Very Important: Always check SAP Note 2034647 to find and download the latest version of this quick guide.

2

SAP Business Intelligence Adoption

rapid-deployment solution Building Blocks

Definition

Building blocks are reusable preconfiguration or documentation units that you can combine in order to install an SAP business scenario or solution. The building block concept offers

substantial benefits to SAP Channel Partners involved in the development, distribution, and sale of SAP solutions for the SMB market. You can use the building block installations as the basis for your own vertical solutions. Similar to a construction kit, you can assemble building blocks flexibly to set up business scenarios. Using building blocks for installing business content means

reducing redundancies, because you can use a generic building block in different solutions. In the past, the configuration content was component-focused and you had to import the configuration of an entire system, whereas now you can select blocks of scenario-oriented configuration. The reusability of building blocks accelerates and facilitates the installation because you no longer need to import the settings of an entire system but can build on separate configuration blocks. Consequently, development and maintenance costs are minimized, because redundant development is reduced.

Building Block Characteristics

A building block is not characterized by the level of configuration it covers but by its reusability as a complete configuration entity in the installation of one or more solutions. With the building block approach, you can therefore classify both entire solutions and minor specific configuration packages as building blocks, depending on their ability to feature as configuration units in different solutions.

2.1 Solution Overview

This quick guide only provides the implementation for BI reporting on BW’s BI content with latest BI platform 4.1 technologies.

* CR3 CR4 CR5 CR6 are to merge existing CRM Analytics RDS into BI Adoption RDS (Dashboard and Bex Reports on BW content, Reporting on CRM WEB UI via BI Java Portal).

As for other BI platform 4.0 architeture and technology to implement BI reporting on existing HANA content or ECC, please refer to following existing Rapid Deployment Solution Packages as samples: SAP Note 1826840: Rapid deployment of operational reporting with SAP HANA

2.2 Best Practise Guide to choose stuitable Solution

Architecture and BI Reporting Tool

In the service document of this Rapid Deployment Solution, we provides the Best Practise Guide to choose stuitable Solution Architecture and BI Reporting Tool:

For BW Customers, one option is to use BI reporting on BW’s BI content, which is implimented in this quick giude. Meanwhile, if they have HANA as well, they can also refer the predefined configuration and content of this quick guide for more BI adoption on BW content before / after BW migration to HANA database.

(8)

For HANA Customer who requires real time analytics based on large volumn of data, they can choose the content on HANA as SAP Note 1826840 mentions ( Rapid deployment of operational reporting with SAP HANA)

In Service Step-By-Step Guide - Start: Do Kick-Off Workshop page, you can download the Best practice Guide document.

2.3 Document Types and Content

Purpose

In order to set up an analytics scenario, you have to install a number of building blocks in a predefined sequence. For each building block, documents are available that describe the preparation and installation procedures for a standalone building block or scenario. The installation documentation for a given scenario therefore comes in the form of a number of individual documents that are delivered together with their associated building block.

The individual installation documents can therefore not be used on their own and it is important that you read the documentation carefully in the correct order.

The following table provides an overview of the documentation delivered with the SAP Business Intelligence Adoption rapid-deployment solution:

Document Type Purpose File

Format Prerequisites

Implementation Methodology

Overall project guidance is provided in the form of a specific implementation roadmap, the implementation methodology for the SAP Business Intelligence Adoption rapid-deployment solution, which is a phased, delivery-oriented methodology that streamlines implementation projects for solution packages, guiding project teams through the following phases:

 Start  Deploy  Run

The methodology supports project teams with templates, tools, questionnaires, and checklists, including guidebooks and accelerators to ensure the quick and pragmatic implementation of rapid-deployment solutions.

The SAP Business Intelligence Adoption rapid-deployment solution does not make use of automated installation procedures. The configuration guides in the SAP Business Intelligence

(9)

Adoption rapid-deployment solution package describe how to manually configure the system in order to get the SAP Best Practices business scenarios up and running.

The SAP Business Intelligence Adoption rapid-deployment solution solution documentation provides you with all you need for setting up the SAP rapid-deployment solution business scenarios.

4

System Preparation

The SAP Business Intelligence Adoption rapid-deployment solution solution has been tested in an environment with different system landscape components for certain release and support

package levels specified in the following sections.

If the release and support package levels do not match the levels indicated, errors may occur. The documentation is based on the menu paths and transaction views as they appear in the given system environments.

We therefore recommend that you use the release and support package level prerequisites specified below for each system involved. After installation, you can upgrade to the latest release and support packages.

4.1 Required SAP Product and Software Component Versions

The table lists all software required to implement the whole scope of this solution. Customer should adopt the applicable scope according to their actual landscape and business scope. Please refer to the required SAP Product and software component versions in

RDS_BIA_BOA41V5_Requirements_EN_XX.doc document.

Very Important: Don’t use solution manager to implement this RDS

This document (Quick guide) is the entry point to start implementation this RDS. Although this RDS also released solution manager content as well, please don’t use solution manager template for implementation. In our solution manager template, we just define the reference link to each configuration guide word document. We didn't deliver any automatically deployment content in solution manager template.

4.2 Solution Architecture and Required Software based on

Customer’s Landscape

To deploy BI on BW of this package, the applicable scope depends on customer’s landscape. Please refer to more details in RDS_BIA_BOA41V5_Requirements_EN_XX.doc document.

4.3 Creating Role in BW (Optional)

In this activity you create Roles in BW and assign your User ID to this role, which will be used to integration with BI platform

Procedure

This activity must be performed in the SAP BW system.

(10)

SAP BW Menu Role Maintenance Transaction Code PFCG

2. On the Role Maintenance screen, Enter a name for the Role, for example ZBPR_BIA_RPT. 3. Choose Single Role.

4. On the Create Roles screen, enter a description for Description field, for example SAP BI Adoption Reporting

5. Choose Save button from the upper menu.

6. Choose the Authorizations tab, and click the ‘Change Authorization Data’ to grant enough authorization which can be used to access data of BW infoCubes and Queries.

For reference/example, customer can choose S_RS_RREPU (“BI Role: Reporting user”) from ‘Choose Template’ dialog, then choose ‘Adopt reference’. Choose ‘generate’ button to generate the authorization profile.

Customer can adopt more complex authorization strategy in BW side, and this is not provided by this package by default, but by additional services.

7. Choose User tab; enter your User ID you want to add to the role under User Assignments section and press Enter.

8. Select the users you added and click User comparison button. 9. In the Compare Role User Master Record dialog box, choose Cancel. 10. Save your settings.

4.4 BI Platform Pre-configuration (Optional)

4.4.1 Configuring SAP Authentication

SAP authentication enables your BW users to log onto BI platform using their BW user names and passwords, without storing these passwords in BI platform, SAP authentication also allows you to preserve information about user roles in BW, and to use this role information within the platform to assign rights to perform administrative tasks, or access content, you can follow the below steps to implement this activity.

(11)

Procedure

1. Go to the Authentication management area of CMC. 2. Double-click the SAP link.

The entitlement systems settings appear.

4.4.2 Enable SAP Authentication in BI Launch Pad

SAP authentication is invisible in BI Launch Pad logon screen by default. To make SAP authentication available, you need to edit the BI Launch pad properties in your BOE server. To modify BI Launch pad default settings, you need to set custom BI Launch pad properties.

Procedure

1. Go to the following directory in your BI platform installation: <INSTALLDIR>\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\warfiles\webapps\BOE\WEB-INF\config\custom\

If you are using the Tomcat version installed with BI platform, you can also access the following directory: C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP

BusinessObjects\Tomcat6\webapps\BOE\WEBINF\config\custom

If you are using any other supported web application server, consult the documentation for your web application server to determine the appropriate path.

2. Create a new file named: BIlaunchpad.properties

3. Edit the file by notepad and include the authentication options on the BI launch pad logon screen add the following entries:

authentication.visible=true authentication.default=secSAPR3

4.4.3 User Security Setting (Optional)

A user group will be created automatically along with you import BW roles into BI Platform by step 4.4.1, all users which you are using to log onto BI Platform with SAP Authentication will be

assigned to that user group, by default the user group doesn’t have access privileges to public folders via BI Launch Pad, please change user security setting according to your real business demand.

A user group will be created having the name : BI4~800@ZBPR_BIA_RPT

For reference/example, you could simply assign the user group to administrative, certainly you are also able to adopt more complex authorization strategy, but this is not provided by this package by default, but by additional services.

The building blocks per scenario include all implementions which are based on different requirement to customer’s landscapes:

(1) BW on any Database , without seperate HANA (Conventional BW or BW on HANA)

These configurations can be implemented in BW on any Database. In building blocks configuration guide, all configurations are applicable for (1) by default unless there are additional landscape prerequisites information marked for (2) and (3) .

These configurations are for the BI reports which is based on SAP Standard BW Content object (0*) and SAP BP-BW Addon BW content object (name space /PKG/). All /PKG/ namespace BW objects can be activated on both conventional BW and BW HANA.

(2) BW on any Database (eg: conventional BW) + seperate HANA (BW and HANA Mixed Scenario)

The configurations marked with landscape prerequisites (2) requires seperate HANA sever.

These configurations are for the BI reports which is based on SAP BP-BW Addon BW content object (name space /PKG/). We can activate these /PKG/ namespace objects on conventional BW , but we can’t use these /PKG/ namespace BW Model objects without HANA views.

(24)

The configurations marked with landscape prerequisites (3) requires BW on HANA. These configurations are for the BI reports which is based on SAP HANA Optimized BW content object (name space /IMO/) and SAP HANA Optimized BP-BW Addon BW content object (name space /PIO/), which requires BW’s Database migration into HANA as prerequisites.
