About this Guide
This installation guide explains how to use the Loop surface mount installation kit (ZPLOOP-SM) to install the antenna cabling for an AMS-3003, AMS-3010, or AMS-3030 antenna on a floor. This installation guide alone is not enough to install the antennas. You must use this guide in
conjunction with one of the following loop system installation guides:
• Installation Guide, AMS-3003 Loop, 8200-0179-08
• Installation Guide, AMS-3003 Loop with AMS-9033 and AMS-9040 Controllers 8200-0179-25
• Installation Guide, AMS-3010 System, 8200-0179-09
Note: Because customer requirements dictate the placement of system components, your
Sensormatic representative will supply this information separately.
European Regulatory Restriction: In a European Union (EU) country the transmit loop cable must be either housed in conduit or replaced with metal-clad cable.
European Regulatory Restriction: In an EU country the AMS-3003 antenna can only be used with an AMS-9033 controller.
European Regulatory Restriction: The AMS-3010 cannot be installed in an EU country.
Regulatory Restriction: An AMS-3030 or AMS-3031 connected to an AMS-9040 controller cannot be installed in a
European Union (EU) country.
All cables referenced in this installation guide to be buried in concrete have been investigated and found acceptable as suitable for direct burial in concrete. Do not remove any labels on the antenna cabling until it has been connected to the capacitor box.
Intended Use: Only install this device as described in this guide.

About the Kit
In a normal floor antenna installation, antenna cables are placed in channels cut into the floor. Sometimes this is not possible due to restrictions, and the cables must be secured directly to the surface of the floor so the floor can be built up around them or “floated”.
The loop surface mount installation kit consists of mounting hardware to secure the transmitter/ transceiver and receiver antenna cables to the surface of the floor for float-on-floor installations. You can use this kit to install the cabling for the following antennas:
• AMS-3003 • AMS-3010 • AMS-3030
The AMS-3003 and AMS-3010 systems are security systems similar to an AMS-3000 Loop system except they use two floor receivers instead of Ranger antennas to cover wider exits. A floor receiver consists of a pair of cables and a receiver box. The two cables are 9-conductor, shielded, burial-rated cables connected to form a coil. The system comes with two of these coils, each marked by blue or yellow tape.
Figure 1. AMS-3010 Loop
An AMS-3030 antenna is a floor transceiver antenna, similar to Floor-Max®. A single antenna system consists of an AMS-9040 controller, two transceiver cables, an intelligent capacitor board, cables that connect the capacitor board to the controller, and a digital remote alarm.

Anchors
After planning for the antennas according to the appropriate Loop Installation Guide, measure the door and mark for the Rx antenna drill holes in a grid pattern as shown in Figure 3.
1. Measure for the width of the Rx antennas by measuring the width of the doorway and subtracting 30cm (12in); this will give you 15cm (6in) on each side of the doorway. Take that measurement, divide by 4, and mark along the width of the door; this will separate the grid into four equal parts.
2. Measure 76cm (30in) in from the doorway to mark the other side of the grid, and divide that into four equal parts as well.
This will give you the outer dimensions of the grid.
3. Measure from one corner to the far diagonal corner and repeat from the opposite side to ensure your grid is square.
4. Measure and mark 5cm (2in) in from the nine grid corners indicated in Figure 3, and drill all 18 holes for the Rx antennas. Use a 6.4mm (.25in) bit and drill 2.5cm (1in) deep.
5. Install the tie wrap anchors in the drill holes. Cable clamp base

Installing the Transmitter/
Transceiver Loop Cable
The transmitter/transceiver antenna loop cable can be anchored to the floor using the same hardware and technique described in the following section on installing the receiver loop cables. The
transmitter/transceiver loop antenna can go on top of the receiver coils or below them, although putting the Rx coils on top of the loop will help ensure the loop remains flat.
1. Plan for the antenna placement according to the appropriate Loop Installation Guide. 2. Drill holes for tie wrap anchors. Use a 6.4mm
(.25in) bit and drill 2.5cm (1in) deep.
3. Place anchors in holes.
4. Tie wrap Tx loop cable to the anchors.

Installing the Receiver Cables
The receiver cables should be installed in a
“figure-8” shape as shown in Figure 4 and Figure 5. Figure 4 shows the cable routing when the receiver boxes are on opposite sides of the doorway; Figure 5 shows the cable routing when they are on the same side.
Observe the following rules when installing the cables.
• Secure the cables in the order shown or the receiver will not operate properly.
• To prevent a dead zone in the center, the left and right coils should meet in the center; do not leave a gap between them. A small gap between any of the cables is OK but do not exceed 5cm (2in). Separating the cables reduces the effectiveness of the receiver, so always try to keep them as close together as possible.
• Ensure the sizes of all the coils are equal. • Keep the entire assembly as flat as possible. To install the Rx loop cables:
1. Tie wrap one end of one of the Rx coil to the top of the start anchor leaving enough excess to reach the receiver box. Tighten the tie wrap as much as possible to prevent slippage and ensure the tie wrap head is turned to the side of the anchor and is not on top. All the anchors should be done in this manner to reduce the height of the anchor assembly.
CAUTION: When cutting the tape in the following step, be sure to cut only the tape and not damage the cables. 2. Keep the coil taut and flat as you pull and tie
wrap it to the next anchor according to Figure 4. It will be necessary to cut the tape binding the cables of each coil together as you go in order to keep the cables side by side; be sure to cut only the tape and not damage the cables. Depending on how large the doorway is, the coil may become more tightly wound and twisted as you continue, requiring more sections of tape to be cut further down the coil. If you have room, uncoil the entire cable assembly and cut all the tape from the start.
3. Continue anchoring the coil to the floor in the order shown in Figure 4 and Figure 5 (B1, B2, B3, etc.), keeping the cables organized and flat.
4. Repeat for the other coil, noting the different direction the coil travels from the start anchor. 5. Use the flat cable routing clamps to organize the
cables as shown in Figure 4 and Figure 5. The clamps should be attached to the floor using the hammer drill and Tapcon screws, Wiremold® anchors for P-Enhanced system, or any other appropriate masonry anchor. The hole in the clamp is 4.18mm (3/16in) wide, so the clamp will need to be drilled out to fit the anchor. Additional anchors and clamps may be used to ensure the antenna assembly is as flat as possible.
The finished installation should have the cables running tightly next to each other with only two crossovers, thus minimizing the height of the antenna assembly. See Figure 4 and Figure 5. The depth of the concrete needed to cover the hardware depends on whether the cable is Kynar® or metal-clad.
• If the cable is Kynar, the height of the hardware is 1.6cm (5/8in) tall, so 1.6cm (5/8in) to 1.9cm (3/4in) available space is sufficient. At 1.6cm (5/8in) all the cables should be covered but small portions of the plastic hardware might be at the surface, so 1.9cm (3/4in) gives you some margin for error.
• If using the metal clad Tx cable it would have to be 1.9cm (3/4in) to 2.5cm (1in). The cables take up a little bit less than 1.9cm (3/4in) when perfectly flat, so 2.2cm (7/8in) to 2.5cm (1in) is recommended.
The need for conduit is influenced by the geographic location of the site:
• EU site – Transmit loop cable must be either housed in conduit or replaced with metal-clad cable.
• Non-EU site – Although the standard transmit cable is burial-rated, you must receive
approval from your local code inspector to use it without conduit. Therefore, transmit loop cable must be approved by the local code inspector for burial in concrete without conduit, housed in conduit, or replaced with metal-clad cable.

Cables
The antenna (Tx) cables (0348-01 and 0652-0348-02) used in the AMS-3030 floor antenna uses cable part number 6002-0208-01, which has been investigated and found suitable for direct burial in mortar and concrete.
An inspector may request the listing file number for the cable. Sensormatic P/N Listing File Numbers* Vendor E118871 Tappan 6002-0208-01 E310330 or E108998 or E108842 Belden
* The listing file number varies with the cable vendor and is printed on the cable.
Installing the Anchors
After planning for the antennas according to the AMS-3030 and AMS-3031 Floor Antenna
Installation Guide, measure the door and install the tie wrap anchors.
1. Mark the locations of the drill holes. See Figure 6.
2. Drill eight holes for each AMS-3030 antenna. Use a 6.4mm (.25in) bit and drill 2.5cm (1in) deep.
3. Install the tie wrap anchors in the drill holes.
4. Route the cables for the AMS-3030 antenna, securing the corners with tie wraps looped through the tie wrap anchors. Tighten the tie wrap as much as possible to prevent slippage and ensure the tie wrap head is turned to the side of the anchor and is not on top. All the anchors should be done in this manner to reduce the height of the anchor assembly.
Installing the Cable Clamps
To install the cable clamps:
1. Use the flat cable routing clamps to organize the cables as shown in Figure 7. The clamps should be attached to the floor using the hammer drill and Tapcon screws, Wiremold anchors for P-Enhanced system, or any other appropriate masonry anchor. The hole in the clamp is 4.18mm (3/16in) wide, so the clamp will need to be drilled out to fit the anchor. 2. Use additional anchors and clamps to ensure
the antenna assembly is as flat as possible. The finished installation should have the cables running tightly next to each other with only two crossovers, thus minimizing the height of the antenna assembly.
Covering the Cables
When the cables exit the concrete and are routed to the cap box, they must be routed in conduit. The conduit that is used is usually 1.9cm (3/4in) EMT conduit. The conduit is not provided with system; you must obtain enough conduit to route the cables from the floor to the cap box (see Figure 8).
The depth of the concrete that must be poured to cover the cables is dependent on the surface mount hardware. The height of the hardware is 1.6cm (5/8in) tall, so 1.6cm (5/8in) to 1.9cm (3/4in) available space is sufficient. At 1.6cm (5/8in) all the cables should be covered but small portions of the plastic hardware might be at the surface, so 1.9cm (3/4in) gives you some margin for error. See the figure below.
