The Howard Volunteer Fire
Department has for sale by sealed bid the following two fire trucks. Truck number one is a 1976 Ford 900 series pumper with a 1000 gallon tank and a 1000 GPM pump. There is no title for this truck but
there is a certificate of origin. The second truck is a 1979 International Cargostar Tanker with 2300 gallon tank and a 300 GPM pump. This truck does have a title. Both vehicles can be seen across from the fire station in Howard. Anyone with questions or wishing to see the trucks can call 769-4936 or 542-6500 for more information. All bids need to be received by 10/29/10. Bids will be opened on 11/2/10 at 7pm at the fire station. The department holds the rights to reject all bids. cement, he eats pellets and his favorite
color is orange. He lives in room 211.
Mrs. Smith’s fourth grade class has
been very busy in the science lab. We
have dissected a young onion
discovered that the cell walls are
rectangular in shape compared to
animals cells that are round. We have
looked at pond water to see if there is
any life moving around in it. We also
have made goo following all safety
procedures in a science lab. We
thought that was awesome!!! We can
not wait for our next experiment.

89, of Ravine Street, passed
away Monday (Oct. 4, 2010) at
the Bath VA Medical Center.
Born in Potter County, Pa., Nov.
10, 1920, the son of Lynn and
Myrtle Saxton Nisbet, he had
resided in Hornell most of his
life. John worked as a machinist
for the former Foster Wheeler
Corp. in Dansville and enjoyed
hunting, farming and most of
all, his family. John served his
country in the United States
Army during WWII.
He was predeceased by his
par-ents as well as one step-son,
Louis Lewis; three brothers,
Lynn, Ray and Phil Nisbet; two
sisters, Helen Bowers and Leona
Zimmerman.
He is survived by his wife, Carol,
whom he married in 1992; two
sons, John Nisbet of Hornell and
Sam (Shirley) Nisbet of Canisteo;
two step-sons, Curtis (Carol)
Lewis of Almond and Robert E.
(Renee) DeCeu of Canisteo; four
daughters,
