Introduction
CionSystems Active Directory Reporter provides the best solution to meet Active Directory Reporting requirements. Active Directory Reporter retrieves and reports information efficiently from the active directory while hiding the complexities of the native Active Directory reporting tools and eliminating the need to write scripts. Active Directory Reporter contains 155 out of the box reports and as well as customizable reports. Active Directory Reporter can generate reports to help organizations gather information for regulatory audits including SOX/PCI audits. CionSystems Active Directory Reporter provides a dashboard to view Active Directory status. The Active Directory dashboard can be customized to meet individual user needs.
CionSystems Active Directory Reporter’s efficient delegation model provides role based access for users to manage security permissions with ease. Administrators can securely delegate responsibilities to helpdesk and/or other users thereby reducing administrative workload.
CionSystems Active Directory Reporter allows administrators to receive important reports by email at scheduled times by simply choose the reports to be sent. Each user profile can be configured in Active Directory Reporter to receive the selected report information allowing an administrator to receive different information than helpdesk users.

Email Reports – Reports can be configured and scheduled for automatic delivery to an email address at a prescheduled time.
Web Access - After Active Directory reporter is installed on a system, it can be accessed from anywhere using Internet Explorer.
Print/Export Reports - Reports can be printed or exported to CSV, DOC and PDF.

System Requirements
CionSystems Active Directory Reporter needs: • 4GB RAM (8GB Recommended)
• 50 MB of disk space
• Web Browser IE 7.0 or higher • Windows Server 2003, 2008, 2012 • IIS server 6.0 or higher.
• Microsoft Exchange management pack for Exchange 2007+ • Microsoft .NET 4.0 Framework
• Access to Exchange Server 2007, or 2010 or higher
• Access to Windows Active Directory (2000, 2003, 2008, 2008R2, 2012) • SQL Server 2008 or higher Full or Express Edition.
• GPMC
Installation
CionSystems Active Directory Reporter can be installed using a CD or from the web.
Installing from a CD
To install Active Directory Reporter from CD:
1. Insert CionSystems Active Directory Reporter CD into your CD drive. 2. Click on start on start button.
3. Click on My Computer. 4. Double click on CD drive.
5. Double click on ActiveDirectoryReporter.msi. 6. Setup process will start.

Installing from the Web
After registration of the ActiveDirectoryReporter trial version, an email will be sent with the link to download ActiveDirectoryReporterr.msi
To install from the website:
1. Open email.
2. Click on the Download Free Trial link.
3. Save ActiveDirectoryReporter zip file to the hard drive.
4. When the download is complete, go to start > windows explorer. 5. Extract the file where ActiveDirectoryReporter zip file was saved. 6. Double click on ActiveDirectoryReporter.msi file.
7. Setup process will start.
8. Go to step 1 in Installation Wizard.

2. Click Next in System Requirements and Info Screen.

6. IIS Authentication pop up will appear, enter IIS Username and Password, Click on OK button.
-If the System joined in Domain give domain\username

7. Active Directory Reporter installation will be continued.
8. SQL Server Configuration pop up will appear, if u are installing the application for first time then click on ‘Create New Database. In Configuration Details, you can select SQL Authentication or Windows Authentication.
•
For SQL Authentication Enter SQL database Server name, Select SQL Authentication, Enter Login and Password. Enter valid details and click Test Connection. If Test Connection displays connected successfully message. Then, Click on Next.•
For Windows Authentication Enter SQL database Server name, SelectWindows Authentication, here, Login and Password will be grayed out. Enter valid details and click Test Connection. If Test Connection displays connected successfully message. Then, Click on Next.
Note:
To use the ‘Existing Database’ radio button. AD Reporter Database should already exist in the SQL database.

9. When the installation is complete, click Close.
Configuring CionSystems Active Directory Reporter
1. To configure Active Directory Reporter

2. The login screen will open in the default web browser, to login on to the application for the first time
Enter “admin” in the User Name dialogue box. Enter “admin” in the Password dialogue box.
Note: It is recommended that user name and password should be changed after the application has launched.
3. Enter the Active Directory Reporter details of the domain.

Domain Name. •
Domain User Name- It is critical that this user have highest privileges otherwise some of the functionality may not work. Application uses this account as is context.•
Domain Password. •
Enter Domain Controller name.•
Click on Get Domain controllers.•
It will show all the domain controllers for that Domain. •
Select primary radio button. •

Once Active Directory Reporter is successfully installed and launched, the dashboard window will appear with a view of the active directory categories of reports and task list.
For instructions on how the Active Directory Reporter dashboard can be customize to meet individual user needs please refer to “Active Directory Reporter Help Guide”.

Log on as administrator or run the .MSI as an administrator by holding down shift key and right click the mouse, choose run as administrator.

In some case, you have to change the Application pool identity to the username and password you provided at install. Process is
- Run Inetmgr.exe from start run
- Goto application pool, then to default app pool.

Start the sql server management studio and note the sql connection string and username. You have to provide this username during the install of ADReporter. Otherwise whatever username you provided you have to provide SQL privileges. Also, check the IIS role and ensure the Windows and Basic authentication is enabled.

This can happen because the firewall is blocking ports. Check the firewall and SQL to ensure the right SQL ports are open.

Select TCP/Ip, go to properties, in properties windows select IP address In IP1 set TCP Port as 1433 and in IPALL set TCP port as 1433, Click on OK Restart SQLServer and SQL server Browser services
To open above ports in Windows firewall run this command from command prompt
netsh advfirewall firewall add rule name = SQLPort dir = in protocol = tcp action = allow localport = 1433 remoteip = localsubnet profile = DOMAIN
To connect Remote Database you have to install SQL browser service (for SQL 2008) In firewall enable UDP port (By Default 1434) for SQL Browser

Go to ToolsInternet options-Security- Click on “custom level” button Enable Binary and Script Behavior option. Save it, you may have to restart the application again.
