Ilion Animation Studios, based in Madrid, was founded by the Perez Dolset brothers in 2002 to create state-of-the-art computer animated movies for worldwide theatrical release. The studio uses purpose-built cutting-edge technology to achieve a unique visual animation experience.

Ilion’s first CGI animation feature was Planet 51, released globally in 2009. This feature length film represents the collaboration of 350 highly talented and experienced artists, program developers, high-tech engineers and other skilled professionals from over 20 countries.

Ilion has become a model studio on a global basis, capable of attracting talented individuals with a unique set of skills within the animation industry. These artists are attracted to Illion partly due to the user friendly environment both in technological and management terms. FX Artists

Ilion Studios is looking for fx artists to help to develop effects and pipelines to be used during the effects production.

Main responsibilities

- Will help to develop effects and pipelines to be used during the effects production - Generates pre-comps of the effects to be published to Compositing

- Finds references for assigned effects

- Is able to deliver on time with tight deadlines and with the highest standard - Is able to create simple pipelines and automations

- Reports to the Simulation & Effects Supervisor Qualifications

- Experience of 2 or more years in film, producing effects such as fire, smoke, clouds, explosions, dynamic driven animations, etc

- Deep knowledge of CG FX with software Maya. Knowledge of Houdini is a big plus - Strong artistic and technical skills to be able to add dramatic flair to environments,

characters, etc, through the creative use of effects - MEL/Python scripting abilities, are a big plus Skills

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, being able to work as part of a team - Adaptable and proactive with a continuous improvement spirit

Animators

Ilion Studios is seeking Animators to create high quality animations of 3D characters and elements appearing in each of the movie’s shots; to convey emotion, movement, action and personality; in the style of the feature film.

- Animate a shot from blocking through final animation, working under the supervision of the Animation Supervisor and/or Director

- Animate props and animation effects

- Maintain a consistent level of high quality work while meeting deadlines Qualifications

- Ability to use acting skills to bring characters to life, as well as clearly communicate simple ideas with which an audience can empathize

- A demo reel which proves animation skills and the strong understanding of the traditional animation principles such as weight, arcs, etc

- Production animation experience is needed

- Capacity to work in a team environment and to follow the instructions from the Animation Supervisor and Team Lead

Lighting Artist

Mission

Creates the 3D environment’s lighting in all the movie shots.

Main Duties / Functions

- Creates the 3D environment’s lighting in all the movie shots

- Light up the assigned shots, according to the artistic and technical instructions of the Supervisor and Team Lead

- Capable of composing frames or work closely with the compositing team, to optimize the frame work

- Reports to his Lighting Team Supervisor Professional Experience

- 3 years of experience in 3D lighting and compositing. Qualification / Knowledge:

- Deep understanding of the artistic concepts of colour and composition - Expert knowledge in shading properties

- Skills in 3d software

- Expert knowledge of the principal compositing 3D software - Capacity to reach the quotas with the quality level required - Knowledge of compositing is a must

Compositing Artists

Ilion Studios is looking for compositing artists to improve the movie’s final frame by compositing the images created by the lighting and special FX departments.

- Improve the movie’s final frame by compositing the images created by the lighting and special FX departments

- Work closely with the Compositing Lead to identify potentially problematic areas of the film’s sequences compositing and look design, and work to find solutions that meet the movie’s creative as well as production needs

- Report to the Compositing Supervisor Qualifications

- 2-3 years’ experience in CG compositing

- Deep understanding of the artistic concepts of colour and composition.

- Thorough knowledge and ability to use the tools that produce Digital Composites such as Nuke, Shake, Combustion, Flame and Photoshop

- Deep understanding of the artistic concepts of colour and composition - 3D lighting experience is desirable

Software developers

Ilion Animation Studios is seeking production developers to join their software development team, to work on production related technologies, scripts, libraries and plugins.

- Help build and maintain the suite of production-specific tools under the direction of the Department Development Lead and Software Development Supervisor

- User support

- Technical and user documentation

- Keeping up-to-date with relevant technologies and how they can be efficiently implemented.

- Proven team player with good organization and communication skills Qualifications

- Degree in Computer Science or equivalent preferred

- Previous production development experience preferred (2 years min) - Good understanding of 3D math and animation technologies

- Experience coding in C++ preferred

- Good knowledge and working experience with Python - Good knowledge of Mel

- Good knowledge with Maya

Systems Administrators

The Systems Administrator will give support to the systems team. Main responsibilities

1. Expert in security tools: Firewalls / IPS-IDS / SSL VPN / Antivirus / Encryption Tools, etc: - Checkpoint

- Cisco - Iptables

2. Expert in networking and communications equipment (Routing / Switching / VLAN / Load-balancing, etc.):

- Cisco - H3C

3. Expert in Linux OS:

- Manage, monitor and improve servers - Documentation of the environment

4. Knowledge and experience with backup solutions (Symantec Netbackup 6.5/7.0, Symantec BackupExec, Data Protect. 6.20):

- Configuring backup policies, planning, Backup environment optimization - Monitoring and Reporting Results

5. Knowledge and experience in process automation and program and operating systems installation:

- Create / Modify Images - Create / Modify Scripts

6. Knowledge and experience with Active Directory (GPO, WSUS) and Windows Management Servers (Windows 2003 Server, Windows 2008 Server):

- Creation / modification of users
