Family and Youth Advocacy Clinic (1cr-2cr)

Tuesday (11:00am-1:55pm)

Goldson R. A109

During the first four weeks of the semester, new students will meet for three hours as a class for orientation on Tuesdays. Once they have completed the orientation, students will spend three (3) hours per credit hour per week in the clinic doing a combination of clinical work, research, community outreach and case round meetings (one hour group meetings that will take place at a set time every week after orientation). Second semester students are no required to attend the orientation classes and may begin their clinic hours immediately. Clinic hours for all students will be scheduled based upon a combination of clinic needs and student availability. If you have questions about this course, you may contact Professor Jennifer Goldson a jgoldson@law.capital.edu. Cancelled 941-1 Mediation Clinic (3 cr) Wednesday (5:30pm-6:00pm) Wheeler R. 572

The professor will contact students prior to the first week of class to schedule two class meetings. The professor will attempt to schedule the two classes at a time convenient to all parties. The first class meeting, which will be held at the law school, will involve a review of the course syllabus along with othe course forms and a skills review using mock mediations. This first meeting is usually 3-4 hours in length. The second class meeting will be held at the Franklin County Municipal Court so students can meet the staff of the small claims court and the prosecutor’s office as well as the magistrates of the smal claims court. Most of the remainder of “class time” will be spent at the municipal court conducting and/or observing mediations. Students may also have opportunities to observe mediations at other locations such as the Ohio Civil Rights Commission and the Franklin County Domestic Relations Cour Mediation Program. If you have questions about this course, you may contact

Professor Terry Wheeler at twheeler@law.capital.edu
