TODAY'S MATCH: The Giants continue a six-game, seven-day road trip today here today in Chicago after enjoying their first off day since August 23 yesterday...SF has won four straight and six of their last seven games overall...the Giants are 3-0 on their road trip thus far after sweeping Colorado Monday-Wednesday.

ROSTER MOVES: LHP Jose Quintana has been placed on the Paternity List...RHP Jay Jackson (#65) has been recalled from Triple-A Sacramento.

DIAMOND DOGS: The Giants (90-50, .640) enter today with the best record in the Majors, just ahead of the Dodgers and Rays, who are both 88-52 (.629)...with their win on Wednesday, SF was the first team in the Majors to 90 wins for the sixth time in franchise history according to Elias and did so for the first time since 2000...it was the quickest a Giants team got to 90 wins (140 games) since the 1913 Giants were 91-46-3 after 140 games.

WONDER KID: IF/OF LaMonte Wade Jr. catapulted the Giants

to a victory on Wednesday with his two-run single in the 9th inning to give SF a lead they wouldn't relinquish...Wade Jr. has six RBI in the 9th inning or later this season that have either given the Giants the lead or tied the game...he has 17 go-ahead RBI this season, second-most on the Giants behind IF Brandon Crawford's 19...since May 28, the date of Wade Jr.'s first go-ahead RBI, his 17 are tied for fourth-most in the NL behind Charlie Blackmon, Manny Machado and Joey Votto, who are all tied for first with 18...his 11 game-winning RBI since May 28 are most in the NL and second-most in the Majors behind Austin Meadows' 15.

THE CAT'S PAJAMAS: IF/OF Kris Bryant returns to Chicago today for the first time since being acquired by SF at the trade deadline...Bryant helped lead the Cubs to a World Series title in 2016, a season in which he also was named the National League MVP...he won the NL Rookie of the Year in 2015 and was a four-time All-Star (2015-16, 2019 and 2021) in his six and a half seasons in Chicago.

SMELLS LIKE POTENTIAL: The Giants have posted the lowest bullpen ERA (2.66) of any team in the Majors since the All-Star break...in the same time frame, the Giants starters have a 3.90 ERA, eighth-lowest in the Majors.

ONE FOR THE (NELSON) ROAD: The Giants picked up their 45th road victory with their win

in Colorado on Wednesday...it's only the seventh time in the SF-era (1958-pres.) that a Giants team has won at least 45 games on the road in a single season...the last time it happened prior to this year was 2012, when they won 46 road games...the SF-era record for road wins is 53, set by the '93 Giants...according to Stats, LLC, the Giants 45- 27 road record is the team's second-best through 72 road games since moving to SF behind the '93 team's 46-26 mark.

BISCUITS: SF's 208 homers are the most the Giants have hit in a season since mashing a franchise-best 235 homers in 2001...overall, the 208 homers are fourth-most in team history.

BASEBALL IS LIFE: The Giants finally enjoyed

an off-day yesterday after 16 straight days of games where they played at the Mets and Braves before hosting the Brewers and Dodgers at home...they wrapped the 16-day run with three-games in Colorado earlier this week...SF went 10-6 in that stretch.

RHP Dominic Leone starts for the Giants this afternoon, making his second start of the season and his career...Leone started the Giants last bullpen game on Sunday at home vs. the Dodgers, tossing 1.0 scoreless, hitless inning...he then came out of the pen the next day, Monday at Colorado, and pitched the 9th inning...Leone owns a 0.49 ERA in 19 road games this season.
