Students to focus on short passing in football. By the end of lesson students should know how to pass a football using the

inside of the foot in isolation and a conditioned game. Warm up: Passing through cones warm up. Students to work in

pairs to pass a ball and dribble to another area. Competitive as to see who can pass through the most in a minute.

Main Component: Playing around the box. Students will work 3v1 to try and keep possession against a defender. Players cannot play through the box to try and start the idea of playing

triangles.

Conditioned Game: Keeping possession in the box vs another opponent in a 4v4 square. If students can make 5 passes, then

they score a point.

Students to complete Lesson 1 in the paper pack which focuses on how to complete a pass correctly, with students creating coaching cards of how to pass accurately

in Football.

Students to watch this clip on how to pass accurately. Make notes and then create a poster for beginners explaining how to pass correctly.

12.4.21 Football (Boys): Lesson 2: Passing and Dribbling Students to focus on keeping the ball under pressure, trying to

use a range of passes to outwit their opponent. This will be then tested in a conditioned game.

Warm Up: Students to play 2v2 trying to pass the ball and stopping it on the other person’s line. If tackled the ball is

stopped and restarted.

Main Component: Teacher to make it team vs team and trying to keep the ball and score in the other team’s line. Conditioned Game: Teacher to introduce goals to allow students to consolidate passing and see if they can turn their

possession into an attacking opportunity

Students to complete Lesson 2 in the paper pack which focuses on

the skills learnt in Passing and Dribbling. Students are to complete

a quiz about the correct technique for passing

and dribbling.

19.4.21 Football (Boys) Lesson 3: Attacking Principles Students to focus on dribbling, passing and keeping possession

in different attacking styles/principles.

Warm Up: Students to play a match to start with to consolidate passing and keeping possession.

Students to read Lesson 3 in the Paper Pack. Students must create a mind map of the different

Attacking Principles.

Task 1) Students watch the video clip of Mr Harness completing a football challenge- try and have a go yourself. Can you beat Mr

Harness?

Task 2) students to read through notes on attaching principles and watch this clip

Main Component: Students to work on an exercise called Alamo. Students will work in groups of 3 where they must dribble past the opposition and have a shot on goal. They must work as a team to get passed the defending team in order to get

their shot away.

Conditioned Game: Students will return to the game from their warmup. Students will be focusing on the attacking principles learnt in the main component and will be trying to

adopt these principles in a conditioned game.

Task 3) create a mind-map of the different attacking principles

19.4.21 Football (Boys) Lesson 4: Defensive Principles Students to focus on the three defensive methods in football both in isolation and in a conditioned game. These are Deny,

Predict, Restrict.

First task: 1 v1 defending. Students to work in pairs. One player will pass to the other and will press to try and win the

ball off them. Key focus on.

- Showing the outside to show out of play - Jousting

- Jockeying on your toes - Side on.

Main Component: Students to work in their teams and repeat

Conditioned Game: Students to play a match to consolidate both attacking phases and defensive work. Specific emphasis to be placed on denying the space, predicting the next move of your opponent and restricting what they can do for their next passage of play.

26.4.21 Football (Boys) Lesson 5: Shooting

Students to learn how to strike/shoot a ball effectively both in Isolation and in a Conditioned Game. Warm up/First task: Students to warm up with a return of

2V2 Alamo from the previous lesson. Students will practice their dribbling and shooting in preparation for shooting in

isolation and a conditioned game.

Main Component: Students to work in group of 4. 1 person is the keeper, 2 are the attackers and 1 being the defender. The attacking team will start with the ball and will practice striking

the ball, with particular focus being aiming for the corners of the goal.

Football Lesson 6 (Boys): Rules and Assessment The focus of this lesson is for students to adopt some of the

rules in football and apply all the skills learnt in a tournament against their peers.

Students will adopt the following rules. - Handball

- Throw In

- Fouling (Direct and Indirect) - Corners

- Penalties and Free Kicks. - Offside (Higher Ability groups)

Students to create a poster on the rules of

Football using the information given to them in Lesson 6 in the

Paper Pack.

Task 1) Students watch the video clip of Mr Harness completing a football challenge- try and have a go yourself. Can you beat Mr

Harness?

Task 2) Students to create a poster on the rules of Football using the information given to them in Lesson 6 on Teams.

12.4.21 Netball Lesson 1: Passing

Students should have some prior knowledge from Primary School on High 5 Netball and the basic passing skills. Students are going to focus on the three main types of passing

in Netball. Chest, Bounce and Shoulder.

Students to work through Lesson 1 in the Paper

Pack. Students must create a lesson plan based off passing in

Netball.

beat them.

Students to focus on having their hands in a W position to help them catch the ball easier.

- Ball should be released at chest height. - Fingers spread around the ball in W shape.

- Elbows tucked in (no chicken wings) - Transfer weight forward and push the ball. - Extend and follow through with arms, wrists and

fingers.

- Path of ball should flat and fast. Students to then play an endzone game which will focus on students using a range of passes to get the ball into the other teams zone to score a point.

Recap marking: 3v3 game focussing on passing for attackers and marking techniques for defenders:

Marking: 1 meter away (ensure feet are in position before hands are raised) On tip toes, hands extended over ball, hands

What is the role of attack? What is the role of defence? Where should each player primarily be placed during a game?

Game: 7 v 7, Obstruction rule, footwork rule and ‘over a 3rd rule’ emphasised. Off-side at your discretion.

19.4.21 Netball Lesson 3: Dodging

Obj1: To develop an ability to dodge an opponent in order to advance.

Obj2: To be able to organise themselves as a team according to their ability to dodge.

Obj3: Evaluate a ‘perfect model’ and draw key coaching points from it.

W/U: Cardiovascular (some agility would be useful) – Skill related (getting free for the ball (2v2) – Stretches. Dev1: Q&A regarding an attacking player. What is their aim? What key skills do they need to have? - they need to be able to

dodge effectively in order to receive a pass.

Demo technique for dodging: Feint in one direction – accelerate forward in other. What is important when dodging successfully? – On toes/agility, quick changes of speed, moving

forward for the pass.

Dev2: in 3’s, 1 feeder, 1 attacker, 1 passive defender. Using technique dodge defender to drive forward for the pass.

Game: 7 v 7. Pupils should decide in their teams who is best to play the defending positions based on their ability to dodge

form the lesson. Pupils should refer to team sheets (see resources) if stuck on where they are allowed on court.

Condition: no overhead passes.

19.4.21 Netball Lesson 4: Shooting (Girls)

Dev1: Demonstrate the correct technique for shooting in netball:

- Stand with your feet shoulder width apart and keep your body straight.

- Balance the ball on the fingertips of one hand and use your other hand to steady it.

- Bend knees, drop hands behind head, keep back straight.

- Focus on a point at the back of the ring, and let the ball go at the same time as you straighten your legs. Pupils then practice through playing a shooting game e.g. Killer

Dev2: Using the ‘Games Making’ Cards pupils are to created their own game in order to improve their shooting skills. The

game must have: - A Focus on Shooting

- A clear area. - A points system

Students to create a coaching card on how to

shoot accurately in Netball. Students must

highlight the correct technique needed. All the

information is in Lesson 4 in the Paper Pack.

pictures of how to shoot correctly in their poster.

Q&A on the correct technique for shooting. What would the defender do when the GS or GA is shooting? 26.4.21 Netball Lesson 5: Rules and Conditioned Games

The lesson is going to be focused on students learning the basic rules of Netball:

Zones each position can play in. The positions on the court.

Footwork.

Students to consolidate their skills learnt in the previous lesson and will look to apply it into a game situation.

Students to create a poster on the rules of Netball. Students need to

create a poster with at least 7 rules of Netball, for someone who has

never played Netball before to understand.

Students need to research the rules of Netball. Students must then create a poster with the ten most important rules in Netball.

26.4.21 Netball Lesson 6: Assessment (Girls) Warm Up:

Pupils to conduct own warm up as part of the assessment

Students to complete a key words test ensuring

they know the correct spelling and definition

Students to complete the online quiz set on Microsoft Teams based around Throwing in Netball as well as attacking Principles. This will

showing that they understand the 3 sections to a warm up and that can identify at least 5 muscles in the body and how to stretch them. Pupils need to demonstrate safely when doing this. (This is part of the assessment: “they can apply basic

safety principles in preparing for warm up” NC2000)

Dev:

Teacher reads out the success criteria for a level 5 in Netball (see assessment sheet for pupil speak/ below for teacher speak) so that pupils are aware of what they have to do to gain

the appropriate grade.

Can dodge an opponent in order to advance Is successful in applying the correct technique when

marking a player.

Pupils gain a level 5 if they can successfully ‘tick’ each of the above criteria.

NB: Pupils get assessed in K/U as much as S/A. Therefore there is a question sheet to use if you feel a pupil has not or

3.5.21 Athletics - Running.

Students to work on sprinting over 100m Students to focus on sprinting the 100m.

Teacher to warm up students with cup and saucers. Teacher going to warm up the students with high knees, lunges and

jogging in order to bring in early technique for sprinting

In pairs how far can you run in 4 seconds? Student 1 will do 3 runs trying to improve their Personal Best.

Students to return to LA2 and will look to improve their distance over a 4 second period.

3.5.21 Athletics - Running -

Long Distance Running

Students to start by being asked to run 800m time in 2:30 minutes.

Students to be questioned on why they are tired running 2:30 minutes.

Students to retake their 800m time but this time running at a pace they think they can get round in a comfortable time and

not fatiguing looking at pacing.

Students to peer assess students pacing and help them improve for their final run.

Students to write down their best time on their worksheet. Students to reflect on their 1st run to their individual run and

self-assess how they have improved over the lesson

10.5.21 Athletics - Running

going to communicate.

Students to play a game of rounders using 10 good balls before switching over.

Lesson 3: Batting

Students to start by playing a game of rounders using the full rules of rounders. Teacher to explain the rules of rounders to

Students to work in groups of 3. 1 student will bat and will aim to hit the ball to person 3 who will be catching. 3 balls

each before switching over.

points to batting effectively in Rounders.

Students to then complete the Kahoot quiz based on batting in Rounders as well as Fielding and Throwing to consolidate knowledge

14.6.21 Striking and Fielding- Rounders (Girls)

Lesson 4: Rules and Game

Students to play a tournament based on some of the rules of Rounders. Students will be applying what they have learnt in

the previous lessons into a competitive situation. Bowling

Aiming between the shoulder and the waist when bowling. Also, bowling underarm.

Batting

1 or 2 hands on the bat. Looking to place the ball. Eye on the ball.

Students to read Lesson 4 in the Paper Pack. Students must create a mind map of the different

Rules in Rounders.

21.6.21 Striking and Fielding – Cricket (Boys) Bowling

Students to practice their bowling technique to ensure they have the correct arm action for when they bowl. Students to adopt the ‘Ninja’ position having one knee up and their arm in the air holding the ball with ‘bunny ears’ motion. Students to then turn into Warrior position by having their arms spread out with the ball being behind the person's head.

Student to then release the ball.

Students to test their bowling by having a competition against the wickets to see if they can hit them. If they hit them, they

must take a stump out and try and hit the wicket making it more difficult.

Students to transition into a small game.

Student to learn the correct teaching points

for Bowling the ball in Cricket in Lesson 1 of

their paper pack. Students to then create a

poster on how to bowl effectively, drawing pictures of each stage to

show knowledge and understanding.

Lesson 3: Fielding

Students to warm up by playing musical catching. Students to practice their throwing and catching until the music stops. Once the music stops they must run to a wicket as quick as

possible.

Students to then practice working on the long barrier. Students to focus on making their long barrier as big as possible and

closing off any gaps.

Students to play small sided games where they can only field by throwing the ball to the wicket and by doing a long barrier to

transfer the skills learnt into a game situation.
