OOSH December-January

Vacation Care Program

Please note: OOSH will be closed for 3 weeks from

(2)

Dear Parents,

We are sending you all an update from OOSH as there will be some changes to Vacation Care in

December/January.

Firstly, we will be open for Vacation Care Thursday 10

th

December to Friday 18

th

December 2015. Then

we will reopen Monday 11

th

January to Monday 25

th

January 2016.

Please note: OOSH is closed for three weeks over Christmas, from Monday 21

st

December 2015 to

Friday 8

th

January 2016.

Secondly, we are now allowing pre-schoolers to come in the January only Vacation Care time. They will

be integrated into the OOSH program, however, they cannot go on excursions. This is due to age and

safety laws with transportation, which our service must abide by. On these days, pre-schoolers will

remain at the college premises and will be well-cared for by OOSH staff.

Thirdly, some of these excursion days will also be optional excursions for other children. We have

decided to do this for children to have greater choice in activities and for financial reasons, if

excursions are too expensive for families. Those children not attending excursions will have an

alternative program run for them by OOSH staff on the college premises. There will be no

discriminating between the two groups. While the activities may differ, staff will care for each child

equally.

Finally, during the following Vacation Care in April 2016, there will be three separate programs:

1) Pre-schoolers (ages 4-7)

2) OOSH (ages 8-9)

3) Youth OOSH (ages 10-16)

This will allow us to better cater for the different age groups. For January, it will just be OOSH

(including pre-schoolers), and Youth OOSH. We appreciate your patience and support as we move

forward with these changes, and seek to best care for your children.

The Vacation Care Packages for OOSH and Youth OOSH will be available by the end of Week 7, where

they can be accessed on the college website, at the college office or at the OOSH ‘Cottage’.

If you have any further questions, please email, call or send us a message.

Welcome back to Vacation Care! Start the New Year with some plaster fun. We will be making & painting plaster molds.

How good are your scavenging skills? We will follow clues around the college to find & take photos of some hidden treasures.

Join in the stealth game of Laser Tag. Remember to bring your drink bottle & wear covered shoes. Don’t get tagged! (Excluding pre-schoolers. Note: this is an optional excursion.)

Aloha! Grab your Hawaiian shirt & grass skirt, because today is Hawaii Day! We’ll enjoy the sights, tastes & sounds of all things tropical.

We are going to the Botanic Gardens to have some park play, look at the animals in the zoo & enjoy a picnic lunch. (Excluding pre-schoolers. Note: this is an optional excursion.)

We are slipping, sliding & splashing about the place with our water fun day. Wear old clothes, & bring a towel & spare change of clothes. You will get wet!

Enjoy the ribbons & acrobatics of Zana Aerial Dance Academy. We will have instructors lead us through skills & activities. Wear sports clothes with no zips or jewellery. Bring a drink bottle. (Excluding pre-schoolers.)

Superheros to the rescue! Come ready for some action-packed games where you can show super strength, super intelligence & super skills!

Red, yellow, blue, green, today is colour fun day. Wear old clothes – the whiter the better. You want the colours to show!

“Australians all let us rejoice!” To celebrate Australia Day, we are creating some unique Australian crafts.

To finish up vacation care, we are enjoying a nice relaxing time at the movies. We will advise movies closer to the day. OOSH will see a G-rated film. (Excluding pre-schoolers. Note: this is an optional excursion.)
