This remote access end user reference guide provides an overview of how to install Citrix receiver (a required application) and use the https://vpn.stanfordhospital.org URL for F5 Edge VPN Client access.

What You Will Need

 RSA Token – Remote access requires a RSA token for login and authentication purposes. If you need a RSA token please note the following:

o Physicians: You can contact SHC Service Desk at 650.723.3333 for assistance.

o All other users: You are required to submit a form at https://access.stanfordmed.org. If you have any questions regarding this form, please contact SHC Service Desk at 650.723.3333.

 Citrix Receiver - In order to access Citrix applications, you will first need to ensure you have the Citrix Receiver application on any desktop, laptop or iPad you plan on using. To verify if you already have this application installed complete the following actions:

o On a Windows client, click on your start button and type in Citrix Receiver in the search field. If you have this installed, you’ll see “Citrix Receiver” appear under program files.

o On a MacBook, click on your application folder, and you should see the Citrix Receiver application in this folder.

o On your iPad, look through your apps and search for a “Citrix Receiver” app icon.

 Any of the following browsers to access https://vpn.stanfordhospital.org:

o Microsoft Internet Explorer (version 7, 8 or 9) o Mozilla Firefox (version 9.0.1)

o Google Chrome (version 17) o Apple Safari (version 5.1.2)

Installing Citrix Receiver for Mac 10.5 (Leopard)

1. When you are viewing the login page for F5 Edge VPN Client access, click on “Citrix Software for Mac OSX 10.5 (Leopard)”.

2. You will then see this pop up indicating the file is downloading. Once the download is complete, click on this file to install the application (detailed steps can be found in the Appendix section).

Installing Citrix Receiver for Mac 10.6 (Snow Leopard)

1. When you are viewing the login page for F5 Edge VPN Client access, click on “Citrix Software for Mac OSX 10.6 (Snow Leopard)”.

Installing Citrix Receiver for Mac 10.7 (Lion)

1. When you are viewing the login page for F5 Edge VPN Client access, click on “Citrix Software for Mac OSX 10.7 (Lion)”.

Installing Citrix Receiver for Windows

1. When you are viewing the login page for F5 Edge VPN Client access, click on “Citrix Software for Windows”.

2. Next, you will receive this pop up to allow Citrix receiver to download and install, click yes.

3. Citrix receiver will then start to install.

Installing Citrix Receiver on an iPad

1. When you are viewing the login page for F5 Edge VPN Client access, click on “Citrix Software for iOS devices (iPhone/iPad)”.

2. This link will provide detailed steps to download a Citrix receiver app on your apple mobile devices. For quick reference on how to download the app on your iPad, follow these steps:

1. On your iPad home screen, tap on the App Store icon.

2. Once you have entered the Apple store, type “Citrix receiver for iPad” in the search box.

3. Once you have identified the app, tap on it, and tap the free button next to Citrix Receiver to install the App.

4. Then enter your Apple ID Password in password pop-up when prompted and the install will begin.

5. To verify, look for this icon on your iPad.

Installing F5 Edge VPN Client for Mac

1. When you are viewing the login page for F5 Edge VPN Client access, click on “Mac VPN Edge Client”.

2. The download will begin, and once it completes click the file to start the install.

3. Installer pop up will appear, click continue.

5. When prompted, type in your password to allow the application to install.

Installing F5 Edge VPN Client for Windows

1. When you are viewing the login page for F5 Edge VPN Client access, click on “Windows VPN Edge Client”

and save the file to your desktop.

2. Click open start the download. Once the download is complete, you should see the file pop up like this. Click on the BIGIPEdgeClient file.

3. If you see this security warning, asking to allow this program to run, click run.

5. Click on install.

6. When prompted to allow the client to install to your computer, click yes.

7. Once the install completes, you will see this setup wizard indicating the install has completed, click finish.

Installing F5 Edge VPN Client for iPad

1. Download Application from iTunes App Store by searching for F5 BIG-IP Edge Client.

2. Once the download is complete, open the app.

3. Select enable after reading the user agreement.

4. Select Configuration and then choose Add Configuration.

5. Enter SHC VPN in the Description field.

6. Enter vpn.stanfordhospital.org in the Server field.

Logging into F5 Edge VPN Client for Mac

1. Find the F5 BIG-IP Edge click by opening your application folder and finding the application here.

2. Or look at your system tray and click on the F5 icon and then click on Show Main Window.

3. Click the connect button.

4. Enter your SHC credentials and click on logon. F5 BIG-IP Edge client will initialize and connect. You will see the following once you are connected. To disconnect, simply click on the Disconnect button.

For Mac 10.6/10.7 For Mac 10.5

Logging into F5 Edge VPN Client for Windows

1. Once you have installed F5 BIG-IP Edge client, you can connect by running the F5 BIG-IP Edge application.

Click start and find a folder called BIG-IP Edge Client under all folders and click on it or click on your system tray and double-click on the BIG-IP Edge icon here.

OR

2. Click on connect.

3. Then you will see this pop up where you will enter your SHC login credentials and click logon. F5 BIG-IP Edge client will initialize and connect. You will see the following once you are connected. To disconnect, simply click on the Disconnect button.

Logging into F5 Edge VPN Client for iPad

1. Tap the Edge Client app to launch it.

2. SHC VPN should be listed in the Configuration field. If it is not, tap Configuration and select SHC VPN to put a checkmark next to it.

3. Tap Connect and a web logon page will open asking for Username, Password, and Tokencode.

4. Enter the correct information and select Logon. The Status field will say Connected once VPN services have been successfully initiated. To logoff, launch the application and select Disconnect.

Appendix

For detailed instructions on how to install Citrix receiver on a Mac 10.5/10.6/10.7, please follow these steps:

1. Click on the URL for Citrix software compatible to your device.

2. You will then see this pop up indicating the file is downloading. Once the download is complete, click on this file.

3. You should then see this pop up where you will click on the yellow box.

You will see this for Mac 10.6/10.7.

You will see this for Mac 10.5.

4. You might receive this security message to ensure you want to allow this install. If you do, click continue.

5. Click continue again.

6. To set up Citrix receiver settings click continue.

7. Next read the license and click agree to accept the software license agreement.

9. You will then be asked to enter your password to allow the file to install. Once you enter your password click OK.

10. Finally, Citrix receiver is installed.
