Frequently Asked Questions
Is there any internship or serving element to part-time study?
No, there is no requirement for part-time students to complete an internship placement during the week or as part of the Sunday services. This is to help those from other churches who may already be heavily involved in ministry in their own church. However, if students would like to serve in a particular area of Life Church to gain more practical experience they are welcome to do so.
Is there any commitment outside of the Thursday mornings?
Apart from personal study, no there is no required commitment outside of 9.30am – 1.00pm every Thursday during term time. To get the most from the course we recommend you allow yourself at least 2 hours per week of
personal study time to read and work on your assignments.
Is there a reading list for part-time students?
Yes, there is a required reading list and a wider reading list. You will find these in the ‘Assignments and Reading Lists’ document.
What sorts of people apply for the part-time course?
Some students on our part-time courses are full-time ministers who work at other churches, but many are just people with a keen interest in practically serving in their local church. We have previously had students who have travelled from as far a field as Wolverhampton, Manchester and Bolton.
Is the Leadership Academy course accredited?
No, we are not accredited. If we did accredit with a formal education body we would have to significantly increase our tuition fees.
