2.A Apply a 3/8" continuous bead of sealant at the recessed sill/buck joint and recessed jamb/buck joint. Sealant should be applied 2 ½" across the recessed sill and up the recess jamb 2 ½".
2.B Apply a 3/8" continuous bead of sealant at the recessed sill/recessed jamb joint. The sealant applied at the recessed sill/recessed jamb joint should extend from the face of the bucks onto the exterior face of the sill flashing at the outside wall a minimum of 1".
Step 1. Install Sill Flashing at Recessed Opening
Product: 12" RainBuster #440 SubZero Flashing Tape™
1.A Flashing Length = (Recessed Opening Width) + 12"
1.B Install sill flashing flush with the sill of the recessed opening. Each end of the sill flashing should extend 6" beyond the jambs of the recessed opening. 1.C Adhere, and or fasten with staples or nails along top edge of flashing tight to the recessed opening (within 1" of the edge of the rough opening). Remove 2" of release sheet along top edge of flashing prior to installation. Note: the remaining release sheet will be removed and the flashing will be adhered after the weather resistive barrier has been installed.

Step 11. Install Head Flashing
Product: 12" RainBuster #440 Sub Zero Flashing Tape™
11.A Flashing Length = (Rough Opening Width) + (Width of Jamb Flashings) + 2" 11.B Install head flashing over the window flange and flush with the top of the window at the top of recessed opening. Each end of the head flashing should extend the width of the jamb flashing + 1" on each side of the recessed opening.
11.C Position head flashing into recessed opening and temporarily secure along top edge.
11.D Make vertical relief cuts at recessed jambs for head flashing to fold into recessed opening.
11.E Adhere flashing over window flange flush with the top of the window. Continue adhering flashing up the wood blocking, across the recessed header and up the outside wall (minimum 4"). Press flashing firmly into wood blocking/recessed header corner eliminating any voids or wrinkles. 11.F Using a J-Roller, apply pressure and roll entire surface of flashing. 11.G Fasten with staples or nails along top edge of flashing. Use minimum
number of fasteners required to keep flashing in place.
Step 12. Apply Cap Bead of Sealant at Window Flange
Product: RainBuster #450 Ultra High Performance Window & Door Sealant
12.A Apply a 1/2"-5/8" cap bead of sealant to the edge of the window flange at the sill and jambs. Leave a 3" void in the sealant at each end of the window flange at the sill of the window. Using a putty knife, flatten or “butter” cap bead and sealant squeeze out. “Buttered” sealant should extend 2" away from the window frame (approximately 1" beyond the outer edge of the window flange).
12.B Apply a 3/8"-1/2" fillet bead of sealant at the head flashing/top of win-dow joint. Tool into joint insuring bottom edge of head flashing is sealed to the top of the window.

Step 13. Apply Cap Bead of Sealant at Recessed Corners
Product: RainBuster #450 Ultra High Performance Window & Door Sealant
13.A Apply a 1/2"-5/8" cap bead of sealant at the recessed header/jamb and recessed sill/jamb corners. Using a putty knife, tool sealant into corners insuring flashing seams are sealed.
Installation Recommendations: It’s recommended that backing (OSB, plywood, dimensional lumber) be installed to support flashing at all window and door
openings. Installation substrates should be clean and free from substances and protrusions that could adversely effect adhesion and or compromise flashing/mem-brane performance. When an installation requires adhering RainBuster #415 Self-Adhered Flashing Memflashing/mem-brane directly to the substrate (OSB, plywood, fiberglass faced gypsum board, masonry, and concrete) an adhesion test is recommended to insure sufficient adhesion is achieved. Adhesion may be improved by rolling the
Step 14. Installation of Bond Breaker (by others)
Product: Weather resistive barrier (building paper) by others (non-RainBuster product)
14.A After the weather resistive barrier has been properly integrated (weather board/ship lap fashion) with the window and door flashing systems, an additional piece of weather resistive barrier should be installed over the sill flashing acting as a bond breaker.
