Using related extraction capabilities to extract the relationally intact set of data from the source tables, you can provide a complete set of archived data to meet regulatory compliance requirements for data retention. The archive data can be saved in an extract file or loaded into a separate set of tables so it can be referenced when needed. You have the option to delete all archived data rows or only the rows from specified tables. Since the table definitions are stored with the archived data, you can restore the archived data to a set of tables that match these definitions even if the source table definitions have been changed.

Whether they’re supporting enterprise databases at the data center, a remote location or a disaster recovery hot site, these solutions offer a safe way to perform routine backups and recover data as quickly as possible.
• Creating backups: This solution provides backup of the DB2 data, indexes (if requested), and DB2
catalog and directory data to form a complete backup set. It also allows a check of the integrity of tablespace pages during image copy processing to ensure the validity of data pages. You also have the capability to merge DB2 log data with existing image copies, creating new, up-to-date image copies without impacting DB2 systems, applications or data availability.
• Establishing recovery procedures: These products automate complex DB2 object recoveries by
analyzing DB2 data and creating efficient recovery jobs, helping you set up DB2 object recoveries and reestablish referential integrity efficiently. For disaster recovery situations, they analyze the available DB2 system information and build the jobs, in the correct order, to automatically restore the catalog and DB2 data from the backups and logs.
