3. Professional career
During this academic year I was told by the faculty to take part of the Carlos III team by joining the department of economics & business. The university hired me in January 2003 for the position of “Associate Researcher” (a non tenure-track faculty job) in the lowest level of the professional scale of the department for a limited and extendable period of 6 months.
My job at Carlos III University mainly consisted in:
• the development of my own research papers on Economics & Business,
• the participation in the research institutes of the university and their projects. [See the following page]
(Research Centre for International Economics, Research Centre for Economics and Health, The Observatory of the Public Administrations, Research Centre for Experimental Economics, Research Centre for Financial Economics.)
• co-operation with the Carlos III University's junior firms (Congresa, IUP, Madrid Joven Telecom, ACM Consultants, and many others...)
• teaching and research assistance to the Carlos III University’s professors.
• Furthermore, I am currently engaged with some non-academic tasks as administrative ones.
From January to June I presented many papers and new projects that had an excellent reception among the department, the public administration, the private societies, foundations and also in some scientific publications. Some of them were rewarded and are being refocused nowadays in order to maximise their contents. I am also preparing the e-learning project “Ceteris Paribus”.
This background was reinforced with an intense propagation of my research in the medias working with them as an opinion articles writer in some students’ newspapers (Gaceta Universitaria, EUREKA, El Nuevo Lunes), internet portals (Universia.es) and publishing my articles in some scientific publications (Actualidad Económica, Expansión, Nueva Economía).
Finally, I also promoted the foundation project of the most important junior-company of the Carlos III University that was called La Estación de la Comunicación.
Very soon my job is going to be evaluated by
• the Agencia Nacional de Evaluación de la Calidad y Acreditación (the Nacional Agency dependant of the Spanish Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports the ensures the quality of the high educational system in Spain)
•
• the Agencia de Calidad, Acreditación y Prospectiva de las Universidades de Madrid (a regional agency dependant of the Board of Education of Madrid that follows the same goal than the ANECA but in the autonomous community of Madrid)
• the Comité Evaluador del Personal Laboral al Servicio del Departamento de Economía y Empresa de la Universidad Carlos III
