Message from Principal Kory

Aprende Families,

As we are well into 2nd quarter (the year is flying by!), I wanted to reach out and let you know that we are so proud of our students for getting back on track with behavior and academics. While we still have some growth and adjustments that need to be made with a small number of students, our students have stepped up and gotten back into the “groove” of in-person middle school. In addition, we are also very proud to see them excel and find joy/enthusiasm in all of our amazing extra curriculars. We are so happy to see them participating again in sports, performing arts, and clubs. Our Student Council is also busy preparing for an upcoming (and long overdue) winter dance.

Our 8th grade students began the registration process for high school this week. 8th grade parents, please continue to remind your 8th graders to attend to their academics and be the awesome role models and leaders (that we know they are). Their transition to high school will come quickly and the Aprende community wants to send them on prepared and positive about this new rite of passage.

As always, thank you for your support and if you need anything or have questions/concerns, don’t hesitate to reach out.

Respectfully,

Renee Kory, Aprende Principal [email protected]

P.S. Thank you to all the families who have donated to PTSO fundraiser. These funds directly support teachers and students (and student activities).

JV Lady Jaguars Volleyball lost in the finals to Altadena 2-1 (25-17, 18-25, 14-16).

Great season JV!!

The Aprende Boys Varsity Soccer team had an outstanding 2021 season. Over the past few months, the team remained dedicated and committed to improving at each training session.

There was individual growth in the varied skill sets, but more importantly team camaraderie that grew strong with each week of training. The boys consistently played with focus and inspiration … and quickly realized the importance of the sum being greater than the parts.

Excellent memories and friendships were cultivated because of the Aprende soccer program.

Thank you to Carl Nasuta, Alissa DeFoe, Rachel Polay and the Kyrene Athletics Dept for

providing a fun and exciting experience for the boys. Thank you to all of the parents, families and friends that provided incredible support, enthusiasm and positive energy at every match.

Please be sure to support the Aprende girls soccer teams that will be starting their winter soccer season soon. Semi-finals: Mon 11/1 vs KMS 8-1 WIN! Finals: Wed 11/3 vs ALT 1-1 (4-5 in PK’s) LOSS. Ended the season 2nd place in the District!!

JV Boys Soccer ended the season on a very high note. The boys won their semi-final game against Centennial 8-0! We had Jack and Dom with hat tricks. Brayden came in to save us in the net multiple times! On Wednesday, we lost against KMS 2-0 but we earned 2nd place in the district! Thank you to our JV boys for an incredible season of growth and positive teamwork. What a great way to end the season.

Hello Jaguar Families,

We hope you all had a great and safe Halloween!!! And now that Halloween is over, time to start thinking about the winter holidays!!! To do that, we have just the right fundraiser this month… paint projects at AR Workshop! they were so generous to gift a prize for our raffle and they have also opened their workshop to all of us Jaguar Player families!

here is the deal…

• the event is Saturday, November 13th from 10:00-2:30.

• you can either choose:

o a DIY project (ornaments or wood signs, see attached). this you order and then pick up at the Workshop (NW corner of Ray and McClintock). this you can order through Sunday,

November 14th.

o an in-person project… this has a ton of options (including the DIY). it could even be a custom sign… “You Outshine the Morning Sun” perhaps?! for the in-person event, choose a 1½ hour time slot between 10:00 and 2:30. so grab your friends and family and have a fun day of it! think about checking a gift off your list!

• follow this link for more

information: https://www.arworkshop.com/event/?loc=chandler&ev=270573

• proceeds go towards the NYC 2022 fund.

• will you help us get over 100 projects (DIY or in-person) so we can earn 20%!?!

• lastly, now that you/your player have caught the theatre bug, let us know if you are interested in learning more about the NYC 2022 trip. we can always talk to World Strides about adding travelers.

As always, thank you so much for all of your support and we hope to see you there!

STUDENT HIGH SCHOOL ORIENTATION @ APRENDE was Tuesday, November 2

During Student Orientation at Aprende Middle School, students learned about the courses that are available. Students were given a curriculum booklet, describing these courses to take home. In addition to the information that these meetings will provide, the high school guidance counselors discussed with students the complete curriculum and specific requirements regarding high school. Students were provided information about the registration and class selection process for high school, and they were given high school registration paperwork, the high school counselors will return to pre-register students for classes on November 16.

Parents, please carefully review the information your child receives from the high school counselors to ensure that your child have everything he/she needs to register. As you review the registration materials, please note that there are several forms which will require your signature.
