You must attend the program to receive credits. As confirmation of attendance, you will be required to complete a continuing education attendance form for each session. Additionally, participants will be required to submit a completed evaluation form for each presentation attended.

Continuing education Credits

Continuing Education Credits will be posted into CE Broker and Statements of Continuing Pharmacy Education Credits will be mailed six (6) weeks following the seminar.

Cancellation and refund Policy

All cancellation requests must be in writing. Requests may be made by fax (850) 599-3347. No refunds will be given for cancellations made after Friday, August 20,, 2010. All requests for refunds made prior to Friday, August 20, 2010 will be honored, less a $25.00 administrative fee.

Grievance Policy

All grievances regarding the FAMU COPPS should be communicated in writing to the Interim Director of Continuing Education. Grievances will be reviewed and acknowledged by mail within 30 days after receipt. Unsatisfactory responses to grievances should be communicated in writing to the Dean of the FAMU COPPS. The Florida Board of Pharmacy has mandated that prior to biennial license renewal, all pharmacists must participate in a course not less than two (2) hours on medication errors.

Objectives: Upon completion of this seminar, the participant will be able to: • List and evaluate the root-cause of medication errors;

• List methods of medication reduction and prevention; and • Identify patient safety measures.

• Describe common physiologic changes of aging and how these principles affect medication usage in the elderly; • Discuss the importance of understanding geriatric medicine by identifying problems frequently encountered in this population;

• Discuss the various therapeutic options for various disease states in the elderly; and

• Discuss principles of and strategies for improving medication adherence in the geriatric population. Objectives: Upon completion technicians will be able to:

• Describe the bodily changes that occur with aging;

• Identify problems associated with medication in the geriatric population; • Identify medications that are utilized in various disease states in the elderly; and • Discuss ways to assist the geriatric population in correctly taking their medication.
