IMPORTANT DATES FOR STUDENTS 2015-2016

Fall 2015

August 4, Tuesday Fall 2015 payment due.

August 26, Wednesday New transfer student check-in and orientation.

Opening day for new students.

New student check-in Dorsey Center 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

August 26-30, Wednesday-Sunday Fall orientation for incoming first year students.

August 30, Sunday Opening day for returning students.

Check-in Dorsey Center 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

August 31, Monday Classes begin at 8:30 a.m.

September 2, Wednesday Opening Celebration

September 3, Thursday Internship learning agreements for Fall I 2015 due in Career Development Office (CDO).

September 4, Friday Last day to drop a half course (1st 7 week) without a “W”.

Last day to add a half course (1st 7 week).

Last day to add a semester course in Student Administrative Services (SAS) if it requires special assistance/approval to register.

Last day to elect audit option for a half course (1st 7 week) – instructor’s and adviser’s signatures required.

Last day for students to submit work to faculty sponsors for Summer 2015 internships, independent work or completed Intensive Course Abroad (ICA) (courses not having a Fall 2015 Post Course.)

No refund of room charges after this date if moving out of residence halls.

September 7, Monday Labor Day (no classes)

Last day to add and drop a semester course online that doesn’t require special assistance/approval to register.

September 14, Monday Last day to drop a semester course without a “W” - adviser’s signature required.

Last day to elect audit option for a semester course already enrolled in – instructor’s and adviser’s signatures

required.

Last day to submit meal plan changes at www.goucher.edu/mealchange.

Financial aid awards adjusted at end of add/drop for students enrolled less than full-time.

Semester tuition, fees, room, and board charges are based on course load, room assignment, and meal plan selection as of this date. No reduction in tuition and fee charges for students who withdraw from a course after this date (excluding withdrawn students).

September 18, Friday Last day to withdraw from a half course (1st 7 week) with

October 9, Friday Last day for students to submit work for incomplete

October 20, Tuesday First day of the 2nd 7 week courses.

October 28, Wednesday Summer 2016 ICA’s application deadline.

October 30, Friday Deadline for second semester sophomores to declare their

November 2-13, Monday-Friday Academic advising for Spring 2016.

November 6, Friday Last day to withdraw from semester courses with a “W” –

Last day to elect pass/no pass, or change from pass/no pass to regular grade, in a semester course – adviser’s signature required.

Last day to withdraw from a half course (2nd 7 week) with

Juniors must complete the Statement of Intent for Senior Thesis and submit it to the office of the Associate Provost on or before the last day of classes of the preceding semester in which senior thesis work formally begins.

November 16-20, Monday-Friday Online registration for Spring 2016 begins, depending on number of completed credits. Days and times are published in the Registration Guidebook at

November 23, Monday Registration begins for Goucher January 2016 Intersession courses.

Non-Goucher course approval form for January 2016 intersession courses due in Student Administrative Services office (SAS).

November 25, Wednesday Residence halls close at noon.

November 25-29, Wednesday–Sunday Thanksgiving Holiday (no classes) November 29, Sunday Residence halls open at 9:00 a.m.

November 30, Monday Classes resume at 8:30 a.m.

Non-refundable $500 enrollment deposit and $100 housing deposit due in SAS for returning students who were not enrolled at Goucher Fall 2015. Housing deposit applies only to students residing on campus.

December 3, Thursday Summer 2016 ICA deposit due in SAS.

December 8, Tuesday Spring 2016 E-bill notification emailed to students and their authorized parties.

December 11, Friday Last day of classes.

Incomplete Grade requests for Fall 2015 courses due at 5pm in SAS.

Last day to submit work to faculty sponsors for Fall 2015 internships, independent work and extended incompletes.

Deadline for submission of internship learning agreements (ILA’s) for Winter 2016 to Career Development.

December 12-13, Saturday–Sunday Reading Period December 14-17, Monday–Thursday Final Exams

December 15, Tuesday Last day for students to initially register for Spring 2016 courses to avoid the $100 late registration fee.

January 8, Friday Add/drop deadline for January Intersession courses.

Instructor’s and advisor’s signatures required to add a course.

January 15, Friday Last day to withdraw from a winter internship with a “W”

– adviser’s signature required.

January 18, Monday Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday (no classes).

SPRING 2016

January 5, Tuesday Spring 2016 payment due.

January 23-24, Saturday-Sunday January orientation program for incoming first year and transfer students.

January 24, Sunday Opening day for all students.

Residence halls open at 9:00 a.m.

January 25, Monday FYE 134 mandatory meeting for all first year students and first year advisers.

January 26, Tuesday Classes begin at 8:30 a.m.

Schedule adjustments/advising.

January 28, Thursday Internship learning agreements for Spring I 2016 due in Career Development Office (CDO).

January 29, Friday Last day to submit work to faculty sponsors for Winter End of first week of classes

2016 internship and independent work. Intensive course abroad (ICA) work due for courses that do not have a spring post-course.

No refund of room charges after this date if moving out of residence halls.

Last day to submit or make any changes to the Online Application for Degree for students graduating and/or expecting to participate in May 2016 commencement ceremony. After this date any changes must be made in the SAS office and refunds will not be issued.

No refund of tuition and fees for semester withdrawals after this date.

February 29, Monday Final deadline for new spring students to submit health insurance waiver.

March 1, Tuesday Priority deadline for Maryland residents to submit 2016-2017 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to be considered for Maryland state aid for 2016-2017 academic year.

March 4, Friday Last day to submit work to instructor for incomplete End of week 6 grades from Fall 2015 and Winter 2016.

March 11, Friday 1st 7 week courses end.

Residence halls close at 10:00 p.m.

March 14-20, Monday-Sunday Spring Break – no classes.

March 20, Sunday Residence halls open at 9:00 a.m.

June 6, Monday Final payment deadline for summer undergraduate sessions (100% refund if withdrawing from a class prior to June 6, 75%

refund during 1st week, 50% during 2nd week, no refund after 2nd week).

July 17, Friday Internship Learning Agreement (ILA) for Summer II 2016 session due in Career Development.

Within 1 week of To drop a summer internship (Summer I or II), submit a drop Summer I & II start date form to the Registrar’s Office no later than 1 week after the

start of the internship.

Within 3 weeks of To withdraw from a summer internship (Summer I or II) with Summer I & II start date a “W”, submit a drop form to the Registrar’s Office no later

than 3 weeks after the start of the internship, or if the internship is less than 3 weeks in length, submit it before the end of the internship.
