEVELOPMENT

IMMEDIATE START REQUIRED

Salary $60 000 per annum plus super for a full time role (as this is a part time role the salary will be pro-rata of this rate)

Conditions Between 20 and 30 hours per week (negotiable) Contract Period Until 30th June 2012 and then to be reviewed Works With Business Development Manager (Training) Line Manager Executive Director

Location Wollongong (1 day office based, other hours negotiable)

The organisation is a not for profit association with over 1,300 members. We deliver a highly subscribed and valued training program including the IAP2 Certificate in Public Participation and other courses across Australia and New Zealand. Our members are committed to involving the community in decisions that affect their lives and work in state and local government agencies, consulting companies and the private sector.

The Role

This exciting opportunity will suit exceptional project managers with direct experience in managing the development of new vocational education and training courses and/or learning content

targeting adult learners. Exposure to instructional design in an online environment will also be highly regarded. This is a great opportunity to join a dynamic team in a rapidly growing organisation. The position works closely with the Team Leader, Business Development Manager (Training) with negotiable hours (20-30 per week, one day based in our Wollongong office). Salary pro-rata $60k.

Excellent Communication Skills including oral, written and interpersonal skills is essential. A desire for continuous improvement will be required in all aspects of the role. Must have relevant tertiary qualifications in project management, education or instructional design and Cert IV in Workplace Training and Assessment.

Detailed Role Description

Key Responsibilities

The Project Manager, Course Development will:

 Oversee the end-to-end development of a portfolio of new courses;  Contribute to the Course Design Plan for the new course;

 Develop and implement a Course Development Project Plan, including detailed budget, for each new course;

 Manage each Course Development Project Plan within the approved Budget;  Source quality content and assessments for the new courses;

 Manage authors, subject-matter experts and content suppliers;  Manage external proof-readers and editors;

 Manage input and reviews from internal stakeholders;

 Be accountable for delivering high quality learning materials; and  Manage quality assurance sign-off and course set-up processes

Key Performance Indicators:

 Delivery of new courses on time and in budget

 Delivery of new courses that meet the standards outlined in the Course Design Plan  Delivery of new courses that meet the needs of key stakeholders

Key Relationships:

This position works closely with:

 Business Development Manager (Training) – in the development of the Course Design Plan  Course Development Review Panel – in refining the instructional design of new courses

Key Attributes & Experience:

 Experience (3 years) in project management in the education and training sector or

 Experience (3 years)in managing the development of Vocational education and training courses  Experience in instructional design in vocational education and training (desirable)

 Demonstrated ability to liaise at a high level with internal and external stakeholders

Educational Qualifications:

 Relevant tertiary qualifications in project management, education or instructional design  Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment

Occupational Health, Safety and Welfare

Contribute to IAP2’s occupational, health and safety responsibility by:

 Communicating and updating OHS&W responsibilities, policies and procedures

 Ensuring the Executive Director as the “responsible officer” under the legislation, is promptly informed of any serious or reportable OHS&W matters

 Ensuring, as far as practicable, a hazard free work environment and a proactive approach to injury management;

 Assisting with any OHS&W audit, data collection or investigation  Ensuring office resources are maintained in safe working condition;  Identifying and addressing building, equipment, safety and security issues,  Participating on any required formal OH&S meetings.

 Staff must take reasonable care to protect staff own health and safety at work.

Quality Systems

Work in compliance with IAP2 Policies and procedures and proactively contribute to their continuous improvement.

Other Duties Coincidental to the Position

Duties for this position should not be considered definitive. Duties may be added, deleted or modified in consultation with the incumbent as necessary. Job descriptions and staff performances will be reviewed regularly.

SELECTION CRITERIA

1. Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment

2. A relevant degree in education or related field with extensive experience or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.

3. Demonstrated experience in developing learning resources

4. Project management experience to ensure the design and development meets requirements of budget, time, resources and administration in delivering final outcomes

5. Demonstrated knowledge of principles, theories and contemporary practices of instructional design

6. Strong understanding of the principles of assessment and how they are applied when developing assessment tools

7. Knowledge and experience in learning theory and instructional design 8. Experience in the not-for-profit sector( desirable)

9. Self-motivated reliable and willing to work flexible hours.

10. Strong time management and effective organisational skills, lateral thinker, works well under pressure and achieves work deadlines in an environment of competing priorities.

11. Strong interpersonal communication and negotiation skills. 12. Excellent writing skills

13. Demonstrated high level computer literacy skills, advanced Microsoft Office skills and various computer applications

14. Skills, knowledge and/or experience in public participation or community engagement (highly desirable)
