When you have been invited to register you will see an in-tray message in your student portal similar to that shown below. In order to complete on-line course registration, you should click on the ‘Register’ tab shown in the left hand corner of the screen.

Introduction

You will need to complete each task presented. As you successfully complete each task you will see a green indicator ; tasks that are incomplete will be highlighted by a red indicator . All mandatory fields are marked with an asterisk (*).

Online registration does not have to be completed in one sitting. You can complete a task or multiple tasks, exit and return later to proceed. The completed tasks will be saved as you proceed through the process.

You can re-enter a task with a green indicator to amend details (where permitted).

You will notice an ‘Ask TCD’ button on almost all screens. This enables you to submit a query in respect of the screen that you are working on to the Academic Registry, who will respond to you as quickly as possible.

This page shows a list of tasks that must be completed in order to be a registered student of the College. Personal Details, Contact Details, Other Personal Details, Emergency Contact Details, Course, Socio-Economic Survey (where applicable) may be completed in any order. It is mandatory to complete Course details before moving to Financials. However, Financials, Trinity Foundation, Terms and Conditions of Registration task can be completed only if preceding tasks are done.

Once you click on the ‘Personal Details’ task the below screen will display the information submitted by you at the application stage. If the information is correct please select ‘Continue’. Should there be inaccurate/incorrect information please contact Academic Registry through the ‘Ask TCD’ button. Once the information has been confirmed, the Personal Details task will show the green indicator and complete status beside it.

Contact Details Task

After clicking on the ‘Contact Details’ task you will be presented with the below screen. You should verify the correctness of your permanent home address and create or verify your term address. By clicking the ‘Edit’ button you will be able to make amendments to the information. By clicking the ‘Create’ button you will be able to provide the mandatory information. It is possible to copy the home address to the term address by clicking on the ‘copy home address to term address tab’. All fields marked with an asterix* are mandatory. Once you have verified or amended your address you should click on ‘Confirm’ to continue with the registration process.

If you select either ‘Edit’ or ‘Create’, you will be presented with the screen below. For each address provided, you are required to specify the ‘Residence Type’ from a drop down list which is a statutory reporting item for the College. On completion of the information, select ‘Continue’ to proceed.

After clicking on the ‘Other Personal Details’ task the screen below will be displayed. All fields with an asterix* are mandatory. Please note any information entered is strictly confidential including information on disabilities. If you wish to receive assistance from the College’s Disability Service, please select from the disability drop down list on the nature of your disability. Once you have entered all information you should click on ‘Continue’.

After you have clicked on the ‘Emergency Contact’ details, the screen below will be displayed. You must provide Primary Emergency Contact details and are given the option to create a secondary emergency contact. If you have previously supplied a Primary Emergency Contact, you will have the option to amend the details presented. To create or amend the information click on ‘Edit’. On completion of verification, click on ‘Confirm’.

Upon clicking the ‘Create’ and ‘Edit’ buttons, the screen below will be displayed. You should enter all information required. Mandatory fields are marked with an asterix*. When you have completed the relevant fields please click ‘Continue’.

Once you have clicked on the ‘Course’ task your details will be displayed. Note: The Course task must be completed in order to access the

Financials task which follows.

Students, who have selected ‘No’ and submitted a query, will see the screen below. The ‘Wait for Registry’ status will be removed by the Academic Registry once the course issue has been resolved.

Page 23 of 52 Financials Task

Students who have completed payment under the ‘My Finance’ tab may not see all of the screens listed below. All students, including those who have made payment through the ‘My Finance’ tab, must proceed through all screens presented in this process to continue to the final stages of the online registration process.

Please note that in some cases you cannot return to a previous screen to amend information. Please ensure all information is entered correctly on each page before clicking ‘Continue’.

This task displays billing and sponsorship information. At this point you should declare any sponsorship you are receiving such as SUSI / local authority grants. If you are applying for a SUSI grant will need to submit your SUSI application number during this process.

Online Payments are accepted immediately and registration may proceed to the next task. Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT) payments can take a minimum of 5 working days to clear, your registration process will be held until your EFT payment has been cleared. If you are making EFT payments you will receive notification when payment has been received by the College and you should proceed with registration immediately by selecting ‘Next’.

Undergraduate new entrants only are expected to declare their eligibility for the Government’s Free Fees Scheme (FRS). Continuing students will be directed to the sponsorship and grants page directly. Before you were invited to register this information could have been completed under the pre-registration section of the “My Finance” tab. If you did not complete it prior to your invitation to register, you will have an opportunity to do so now during the on-line registration ‘Financials’ task. Please select ‘Next’ to continue.

You will be asked to declare your FRS eligibility based on criteria defined by the Higher Education Authority (HEA). Please read the conditions carefully before selecting ‘I do’ qualify or ‘I do not’. Once the declaration is selected, press ‘Next’ to proceed. If you are in any doubt please use the “Ask TCD” button to register a query with the Academic Registry.

If you select ‘I do not’ you will be presented with the screen below. If you select ‘Continue’ you can continue through the process and will be liable for the payment of full tuition fees.

If you have made an error you will be able to return to the previous screen to correct the error by selecting ‘Back’. Please note that once you

After declaring your FRS eligibility, you will then be asked to declare whether you have undertaken any previous 3rd level education. Students who have never attended a 3rd level institution should select ‘No’. If you have previously attended a third level institution you will need to select ‘Yes’ from the drop down list. You should then proceed to select ‘Continue’.

If you select ‘Yes’ you will be presented with the screen below. Registration will be stopped until you have submitted an FRS2 form to the Academic Registry and it has been subsequently processed by our Student Finance Team. The next screen within the ‘Financials’ task allows you to provide details of any sponsorship or grants you have applied for or may be receiving. If you are in receipt of a grant or sponsorship, or if you have applied for a SUSI grant, please click ‘Add’. If you are not in receipt or have not applied for any grants or sponsorship please select ‘Continue’.

If you are providing sponsorship details, the screen below will be displayed. You should select the relevant sponsor from the drop down menu. If you have applied for a SUSI grant you must also enter your SUSI application number. You should indicate the amount you expect to receive from your sponsor / grant authority. Undergraduate students applying for a SUSI grant should enter the percentage as 100%, postgraduate students applying for a SUSI grant should enter the amount as €2,000. In the event that you do not secure a grant from SUSI you will be liable for any fees not covered. Once you have entered your information please press ‘Save’.

Once you have entered sponsorship information you will be shown a summary of the information you have entered as per the screen below. At this point you can choose to add another sponsor by selecting ‘Add’ or you may amend any information by selecting ‘Amend’. Once you have entered the correct information you should select ‘Continue’.

You will now be shown a summary of all the financial information you have provided during the process, based on which your financial liability to the College will be determined. By clicking ‘Next’ you will be presented with an adjusted bill. You will not be able to return to this

The bill will show a description of all fees owed and the total balance. If you have the option of paying in two instalments this will also be displayed. Please note EU students only are eligible to make payment in instalments. Only nonEU continuing students may apply to pay in instalments.

The bottom of the screen will display your options. If you click ‘Add Other Sponsorship’ you will be able to add other sponsors or grants. Please note if the employer is the sponsor, the sponsor details needs to be entered under ‘Add Other Sponsorship’, however Trinity will invoice the student for the full payment of fees. By selecting ‘Pay’ you will be able to make a payment. By clicking ‘Exit’ you will be able to exit this screen and return to your bill at a later time. Please note you will only be brought to the bill screen when you re-enter your “Financials” task again. You will not have the option to begin this task from the beginning. – needs further explanation.

After you have selected ‘Pay’ you will be presented with the screen below. You may pay either online or through an electronic funds transfer (EFT). Please note that making an on-line payment with a credit / debit card will be instant and will allow you to complete your registration. If you are making a payment with a debit card please be aware of any limits on daily expenditure amounts. You may need to make several transactions over a few days to cover your total bill. By selecting EFT you will be provided with account details to which funds should be transferred. Please provide your TCD student ID number as the reference when processing an EFT payment as this will speed up the processing of your payment – absence of your TCD Student ID No. makes it difficult for us to track your payment.

Trinity partners with ‘PaytoStudy’ to allow international students to pay from their home country in their local currency. The service also

provides a detailed receipt and helps the Student Finance team better track payments to student numbers than using traditional wire transfer payments. There is no international transfer charge for using the service. ‘PaytoStudy’ is the recommended method of payment for

By selecting ‘Online Payment’ you will be presented with the screen below. From here you can return to view your bill by clicking ‘Back to Bill’ or you can make a payment by clicking ‘Proceed to Pay’.

You may choose an amount to pay by selecting ‘Update Amount to Pay now’ followed by entering the amount you wish to pay. Once you have amended the payment amount you should select ‘Pay Now’.

Having selected ‘Pay Now’, you will be directed to the Realex (On-line) Payment System. Please note you select pay now only once, selection more than once could result in multiple payments.

If you select EFT payment you will be presented with the following screen. You will be asked to select the currency you wish to pay in, either Euro or your local currency. International students are recommended to select payment in local currency.

Once your payment has been made and received by the College your homepage will look like this. You should note that payment of fees is not the final stage in registration and your portal will still show ‘Not Yet Registered’. You must complete all outstanding registration tasks in

Once all the preceding tasks are complete the Trinity Foundation task will become accessible. This is a statement permitting some information provided to TCD to be shared with the Trinity Foundation. The Trinity Foundation is responsible for developing alumni relations (visit

www.tcd.ie/alumni ). You may opt out of disclosing your details to the Foundation by ticking the box. If you are happy to disclose your information please click ‘Continue’.

On completion of all the previous task and acceptance of the College’s Terms & Conditions of registration, you will have completed the on-line registration process. Please tick ‘Agree to Terms and Conditions’ and then select ‘Continue’.

You can now print your ‘Confirmation of Registration’. You will need to print this document and present it to the Academic Registry in order to receive your TCD Student ID Card. Please note students must click on the confirmation of Registration button and it will be sent to your In-tray message.
