z
z Cloud computing is gaining popularity owing to the advantages it offers in terms of low capex and opex requirements, scalability and elasticity. The market for cloud-based services in India is estimated to be valued at about $900 million.
z
z This market is likely to witness a CAGR of about 55 per cent during 2011-15. The launch of 3G and 4G services will provide a fillip to this space. This presents a major opportunity for IT and telecom technology providers, most of which are already offering a wide portfolio of cloud-based services.
z
z Telecom operators with an established network and a subscriber base are also emerging as key players in the cloud value chain with cloud com-puting services becoming an important part of their business portfolio. They can benefit as the users of this technology by streamlining several business operations through clouds to achieve flexibility, faster time-to-market and cost savings.
z
z Several operational and deployment models (SaaS, PaaS, IaaS, etc.) for cloud computing have emerged and these can help enterprises reduce infrastructure costs, provide a higher customer value, and position themselves for the future. The suitability and cost of these models vary for different user segments and must be assessed carefully.
z
z Currently, the public cloud segment comprises only 20 per cent of the market, while the remaining is accounted for by private cloud networks. However, this share is likely to increase with various government departments showing interest in cloud-based services. For instance, the Department of Information Technology has invited proposals from private players to set up a national cloud-based network connecting all state data centres at a cost of about Rs 1 billion.
z
z While the opportunity is significant, the lack of data security and privacy could pose challenges for the growth of the cloud computing market. Other challenges issues relate to compliance with corporate or regulatory guidelines and integration of cloud computing solutions with the customer's existing IT landscapes. These issues must be addressed while implementing a cloud computing strategy.
z
z The mission of this conference is to highlight key opportunities in the cloud computing space in India; discuss the potential benefits and pitfalls of cloud-bbased services; and examine the existing and emerging business models. The conference will also provide a platform to both service providers and users for sharing experience. T

The conference is being organised by tele.net magazine, which is published by India Infrastructure Publishing, a company dedicated to providing information on infrastructure sectors through magazines, newsletters, reports and conferences. The company also publishes Indian Infrastructure magazine, Telecom News (a weekly newsletter) and the Telecom Directory and Yearbook. The group has also launched www.tele.net.in, India's most comprehensive telecom website.
z The Indian enterprise mobility market is growing rapidly as businesses are increasingly looking at mobility services for functions and applications
like ERP, CRM, supply chain management, sales force automation, fleet and workforce management, unified communication and billing.
z The proliferation of low-cost smartphones and tablets, extensive 2G network coverage across the country, high speed internet connectivity
enabled by 3G network expansion and the recent launch of 4G services are the key supply-side drivers for enterprise mobility services.
z On the demand side, the growing need for 24x7 connectivity with the enterprise, and improving customer relations and operational efficiency are
the main drivers for these services.
z This has created a key opportunity for telecom service providers, system integrators and device manufacturers. Both telecom service providers
and OEMs have come up with innovative packages and offerings at low prices.
z However, a number of enterprises are still hesitant to opt for mobility solutions owing to data security and overall security concerns and high
perceived costs. The lack of customised applications, and complex devices, application and software management are also deterring organisations from implementing enterprise mobility.
z The mission of this conference is to highlight the enterprise mobility potential in India, to focus on key application areas, to discuss the key
challenges, and to showcase the most promising solutions.
