24­Hour Access to the Law Library

The Library will be closed November 25­28 and will reopen on Sunday. Beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, November 29, and ending at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 18, the Law Library will be open 24­hours. After 5pm during the 24­hour access period, the library will only be accessible using your University ID. The Circulation Desk closes at 9:00 p.m. on Fridays & Saturdays and 12:00 midnight on Sundays – Thursdays. A security person will be on duty in the Law Library when no permanent staff and/or student associates are working. Your UR ID card is essential during this period.  If you need to replace your UR ID card, now is a good time to do that. The Law School building is locked between midnight and 6:30 a.m. and you will need to swipe your UR ID to enter the building via the front entrance door. You will also need to swipe your ID to enter the library any time after 5 p.m. during the exam period.

Mandatory Exam 4 Training

for all LL.M., Transfer, and

Exchange Students 

MARK YOUR CALENDARS! There will be MANDATORY Exam4 training on Tuesday, December 1st in room 114 for all LLM, transfer, exchange, and any other new to UofR student who is not taking a 1L class this semester.  If you have any questions, please see or email Kim Edwards ([email protected]) or stop by the computer help desk.

Welcome to our new Head of

Reference, Research, and

Instructional Services!

The Law Library is pleased to welcome Jason

Zarin as our new Head of Reference, Research,

and Instructional Services. Mr. Zarin joins us from

the Georgetown Law Library, where he has

worked as a reference librarian and adjunct

professor since 2011. He holds a master's of

science in Information Studies from the University

of Texas, a bachelor’s and master’s degrees in

economics (Tufts 1992; UCLA 1994), a J.D. from

the University of Southern California (1998), and

an LL.M. in taxation from Georgetown (2001).

Before entering law librarianship, Mr. Zarin was a

trial attorney at the United States Department of

Justice, Tax Division and also practiced tax

litigation at law firms in Washington, DC and

Houston, Texas. He will join the Law Library the

week of December 14th, please take a moment to

welcome him when he arrives.

Talking/Noise in the

Law Library:   

It is very important as we approach the end of the semester and during the exam period that the library be as quiet as possible. Remember that some talking is permitted in the front part of the library where the Circulation, Reference, Computer and Multimedia help desks are located, but talking is

Reminder: Study rooms cannot be reserved for taking exams, but you can use them for quiet group study. Use the link above or click on "Study Room Reservations" on the Quick Links bar on the library website. NOT permitted in the study table area after you go through the glass doors.  Please do not use your cell phones for conversations anywhere in the library. Clean your Carrel! Please dispose of food wrappers and open drink containers in your library carrels before you leave for the winter break.  Anyone leaving UR or graduating in December, please return the carrel key to the Library’s Administration Suite, L17 or the Circulation Desk.  Clipboards will be available to log in the keys.
